  1. Too bad if that is the case. Not often we have a top 25 regional team roll in to Denton for any sport. Much less one from the conference in which we aspire to be
  2. just received this email:
  3. was thinking the same thing, CE. I dont think ASU has a chance, and the only way I see this being close is if Southern Miss thinks the same way. Maybe they can catch them off guard. But I think there are probably 2-3 teams in the belt that could play southern miss better. hope Im wrong!
  4. we have as good a chance as ever this year. Womens team seems to be playing well, UT just lost a player to injury (ACL i think) and another quit the team (though I dont think she has contributed much in the way of playing time). Either way, they sound a bit out of sorts for a Texas team and this would be a great chance to pull an upset and knock them completely out of the top 25
  5. Texas State has nothing on us when it comes to game day experience. You (or anyone else on the Texas State Love Train) have apparently never been to a Texas State game. During the year, nobody goes to the games. The ONLY reason anyone was in the stands was because it was a playoff game. Next year, after all these seniors graduate, they will be a .500 team in their 1aa conference. Then all of their fans will be forced to go back to studying for their "How to Keep River Water Out of an Open Can: 101" finals while wearing their UT hats wondering what might have been if they had been accepted.
  6. I want to beat SMU by 30,000 at fouts field. and bring on an equitable mid major team. Or A&M and a paycheck
  7. I guess you missed the Lone Star shootout...
  8. DO IT add whatever womans team you need, whether it be archery, equestrian sports or Div 1A Bed-Making... I think a baseball program is an intergral part of continuing our quest to become a big time program (if that is in fact what we want to do)
  9. well if we are going to have a showing like we have been, why not schedule A&M. That way if/when we get beat, at least we can say, "well its A&M" and everyone can still feel good about themselves because they finished 5-6 last year to our 2-9. Plus, I just read in the Chronicle that Troy backed out of their game with them to play Nebraska next season. so lets load up the wagon and head down to collie station and see how good that option run game is against the mean green, or if not, at least we'll make some green and play our body bag game in-state and we can all go watch it
  10. That was the joke, I didnt understand the initial comment. Up until recently (when some guy died at a Teke party in 98 or '99), the Texas State admin let the greek system run wild... now they have clamped down on everything they do, understandably. Its really made it difficult for fraternities to do much. (This info from a friend who spent 5-6 years in school there in the greek system, and no he doesnt have a masters )
  11. How to get kicked off campus?
  12. actually a playoff system is the only legitimate shot any non BCS chool ever has of winning a national championship. Think about, TCU could go undefeated for the next 3 years and never jump a 11-0 Texas or 11-0 USC. At least with a playoff there is the remote possibility of a non BCS going undefeated and then knocking off a couple more teams. Im all for the playoff, as long as it starts once the season ends. Im sick of all the BCS crap going on until Jan 4th- a month away. But as far as congress goes, I would think (or hope ) they have better things to do. typical
  13. I agree with you here. But I did think Dallas had a chance to really devolop that area into a nice attraction, not just a stadium. They had alot of things planned for the area and really could have improved an otherwise ghetto part of the city. Anyone who has been down around fair park knows the surrounding areas arent exactly family friendly. I find Miller to be an annoying person, and wanted to laugh at how arrogant she was being about the whole cotton bowl situation saying she was confident they would keep the RRS in dallas implying she had all the bargaining chips, or as she said "money".
  14. this is very typical of aggy. having several aggy friends, and an aggy boss, I see this all the time. an aggy never actually loses. they either run out of time, get robbed by officials, dont play as well as they are capable of, or some combination of all the above. In aggyland, there is no losing. only moral victories and excuses. which is why even if we had won the game, you would hear the same things you are hearing now. man i would have liked to steal a game there... anyone know if this is will be a series in the future, or is it just a one game deal?
  15. Id love to see every one of our coaches take this type of attitude. And I dont buy that we cant be a basketball school too, in fact, we have a better chance of building a dominating bball program in fewer years than we do a football program. Shoot for excellence in every sport with every team we field!
  16. I read through some of the threads on TexAgs.com to see what aggys take on the game was and found a few were complimentary of our team... of course there were a few of the "UNT had really good athletes, wonder why they play there" comments and a "UNT played their best game of the year, while A&M played pretty average" comment, but it sounded like we were alot more aggressive and had more depth than the ags. I didnt get to go to the game or listen to it, some Im basically going on what I hear from those that were there. One poster commented that if we had any inside game we probably would have won the game. Thoughts on that? Sounds like we could be in for a pretty good season. It would be great to knock off the Coogs on the 23rd, especially since they have been picking up alot of votes in the polls!
  17. Some on here would probably not. Its fashionable to bash some BCS schools but not others. Then you can disguise it as saying your hatred for them is because they are stealing our recruits with their success (as if Texas A&M and Texas even think about us in the off season) instead of just saying you grew up a fan of A&M. Meanwhile TCU is 10-1 and the same longhorn-bashers are rooting for them while they continue to out recruit us year in and year out, and seem to switch conferences more frequently than Paris Hilton makes internet vidoes. Makes sense, eh? Worse than that is that most longhorn fans THRIVE off being hated, so in essence, threads like "who do you hate most" that turn into longhorn bash-fests on a NORTH TEXAS board do nothing except support their already delusional mindset that UT is the greatest thing on Gods green earth.
  18. Now, now, you're not a bad person! I saw an interview with Reggie Bush on "Quite Frankly" with Steven A. and it was much of the same as this interview. You could tell he thought highly of himself but was trying to answer with a little bit of humility. I imagine its hard to do, as the kids have probably been the greatest player on each of their teams their whole lives. I just hope the game lives up to the all the hype we are about to endure for the next four months. I dont know if there will even be enough superlatives in the english language for the impending assault from the media.
  19. I agree, he has started to be more vocal, and in some ways sounds more arrogant lately than the seemingly more quiet keep to himself QB of last year. I think his team feeds off that confidence though. As far as the gangsta comment, I can only point to the fact that he is from Houston to illustrate my point. Having grown up here I can tell you Houston is known (in the hip hop world) for creating their own type of ghetto language. You will find examples of it in all of Houston rap songs and now branching out into mainstream rap... there was an article in the Houston Press (which is the same thing as the Dallas Observer) that was written that explained what all the terms meant, which was actually quite amusing. I dont have a "street dictionary" that defines alternate meanings for 'gangsta', but I have heard the term used before to imply something was 'cool' or 'tough'. I dont think it was meant in a literal sense to say that players are actually in any way affiliated with gangs, violence, or etc... more so to say that your teammates dont take to people talking trash to them, kind of a stupid slang for 'toughness' or 'being cool like that'. Im not defending the use of the term or even agreeing with its implications, as I think it was in rather poor judgement for a guy who knows everything he says will be in papers all over the nation. I just wouldnt make too much out of it. I disagree. I dont think this is a good point. I think that it is more of a cheap shot.
  20. I dont really see it as a contradiction. He avoids the question by talking about his teammates instead and then the interviewer basically asked the same question again more directly. Saint? I never said the guy could walk on water nor have I tried to start a religion based on the teachings of Vince. Most of the article is about his heisman chances. I kinda look at the heisman as an award to an idividual, so I imagine its not easy to talk about your chances without using the word "I". However I guess he could take the Karl Malone approach and use third person: "Vince Young would love to win the Heisman" "Vince Young thinks about the Heisman alot" "Vince Young is looking forward to going to the Rose Bowl again because Vince was the MVP last year" That would be entertaining if nothing else
  21. Like this quote, what a great reply... classy team player
  22. Oh everyone is taking their shots, but I cant blame them... there are several bowl games I really dont care about. Want more fuel for the fire? From the Austin American Statesman, more cheap shots... Of course at least they spread out the hurt, they had this to say about the Ft Worth Bowl Of course I dont expect much else from the unofficial paper of the Texas Longhorns. And then from ESPN on reasons "Why to watch" ASU/USM Matchup
  23. I think we are on the right track, though Id like us up there around Troy or Tulsa next year... it would be interesting to see how well sun belt teams travel compared to C-USA teams. That could be part of the reason SMU is higher than us (assuming we all report attendance the same way ). Having a home game like Baylor or other regional rivals probably helps out attendance numbers more than say a tuesday night game against Troy or a Thanksgiving weekend game against Ark State (no offense to Arkie State or Troy), as we likely have more visiting fans as well as benefit from the increased interest from our own home fans. Thanks for posting MG61!
  24. what about other regional teams, such as UH, La Tech, Rice, UTEP, TCU or SMU? Im curious how they are doing in comparison.
  25. I thought most of NT students lived in or near the Metroplex... if this is the case, I see no reason why U of H would have more fans there than us. They are traveling away from their home city during Christmas as well. For the most part, they have the same attendance issues as we do.
