  1. actually, I was originally going to make a Thanksgiving college football weekend out of it with a couple friends and fam from Houston. Thought we'd hit up the UT/A&M game in Austin, then head to Shreveport for a night (to try to make our trip pay for itself ha) then spend a night in Monroe for the game Ive since decided I have zero interest in going on the road to watch a couple of (probably) 2 win teams "slug it out" sorry for being a bad fan...
  2. nevermind...
  3. I think you are 100% wrong, but time will tell. In my opinion, UNT cant afford to keep Dickey.
  4. not surprising. I had a several Tech x-fers in my business classes over a couple years that complained about how much harder NT was than Tech. Its also has lower admission standards.
  5. Texas Tech fans are some of the worst in college football, and its why fans of all the other Big 12 schools cant stand going there to watch a game. I do like Leach, however. Anyone who comes up with a gem like "I guess the pirates beat the toy soldiers" after the win over ATM is good with me. I feel no sympathy for them. The game was called fairly. And Tech fans should be the last people on earth crying about BS calls. Just ask OU
  6. Yup, thats what I understand. this only becomes RV's "fault" if Dickey is still here next year. But, he won't be, so all these hypothetical what-if scenarios are a waste of time...
  7. I take it back, this is dumbest post ever
  8. I thought we played them in 2007 away, 2009 in Denton... I have no idea where I got this, but I feel like I might have read that on this board a few months back. Can anyone confirm/deny?
  9. he isnt going to be here next year, dont get worked up about it
  10. I think we play Rice as well, in Houston. Thats not going to be a good game for us either. Todd Graham and Major Applewhite have really made a huge impact down here. As far as how next season looks, lets see who is coaching before we mail '07 in as well. We open at OU, and I have no idea who their QB/RB is going to be (assuming peterson goes pro, which is questionable now that he is out for the season)... could be interesting
  11. Houston will be in a better bowl than the NO Bowl. The C-USA race will likely come down to Tulsa/UH game in Houston. SMU is a good bet. who knows who will come out of the Sun Belt. In all honesty, if it isnt NT, I dont really care.
  12. Texas Tech has some of the worst fans in college football. No question. Ask anyone who attended a school in the big 12 or has played tech in the last couple years. As if Lubbock wasnt a big enough beating in of itself, everytime you go you have to deal with loud-mouthed big12 stepchildren.
  13. I just called the athletic department directly and it took all of 5 minutes to set it up.
  14. he's probably crying because his dad just told him that they wouldnt be going to the fair afterwards, and no he could not ride the rides or have another cornydog, and to sit down and shutup because this was "all your fault" and they were driving back up to their 'territory' as soon as it ended.
  15. awww, how cute!
  16. if they do, they would be stupid, and I would be happy to have him over here...
  17. to be fair, FIU is the largest school in the 'belt at 38k, but on the college football map, yes, they are small and insignificant.
  18. I knew this game was going to be interesting once I saw that we had come running out the gates with a 5-0 lead.
  19. highly underrated post
  20. I said nothing of the sort. In fact, I think we should have handled those two members of the "axis of evil" first, but that is irrelevant. N Korea and (even moreso) Iran, pose significant threats to our safety- but this is nothing new. Im in favor of any well thought out action taken to curb the threats posed by those country. Neither should be nuclear. But I am not in favor of more military action unless we go in there 100%, not this half-ass pseudo war business we see in Iraq. And while Iran and N Korea may have nothing to do with Iraq, I think our current involvement Iraq has everything to do with how we handle those two. My comment (might have been an overreaction but) was directed at the blanketed statement on the generation of young people that are perceived to be dysfunctional- or at least- more than they were when you were a child and the insinuation that getting drafted to go fight a war would somehow "put them on the right track". The reality of it is, the parents of babyboomers thought the youth of their day were also dysfunction, misguided, whatever, and yet (for better or worse) they have helped shaped our country into the what it is today- and it's a place I really dig. Furthermore, I havent met many people that had a lot of positive things to say about Vietnam, their experiences there, etc. Maybe you have. None of the people I know that served there even want to talk about it. I respect you for the time you spent there, honoring your commitment to our country, and being willing to make the ultimate sacrifice- make no mistake of that. If I had to, I would do the same. Im 25, so take that for what its worth. Maybe in 30 years I will say the same thing. Assuming this country is here in 30 years, which at the rate we are going- who knows. I'll be glad to discuss any of this further via PM, as I realize this board is not a medium for political debate, discussion, etc.
  21. yeah, nothing like a couple thousand more 18-20 year olds dying to really "straighten out" this misguided generation.
  22. I dont know, this all seems to make way too much sense. Im gonna have to ask you to stop. No more logic! More irrational emotions! This was also the process/plan TAMU employed for their basketball team- that and having a good coach- and it has worked well- I guess- if you are into winning.
  23. ding ding ding... and on top of that, we play a bunch of never-heard-ofs in the sunbelt. it isnt surprising that a week after getting shelled by a might as well be div 1aa team we only manage 15k to see FIU, a div 1 startup program from florida that the casual fan (or anyone outside Florida and the SBC) has never heard of, much less even knew it div1a (with a surprisingly large enrollment)... It is what it is. want people to come in? Put a decent product on the field. gain more than 200 yards of total offense. Want people to make trips from out of town to see the team play? win the games you are supposed to win- or AT LEAST make them competitive. We are in the easiest conference in the nation. We shouldnt lose ANY conference games by 35 points. 9 years...
