  1. we take that step back every year by playing in the sunbelt. Not sure if you are aware of this, but we play in the worst conference in the nation. We dont need to add more bad teams to our schedule. We are not KState. We are not in a BCS conference. your logic does not apply here and if we lose these 1AA games (which we have all seen is certainly possible) we take several steps back. i dont understand how you think this can benefit us?
  2. This would be a good point if we were in the BIG 12 (or the Big 8 as it may have been). We already HAVE 7 cupcakes on our schedule, folks... we schedule these non conference games because we dont play any teams that the general public views as "legitimate" in our conference play.
  3. Of course, I would be lying if I said I wasnt looking forward to the comment as well
  4. expect an uncomfortable comment from Quoner soon...
  5. I feel pretty comfortable saying that if we ever win our OOC games, we will run the belt as well. The belt isnt exactly the SEC. In other words, there is nothing wrong with trying to win our OOC games as well. We should play every year to win every game- whether you think its realisatic or not. Thats the kind of coach I want at NT. And in the end that MIGHT just put us near the BCS games. Who cares if we make it or not- people will be talking about NT. TCU came one game from it. UTAH did it. I dont see why NT couldnt do it some day. Think big, folks
  6. Your entire argument is moot if we lose to a Div 1AA school. You pencil in these 1AA games like they are gimmes. I bet LSU thought they would hang 80+ points on Appalachin State. Oops. Your presumption that I want to play for "L's " is off-based if not absurd. I hate losing. What I hate even more than losing, however, is a fan base that would readily accept wins over sub-par competition (that isnt even in our division) over playing competitively against schools we should view as our equals (win or lose). So instead of trying to find a way to get our program up to the level we need it to be (or would like it to be), you want to just bring the level of competition down to something we can manage right now. Brilliant. Im sure our recruits will go bananas when they find out they will have the opportunity to square off against Avacado U, Guacamole State, and The Sisters of the Blind and Poor. Who wouldnt? These 1AA games dont do anything for us. You win, its a given and you are given little credit. You lose, you are an embarassment. There are 119 div 1A teams. Im sure we can find to play every year. And what good is it to go 8-4, then lose (and by lose I mean "have our asses handed to us") to the 4th or 5th best C-USA team that barely sneaks onto the bowl scene with a 6-6 or 7-5 reord?
  7. Im with you on this one. This 1AA talk is stupid. If everyone wants to play and beat up on 1AA teams, follow a 1AA school. We are div 1A. To legitimize us being a division 1A program, we need to play teams like BYU competitively. I dont see why we couldnt play with them or any other Div 1A team (that would even consider coming to fouts). Our players want to play better teams. Think big. $$$ comes with winning. C-USA comes with winning. Fans show up to see winners- at the Div 1 level against opponents of whom they have heard. Nobody wants to watch us play SFA, Nicholls State, McNeese or any other lousy 1AA football program. I have less incentive to make a trip from Houston to see us play one of those teams. Excuse me for not being able to get excited about those prospects.
  8. very much appreciated. I can always make room for a generous helping of sarcasm
  9. sarcasm?
  10. please, Chuck Norris doesnt even need a fire to cook his brats... he just places them on his massive biceps and flexes... 32 seconds later, ding... brats are done.
  11. I also saw that (not proud of it, but its a guilty pleasure) and laughed. You think its bad at NT with people wearing other schools colors, try walking around Tx State campus. The UT envy/wannabee is much more prevelant than anywhere else. Too bad, I kinda like TSUSM's new colors and logo
  12. I was impressed with Garrett Wolfe last year.. I think it was the game against Akron that I saw where he picked up a ton of yardage... pretty quick back with good vision Suprised T.Techs next plug-and-play QB isnt getting mentioned. He is almost certainly going to put up a ton of yards.
  13. yeah, I have got to say, thats one of my most favoritest posts I have ever seen on this board.
  14. And I have to ask you this question: What is the point of all this ranting and raving? I dont have a scientific survey to support what I am about to say, but if I had to guess I would say that about 99% of people affiliated with NT in one way or another are unhappy with last years 2-9 abortion. There are probably a significant group of people that are not pleased with DD as well. So if this year is a bust, we will show him the door. You dont fire a coach that is winning the conference over and over again. OOC record or not. Im not a huge DD fan either, but you cant get rid of the guy who is taking you to a bowl game every year. Toilet Bowl or not. He isnt going anywhere this year so all of these pedantic rants are accomplishing nothing. Pulling finanical support is a great way to help bury this program. Voice your opinions to the people that matter. You obviously have a great passion for all things green, that is evident and that is a good thing for our program. Just direct it in a useful manner instead of throwing out wild conspiracy theories and cut and pasting the same complaints over and over again. The horse is dead, and the continuous beating of said horse is unnecessary.
  15. greatness... I was a 1st grade spelling bee champ. Oh to relive the glory days...
  16. agreed. But Texas beat USC, USC beat OU, OU beat U of O, UCLA beat OU, Tech beat Cal... its hard to make the case that the Pac 10 is a better conference than the big 12. In fact, I think its stupid to even compare the top 5 conferences, as most conferences have teams that could play with anyone on any given saturday. Also, the "overrated" big 12 went 5-3 in their bowl games (2 wins coming against the best teams in the Pac 10)
  17. I mean, can you blame them? Anyone who watched us play last year would think the same
  18. yeah I was a bit confused by that... but 7 seems to be the appropriate number. Remember, "7's the key number here. Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 doors. 7, man, that's the number. 7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office. Ted: Why? Hitchhiker: 'Cause you're fired! "
  19. this makes me happy
  20. agreed. Im going to say that they will be a contender for their division next year. I dont think we win this game and its gonna really piss me off. Hope Im wrong, but I have to agree with Emmitt. Too many question marks before this game, and I dont know how many answers we will get in front of 84k at DKR the week before.
  21. They have said that was the purpose of this last branding campaign-- to finally get something we could stick with for a very long time. I think these are good marks, and I dont see any reason to stray from them. I have heard a lot of positive feedback about the new logos (not that that means anything) I, like yourself, dont care for the word mark on the helmets.. I would prefer the eagle, as I think its a bit wordy (and it looks like la la's helmets) but oh well...
  22. I think he was referring to the APR rates...
  23. seriously I guess it is impossible to have an entirely positive thread without over-analyzing or complaining about something... Hope you get well quick, DD. Thanks for the message!
  24. Im glad they are speeding things up. Look forward to seeing the new unis
