I'm trying to gather things for a future game room featuring all my NT stuff I have collected. looking for a couple things, please PM if you can help on any of this, it would be greatly appreciated! first, does anyone know where I could find one of the "flying worm"(light green, 70s early 80s) mini helmets? Ive found a lot of throwbacks, but can't seem to find that one. second, I would love to get a full-sized color copy of the front page of whatever newspaper ran a big story about our win over Cincy in the 02 bowl. I would be willing to pay whatever costs incurred for making the copy, shipping, and of course your time. At some point Id like to get it framed with a few other notable stories I've hung on to. Thanks in advance for any info!

so then, what exactly does it make the new logos? For the record, I really really like these helmet designs Smitty has created, and would prefer it to the current design, but its not gonna happen, so why go on an on about it? Why not get on board with the new logos, new apparel, etc and help create a uniformed appearance of NT to the casual observer? I respect the old stuff (some of which I even like better than the current) but this is what we have now and should have for a long time. The whole, "we dont have to take the logos given to us, we can make our own NT logos" attitude is absurd. I guess my point is, if you got on this board not knowing much about NT, could you tell what our logo/mascot looks like? Would you be excited about the traditions?

is there an emoticon that bangs its head on a desk? Its 'mean green' because it's a hell of a lot cooler than an 'eagles'. It is unique. Our mascot is the Eagle, we are the 'Mean Green'. It IS marketable. It works for Alabama. Not unlike the 'Crimson Tide', most everyone already knows us as the 'Mean Green'. The sportscasters call us the 'mean green'. We wear green uniforms. embrace it. love it. buy the new logo gear. help create a lasting tradition.

Just curious as to your thoughts up to this point. Seems to me most of the games have been blowouts, not a lot of intriguing match-ups. Oops, that should read "spoiled" in the sub heading...

I hardly think knowing our fight song is on par with the vagaries of tortilla-tossing, but to each his own. I like how you are always so gracious in all of your posts, and never condescending.

Ok well, I'll call myself out, as it wasnt even close to what I thought would happen in the game. Great win for Troy and the SBC. They were CLEARLY the better team.

this is all I was trying to say. I think throwing tortillas is a blast. I "get it". I just think it will always be associated with Tech, no matter what. sorry for going against popular opinion and being one of "those people". jeez

I think we ought to focus on our traditions that are not the same as another in-state school that gets a lot more notoriety. Yes, I know the story about how the tortilla thing started, but Tech is who is known for the tossing of tortilla, and Id prefer to NEVER have anyone think we are copying those stepchildren

Not surprising. I would argue our D is as good or better than that of Rice. Our ineptitude on offense just killed us over and over again. I am very impressed with Troy's D, they have a lot of speed. Not giving Rice much time at all. Nice to see our conference is obviously improving. Hope MTSU can put on a similar show. that would go a long way to help the perception of the SBC.

I heard that as well. That was a pretty boring bowl game. Oregon looked terrible, both in their play and those awful helmets.

hey, I never said my opinion didn't come with a side of bias... but I generally root for Texas teams against anyone else. As a champion of the underdog and perennial loser (see avatar) I like watching the SBC members upset the "bigger" schools. For me, this is more about it being Rice than it is the sunbelt. I hope MTSU kills CMU.

I'll back a Texas school over some relatively obscure state school in Alabama everyday! It's impressive to see rice win since they have ridiculous admissions standards, even for their athletes, which cannot be said about Troy State. so I say, go nerds! I don't care about the sunbelt conference. build the PROGRAM so we can get the hell out of here!

I like Rice to win this game. Handily. I think Dillard and Co have plenty of firepower, and Applewhite/Graham should have a good offensive game plan. Should be a good one to watch. I agree, Troy is streaky but I don't see them pulling this one out. Rice played UH down to the wire, killed a decent Army squad, played UCLA close in Cali, and was one loss away from playing in the C-USA champ game. Interested to see how the teams matchup.

I also wavered on this, but I think Hawaii scores 50 points in this game and Id be surprised if ASU keeps up
