  1. would it be crazy to think this year wont be a whole lot better, but 2007 could be a great year?
  2. Ahhh, they didnt say anything about them when I called, guess I will have to call back! Thanks for the info...
  3. just renewed my season tix today, added another one to the mix. talked a friend into ordering a pair as well... hell, if half the people on this board could talk a friend/graduate they knew that wasnt currently attending games into buying a pair of season tix, that would put ~2000 more people in the seats. I told my boss I just renewed my tix for $105 bucks for BOTH seats and he was dumbfounded. As an A&M grad they "get" to pay like $75+ PER SEAT, PER GAME. Yeah the product on the field sucked last year, but it cant suck forever. Id like to remain one of the ones that hung on through the rough year and all the OOC losses (beatings). When we finally have that breakthrough year, its gonna be sweeeet Anybody know when the UT tix will go on sale?
  4. I dont know the specific rule number (or where to even find that), but I found various articles on the subject, one against, another one in favor. against in favor
  5. but dont you think it would be a viable option for guys like Matt Nordgren who rode the bench their entire career, to give them a year to give pro scouts something to look at, instead of going to Canada or Europe?
  6. Apparently there is a new transfer rule in place for Div 1A that states if student has recieved his undergraduate degree, he may attend graduate school at another institution and play an additional year immediately, without having to sit out. Arizona's former starting QB just transfered to Vandy is expected to compete for the starting job this year. I think this could be a great thing for schools like NT. There are plenty of dissatisfied players who could contribute here that just ride the bench in other places. Thoughts?
  7. glad to see they made good use of our Texas-born talent
  8. Jennie Finch is the best softball player in my book. After looking over all of the various statistics and game film, my final decision came down to this: game, set, match.
  9. I think like half of OU and Ok Lite's teams are comprised of Texas talent, so it would be hard to make a case for the overall HS talent in Oklahoma as compared to Cali, Florida or even Ohio. I cant comment on the fan support, but I would guess there are several other "less significant" (tounge in cheek) states that also support their programs rabbidly. But hey, even if the big NCAA football programs in OK have a down year, at least there is always "noodling"
  10. outstanding work. spot on, spot on.
  11. Im all for blowouts on the NCAA level. I find it funny OU romped A&M 77-0 in 3 qtrs, and I find it amusing UH hung 100 on Tulsa back in the day. Who cares? Yeah, its classless, but it doesnt need to be sanctioned. These are grown men, not children who need to be coddled.
  12. Id guess the fact that the best athletes would rather go to NFL "farm system" schools rather than serve in the military.
  13. Well, I hope we didnt give anyone tickets to OUR home-opener last year...
  14. I meant that following the 4 "successful" seasons he had 1 bad one, which was last year. Im sorry I didnt paint that picture clear enough, I have edited the original post to more accurately reflect my intention. Im not a DD fan, for the record, but you dont fire a coach that wins 4 conf champs- especially if you are a school like NT who doesnt have the big name to draw people to coach here.
  15. Perhaps "light years" was a bit of an overstatement on my part. Reading this board is depressing. The assumption that every college that decides to add football will inevitabley pass us is ridiculous, and shows little faith in our alma mater. It is virtually impossible to say anything positive about our situation at NT without having to hear about how many Div 1AA programs are better than NT, or which other school has had more success in less time. I doubt you'd find a single person that enjoys our lack of OOC success. And you would probably have an equally difficult time finding someone who would rather stay in the Sun Belt than join regional rivals in C-USA. Repeatedly stating such isnt an original thought or idea. The one thing these "accelerated" programs have that NT doesnt is money. As in, their fans are willing to back their talk with green instead of/in addition to lamenting on boards over percieved injustices in the past. The argument for this will inevitably be, "we arent going to donate until we know for sure the Univeristy is committed to athletics". Well I dont know what you are waiting for, there is a large project going on across 35 right now, you should stop by and see it some time. I dont know what else you need to see to convince you the university is moving forward. Now whether it is fast enough, is a whole other issue. And if you want DD gone, wait 'til the team flops this year. RV will finally have justification. He's not going to fire a 4-time conference-winning coach for following it up with a terrible season due to inexperienced QB play largely credited to situations out of his hands. But beware once he does get the boot, you cant bring in a guy like George O Leary or Mike Price without cash.
  16. good gosh, this might be the largest thread-derailment I have witnessed on this board.
  17. North Texas decided it wanted Athletics when it began construction on the Eagle Point campus. We are light years ahead of any start-up football program. Believe it or not, NT actually has a name for itself and it gets a small amount of respect (which is what it deserves) on the national stage, more than any other sunbelt, Div 1AA, Div II or Div III program.
  18. seriously, then what a joke of a news affiliate! one of the cheesiest looking broadcasts I have seen. It almost seemed like one of those Daily Show "news reports"
  19. this has got to be a BS report
  20. agreed, and they (SI) probably think that as well. They have to do something controversial, that ups the "hits" to the site. Everyone gets on message boards like this one and says" can you believe this s#@%?" and provides a link. Pretty smart, actually.
  21. Well for starters, they have one of the nations hottest recruiting beds in their back yard and they are located in a top 10 media market. Ooops, I was reading off facts about North Texas! Beats me...
  22. agreed. i was going to answer "no", but this was more better-ly put.
  23. funny interview, Major is a real classy guy. Always been a fan of him great response:
  24. Common sense? Did you even watch OU play any games last year?? They improved dramatically towards the end of the season. Even knocked off a (overrated) top ten team in Oregon in the Holiday Bowl. Adrian Peterson = front runner for heisman, book it. OU and Texas both return a ton of talent. It will be the same old drill, OU and Texas, top 2 in the Big 12 south. USC has a lot more question marks than Texas or OU, I'll agree with you there. But they are still loaded with talent. Wouldnt count them out of anything.
  25. I'll take some of that, please
