  1. and Chase Wasson really isnt that good, so it would have to be someone pretty impressive if it is in fact true the guy would be an "instant starter" once eligible.
  2. ok fair enough. A better question would be- why? I mean, love NT but when you had a chance to play at UT and are now THE guy at Mizzou (who could easily challenge for the Big 12 North next year) whats the allure of playing in the Sun Belt? Todd Dodge is great, but I highly doubt this is a likely scenario even for him. AS to Ryan Sparealoux, I wouldnt hold my breath. From what I have read, the only place he may be playing football next year could be the Louisiana State Penitentiary.
  3. not. a. chance.
  4. yeah, and I got right back into the Tavern and finished off a couple more jager bombs! seriously, though, impressive show of heart by Dodge.
  5. thats great! Loved the bit on Shapiro: Big and Rich is the ultimate power down for me on gameday.
  6. just curious why you think that. I don't know a whole lot about the guy.
  7. Even so, they still have Allen Patrick, right? And a pretty OK coach as well...
  8. I guess the point I thought was interesting (and my reason for posting the article) was not only to highlight the obvious success/buzz/etc that is generated with success in athletics- everyone here already knows that- but also to bring to attention the way they are paying for some 20 million of it. Seems to be a very unconventional way to pay for any athletics-related projects. Does anyone know if this something other universities practice, or if this is even feasible/desirable in our campaign?
  9. Expansion found this to be interesting:
  10. maybe we can get Peter Weller to narrate a documentary on this event, 20 years from now.
  11. MOTORIN! sorry... Ive listened to a game or two on the Houston station, though I couldn't tell you what it was as I just happened upon it. UNT needs a billboard in Houston. maybe one heading out of town towards Dallas on 45. Im sure we will see more of this with Dr Bataille in office, as she has made increasing our visibility on a national level- not just regional- a top priority.
  12. for every one of these doug flutie, dat nyguen, etc references, there are hundreds if not thousands of undersized guys that didn't make it. Yes, you are right, it is certainly POSSIBLE this guy could be the next undersized superstar, but the odds are not in his favor. I hope he turns out to be an excellent recruit. Character, will, etc are all important components- but you still need speed and size to compete with the big boys. And while its great we had a lot of guys who far-exceeded anyones expectations in the Dickey years, there were plenty more that were mediocre, and it didn't really "cut it" the last 2 years when our competition improved.
  13. Winner of SD and Baltimore.
  14. hose-job. In my opinion, they should be #3 based on the system we have in place (maybe #2 based on the beat down that was handed to OSU). Although, USC was voted #1 in 2004 without playing in the title game, so a case could be made in favor of Boise. I personally dont think Boise could go undefeated with Florida's schedule (or even make it through with only one loss) but that is all speculation. Bob Davies was on Mike and Mike this morning and questioned whether Boise was even the 5th best team, but figured you kinda had to put them up there because of the season they had. Whatever.
  15. Ive heard Larry Cokers name mentioned as possible for Tulsa job if this goes through... although this came from my roommate and I didnt bother to find out the source, so take that for what it is- which is admittedly not much
  16. wasnt UTEP ranked a couple years ago?
  17. this is also what A&M did with their basketball schedules the first couple years under Gillespie...
  18. Some interesting information... Playoff Plunderer
  19. yes, that is precisely what I am looking for!
  20. the difference between JJ and DD is that JJ never won the conference 4 times in a row--- or at all.
  21. I will say its not everyday you have an opponent shoot 71% from behind the arc. 10-14 from the 3 is impressive. Either way, its the most points UALR has scored all season. Lack luster D on our part, great shooting on theirs. Almost wonder if it would have been better to just let Jones-Jennings get his and focus on the other 4 on the floor. Might have cut down on the 3 ball. I should note I didnt see the game, but listened to it online. Perhaps someone else has a more astute observation.
  22. why not?
  23. my thoughts exactly. UALR? embarassing. Jones-Jennings or not, we shouldnt lose by double digits to this team.
  24. I see your point. you are referring to ratings. I misunderstood that. I agree to some extent... Id rather watch Notre Dame and LSU in a BCS bowl than CMU and MTSU in the Spare Tire Bowl if I am a casual fan. I think the stakes of a game also have a lot to do with a team's draw. For instance, I was far more interested in seeing BSU and OU than I am any other BCS game. USC/Michigan? Snooze. Same for LSU/ND because I felt pretty confident it was going to be a blow out (although not as much as it was) like every other top 10 team they played. Anyways, may want to start a new thread on with this subject, as this is becoming a hi-jacked thread...
