Who'd be your #1 to play from each conference ?
Eagle1855 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
oh give him a break Georgia Tech is in the ACC, not SEC -
I didnt say you did. Your point was that "80%" of denton thought this way. I dont think this has anything to do with the desires of the Denton community. Its money. Plain and simple. The bars, restaurants, and office space are all privately held, willing to sell, and a development company thinks it wil be a profitable investment to tear it down and put something else in its place. I havent see the exact plans, nor do I know what they will put in its place. I am just wary of seeing another generic "town center" type development. I personally find them to be boring. Bland. Vanilla. pick an adjective.

oh, ok. well, since you backed it up with statistics, I now see your point. tear it down

Im not sure I understand this statement. Im all for Denton being further developed as well. Why is it an either/or scenario? It seems to me there are plenty of old run-down houses in the neighborhoods surrounding the campus in which they could build townhomes or other developments. -
what RB's have taken this route? (CFL) I would think a QB's career would be substantially longer than that of the average RB...

<sarcasm>Im sure SMU is in someway involved in the demise of our stadium plans... </sarcasm>

most companies have blocked access to myspace, so it probably has little to do with "keep denton wierd" or "dont bulldoze the head shops"... -
http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/sha..._schedules.html Horns add Southwest Conference foes Arkansas, TCU to football schedules By Staff | Monday, May 8, 2006, 02:38 PM The University of Texas’ future football schedules announced Monday look a lot like schedules from the old Southwest Conference days. Former foes Arkansas and Texas Christian highlight the list of future opponents, which also includes first-ever games against Texas-El Paso and Central Florida. The Horns-Hogs matchups will be Sept. 13, 2008, in Austin and Sept. 12, 2009, in Fayetteville, Ark. Texas and Arkansas split their last home-and-home series, with Texas losing at home in 2003 and winning in Fayetteville in 2004. The 2007 schedule will include Texas’ 82nd game against Texas Christian, to be played Sept. 8, 2007, in Austin and a first-ever game game against Central Florida. The Central Florida game will be Sept. 15, 2007, in Orlando. The Golden Knights will come to Austin in 2009 and 2011. In 2008, Texas will travel to Texas-El Paso for the first time, with the Miners coming to Austin in 2009. Texas previously had announced a non-conference home-and-home series with UCLA in 2010 and 2011, as well as several games against Rice. The Longhorns are still looking for one non-conference opponent per season for 2007 through 2011. The future schedules: 2006 9/2 NORTH TEXAS 9/9 OHIO STATE 9/16 at Rice 9/23 IOWA STATE 9/30 SAM HOUSTON STATE 10/7 vs. Oklahoma (Dallas) 10/14 BAYLOR 10/21 at Nebraska 10/28 at Texas Tech 11/4 OKLAHOMA STATE 11/11 at Kansas State 11/24 TEXAS A&M (11a.m./Central) 2007 9/1 TBA 9/8 TCU 9/15 at Central Florida 9/22 RICE 9/29 KANSAS STATE 10/06 vs. Oklahoma (Dallas) 10/13 at Iowa State 10/20 at Baylor 10/27 NEBRASKA 11/03 at Oklahoma State 11/10 TEXAS TECH 11/23 at Texas A&M 2008 8/30 TBA 9/6 at UTEP 9/13 ARKANSAS 9/20 RICE 2009 9/5 TBA 9/12 at Arkansas 9/19 CENTRAL FLORIDA 9/26 UTEP 2010 9/4 at Rice 9/11 TBA 9/18 UCLA 9/25 TBA 2011 9/3 RICE 9/10 TBA 9/17 at UCLA 9/24 CENTRAL FLORIDA ---------------------------------------------- good god can we please get a new stadium? Texas going to play @ UCF and @ UTEP? Maybe we could get a higher profile team than say Baylor, TCU or SMU to denton every now and then?

The Mean Green will rout SMU...they'll
Eagle1855 replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
yeah pass the green for sure, but I dont think its kool-aid you are smoking... and I dont have a MA in longhornfanology, but if I had to guess, I would say they have less respect for us as a competitive program than OU did for TCU. I will say that if Texas's QB play is anywhere near as awful as OU's was in their opener against TCU, i like our chances to cover the spread. SMU will be a tough game for us. last year nobody thought much of Tulsa in the beginning of the year. Well we all know how that turned out... and SMU played Tulsa pretty well -
Patrick Cobbs a victim of 2-9 season.....

I know, that was my point. I was just joking. sarcasm doesnt translate well in print... -
its a gamble, but it could turn up good for them if he can get his act together. I think that if he had transferred to a Div1AA school for this year instead of going to the draft, he probably could have improved his draft stock considerably (like, been a first-day guy, assuming he behaved himself). Would have showed coaches he was serious about football. If you remember, he was considered a solid heisman candidate half way through last year.

The titans can go 0-16 for the next 40 years for all I care. However, I think they will be fine with Volek for a couple years. If LenDale can keep himself away from the twinkies and ho-hos in the off season, he should be an impact player this year. VY will take a couple years. If he actually does develop into his potential, he will annoy the hell out of me twice a year, for many years to come.

News flash, Vanderbilt was a loser team this year as well! In fact they lost to OTHER losers, in Kentucky, MTSU, and Tennessee. And yet the Broncos traded up to grab him because he had a great workout and great combine results. The lack of interest in PC has nothing to do with our loser record. it has everything to do with his poor work out coupled with the fact that most all of his success was against the cellar-dwellers in the Sun Belt -
agree, cristinas is pretty good stuff. man this thread has derailed, but I'll add to it... best fajitas in the Houston area can be found at one of the Lupe Tortillas. Get the beef. you wont be able to eat it all, but you'll be glad you tried

Texans made HUGE mistake
Eagle1855 replied to emmitt01's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
well Im gonna say that hope you are wrong, and that the hundreds of analysts that took an in depth look at Williams, his game film, etc... are right. Time will tell, so its a useless argument at this point because neither of us know what kind of player he will end up being. If he turns out to be a stud, its a great pick for the Texans. nobody wanted to trade up. They tried to do that, but everyone was pretty content sitting where they were. had they had that option, they probably would have explored it, but they did not (or so they say, and thats all I have to go on). This draft had about 6-7 elite players that many teams would have been content with any of them falling their way. Vince would have sold a ridiculous amount of merchandise. It would have sold out games. thats a fact. It would have been a great story. But if it didnt work out, 3 years from now the honeymoon would be over. My point is, people want to win. Kubiak thinks Carr is the guy, and that he hasnt been coached well or had a good enough supporting cast. I hope he's right. If nothing else, the Texans showed balls (or stupidity, only time will tell here as well). I cant. I have to have the last word. -

No, he was still the top rated prospect... #1 dual threat QUARTERBACK, #1 overall I agree with you about the combine thing. I think its overrated, and I have my reservations about WIlliams. But if he turns out to be the monster he is projected, it will help the Texans more than Bush could have. No. But hopefully that will change in the next 2 years
