  1. i believe Div 1A is now known as the "Bowl Series" and Div 1AA is known as the Championship Series
  2. yeah, they are small but a small one probably wouldn't produce the desired dramatic effect. If you look close, you can see it has a lighter-colored center
  3. its a buckeye!
  4. thank that 35-0 loss to MTSU at home for those pathetic attendance numbers
  5. I attended this game with my soon to be brother in law last night. It was a great game, great atmosphere, and a good win for the home team. Regarding a previous thread, the game did sell out. Final attendance was a standing-room-only 31,800. Largest crowd ever at Robertson. That stadium looks great packed. Great sight lines, well lit. U of H has one of the most unconventional offenses I have watched. This was my second UH game this year, but Briles really pulled out all the stops in this one. In fact, every time they went to the I-form, So Miss had to call time out because they had no idea what UH would do in a more conventional formation! Briles loves to take shots downfield. It was a lot of fun to watch. They have a ton of speed. They also went for it on 4th down twice in one drive, ultimately leading to points. At one point, my brother in law (who was a college QB) leaned over and said "you know, Briles calls plays like he is playing playstation", which I thought was a pretty accurate observation. The funniest part of the game had to be the end of the first half. not sure if any of y'all saw this on TV, but with 23 seconds left on the goal line and no times out, UH tried to run up the middle and got denied. Well UH lined up to spike the ball, but the SO Miss players wouldn't get off the running back, Battle, and the refs didn't bother pulling them off so that they could reset the ball so time ran out with the Cougars on the So Miss goaline and nothing to show for it. The officials were greeted with some of the loudest boos Ive heard and all of a sudden that side of the field was littered with beer cups. Tons of people started slinging full cups of beer onto the field, one guy threw one all the way to mid field, prompting me to ask if maybe he could throw a football like that for, say, the Texans! Anyways, it may not have been the classiest thing, but I could definitely understand the frustration. It had already been one of the worst officiating jobs I had seen in a while, and that just pushed it over the top. I will say that I now see why they don't serve beers at most college football games! All in all, it was a great time. All I could think about was how great it would be to someday have a new stadium packed with NT fans for our own Conference USA championship game. Of course thats little more than a pipe dream right now... but someday!
  6. He was the OC of THE national championship team. The AP poll can get bent. When the schools agreed to the BCS system, that was the system they agreed would decide who would be the national champion. I also dont mind if someone is stopping in for 5 years to jump to a bigger program. I understand this job isnt exactly anyone's dream job, and that playing for a national title is impossible in a nonBCS school. Id happily take someone giving their all here for a while and whatever improvements come along with it.
  7. yeah this would be a really great pick up
  8. Intriguing name. I assume Fisher already there when Miles took over? I cant blame anyone for not wanting to be around Les Miles. From what I have heard from folks at Ok State, the guy was a bit of a, um, jerk.
  9. oh you are definitely right about that. Everyone will be crushed, which is absurd because some of the names metioned already HAVE good track records at much larger programs than Southlake Carroll HIGH SCHOOL (which Im not sure if everyone knows this or not, but outside the Metroplex, nobody cares about that higschool program, its records, or championships). Everyone has been locked in to this Todd Dodge thing since day one. Im not completely opposed to Dodge- Ive said many times that I think he could become a great head coach- but I think there have been plenty of names mentioned that have a good track record AT THE DIVISION 1A level and will make decent head coaches somewhere before its all said and done. Personally, I think Dodge has a good chance of coming to North Texas. I think the quotes in papers and to the media indicate there has been contact, and that there may be talks. Dodge or no Dodge, I think there has already been a coach found, which is why you see all these names being withdrawn. Thats just my opinion. I guess we'll all know soon enough. Either way, I trust RV!
  10. no it wouldnt, which is why he wouldnt come here as an OC
  11. ding ding ding. that would be my guess as well
  12. agreed. this was one of my favorite candidates. too bad!
  13. I don't think I have ever seen Mark May go off like that with that cell phone and used car bit. My roommate and I were laughing, partly because it was funny, and partly because it was so out of the norm for May. I still dont understand why Lou Holtz is asked to comment on anything. Most of the time I cant even undershtand what he is shaying becashe the shaliva in hish moush getsh in the way. He beats me down to the lowest of lows The only way we will get attention for whoever we hire is if it is a big name coach that is trying to get back into the coaching ranks, ie Barnett
  14. Baylor will never be kicked out of the Big 12, so quit dreaming. They have great academics, and they are strong in almost every other sport. Every conference has its academic whipping boy. C-USA is our best, and only option if we ever switch conferences.
  15. We dont play any teams anyone has ever heard of. Thats the only reason people dont go to fouts to see the games. In the past, it may have been for other reasons, but the students these days will go see a game. Its just hard to get excited about the teams we play as a casual fan.
  16. oh it was a compliment, it was just very back-handed
  17. ha I know, it cracks me up. Its like listening to people in Dallas bitch about humidity! although I must say, it was odd the way the temperature changed this morning. I left my apartment inside the loop and the temperature was 76 degrees. By the time I got to work off 290 some 15 minutes later, it had already dropped to 54.
  18. I thought he made for excellent point in much of rant. Why everyone is anger? Break guy some slack!
  19. DITTO
  20. that really is kind of sad. I can say with almost 100% certainty that we would fill Fouts (or maybe a new stadium in a few years??? ) if we had a C-USA championship game there. Our fans come out when it matters. They will come to see teams they have heard of. They proved it with Tulsa, SMU, and Baylor. I bet it ends up being sold out, however. I imagine they will have a lot of walk-ups, and students who haven't gotten their tickets yet. Not sure if the students get free admission to this game or not. And to be fair, U of H has gotten a lot of love from the local media as of late.
  21. that article doesn't really say anything, in my opinion. there's nothing happening "right now" is not "I'm happy at UT, I'm staying here" Mack asked him to go quiet til after the bowl. I imagine this is in part due to the fact that they may need a QB for the bowl game.
  22. oh like THAT guy ever did anything after college
  23. he's also rumored to be looking at Louisville and Houston. And how are we going to talk to ANYONE about coming here without a coach? also, I think its a bit harsh to call a 19-20 y/o kid a "slimeball", but thats just me. I know I made a lot of stupid decisions that age, I was fortunate enough to not have them broadcasted to the world! Im not excusing the actions, or even claiming Bomar is a "good guy", but the name calling seems to be a bit excessive! I assure you Bomar is realizing the consequence of his actions. OU has moved on, full steam ahead. And if it wasnt for a couple of bad calls, they would have been in the national title conversation as well. Thats got to kill you when you were once heralded as "the future" of OU football
