  1. to be fair, that was a lot more than 2 cents!
  2. His name is Dan McCarney Chizik will be a head coach at a major BCS school... many experts feel he's probably the #1 coordinator in the country.
  3. blue eyes?
  4. wish him the best with his health, and whatever future endeavors he may embark upon.
  5. well until someone can beat it, there's no reason to switch it up. They arent giving you anything you havent seen before. They just deliver 8 strong saying, "what you got?" by the way, I love the turn this thread has taken.
  6. uh, because they have only managed to win exactly 1 game all year?
  7. oh sorry, I forgot to pay my People magazine subscription, so I havent been up on my celeb gossip ... thought I remembered reading she forgone the prenup back in the day, but alas, wrong again. either way, Im truly heartbroken to hear this news. I seriously doubt my life will ever be the same.
  8. actually, K-Fed just struck gold. Since Britney was so "in love" she decided she didnt need a prenup... hard to believe these kids didnt make it. I mean if they cant, what hope is there for the rest of us?
  9. Ohio State
  10. They are the same in that people just throw them both out there as a prediction, with no real way of knowing if it is true or untrue or any factual basis for making the assumption. Im also in no way claiming to be above that. I dont know anything about FFR's "insider" information. We've butted heads on many subjects, but I DO respect the hell out of his commitment to the program. If that commitment has netted him an inside source, so be it. Maybe I am just hoping to hope that the BOR has more sense than we have given them credit for, and that they will allow RV to do what he needs to do for the sake of this program at the end of the year. Then again, I also hoped GW's 2nd term would be a success, so Im getting used to being let down. It kinda comes with being a North Texas and Houston Texans fan.
  11. you had me at honey-glazed ham... Im in.
  12. So? There were a lot of posters saying we would win 8 or 9 games this year. There were a lot of posters who didnt think we had a chance in hell at beating SMU. There were a lot of posters who said a lot of things. Most of it is baseless speculation. But to tell you the truth, I dont blame them. What have we seen in the past 8 years to make us think otherwise? I mean, he's been here this long- why wouldnt he keep getting more "get out of jail free" cards? I just think its different this year- for many reasons- but mostly because I dont think we can afford more of the same.
  13. Exactly. I think you have to bring in a new coach to reinvigorate the fan base and the players. Sorry, it will be all but IMPOSSIBLE to sell me on this team being successful next year if DD is still here. I dont think I am alone.
  14. Im guessing it's speculation in hopes that someone who actually DOES know something comes forward, but no one would do that on a message board. He could have used one of these " "- that would have made it more convincing. While I greatly appreciate the donation, I could care less what Jim McIngvale thinks. He threatened to pull all sponsorships to the Texans if they didnt take Vince Young this past year. While Im impressed with his ability to sell furniture, I dont think McIngvale is regarded as a football expert in many circles, and should probably leave those decisions up to those that are better suited to do so. If he thinks winning 2 games a year with DD is better than finding a competent coach (which I dont believe he does), we should fire Dickey and mail him back his money. Keeping DD will cost us a lot more than $1mill in the long run. Don't believe me? How's our recruiting going? I heard Baylor, Rice, Houston, SMU, UTEP, and TCU all have pretty decent commitments. How's NT's class shaping up? Hell, how many area recruits even NT have listed as interested? How was attendance the last couple weeks? If it were up to me, I'd fire him today.
  15. nobody knows anything so all these prediction threads on Dickey's tenure at NT are pretty much useless.
  16. yeah that would sure be an upside down stat for the Dickey Clan... imagine, having more OOC wins than conference wins. I thought that only happened in places like Baylor, Vandy, and Indiana
  17. ahhhahahaha this post, in it's entirety, might be my favorite post of all time.
  18. while I agree with just about everything you've said, Emmitt, I think this is something that could be turned back around [relatively] quickly. Bring in one coach that can sell the program and you can get a great recruiting class. If he can use the talent that we currently have, we could have a good year in 2007, and brace for a big 2008 or 09 (when the alleged stadium is built). My point is, SMU has passed us by- for now. In 2001-2004 I can assure you all the dorks at Pony Fans were complaining about how even NT could beat them and had passed them by as a program. the potential is there for NT, as it has always been, I guess I just wonder who is paying attention or if someone is going to "get it" at some point... we can move forward as quickly as the higher ups allow. someone has to get it at some point, right?
  19. wow, I dont think I have ever heard that.
  20. Sorry, I still disagree with this mentality. Do you think that if Boise State or Fresno State had our schedule next year, the SMU game would be circled as the "big game" (let's also assume its their rival for sake of my point)? No. The game at OU would be the biggest because it represents an opportunity to make a huge national statement. SMU is what it is. We need a change in mindset, and I hope whoever comes in after DD brings this attitude Hawkins and Hill have instilled at their respective programs. Personally, if we go to bowl games, and are competitive in every game we play year in and year out, I dont care if we lose to SMU for the rest of eternity. 9-3 with a loss to SMU looks like a solid team. 1-11 with a win over SMU looks like a fluke game away from winless- and wont help with recruiting AT ALL.
  21. sorry, Tech is in the big 12. that trumps NT's "metroplex advantage" in recruiting times 30. The metroplex angle may work for student enrollment (I assure you one of the many reasons I didnt attend Tech was its location) but I dont think its the same for athletes- especially when you are talking about the sunbelt vs BCS.
  22. I said it before the season started... SMU is going to make some noise this year- and they are. This is the same UAB game that OU couldnt stop til late in the game. Whats even wilder, if UH beats Tulsa at home this week, SMU still has a shot at winning C-USA, as they get both UH and Tulsa at home, and close out with Rice. I dont think that will happen, but they should win 1 of those games, which will likely put them in the New Orleans Bowl.
  23. I probably would, but I dont see myself making a 600 mile roundtrip to watch another egg-laying. Im not pulling my season tickets (in fact I will increase them again next year), and I will continue my donations, but I wont make a huge effort to drive from Houston to Denton, find places to stay, etc, just to raise my blood pressure and be disappointed. I can do that at home watching the Texans.
  24. why? UNC is a lose/lose situation. Football will always take a back seat to basketball, and the ACC is a much tougher conference than C-USA. a good Tulsa team will always have a better record than a good UNC team. Plus, he has stated many times he believes in the program there. I wish we had someone like him at NT.
  25. Hey, 3 concussions is nothing! Sincerely, Troy Aikman
