it doesn't make it more or less important, im just saying, the guy has been torn between a couple schools throughout this process. What may be an easy decision for others may not be for he, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. As of a couple days ago, he was still solid on coming here. -

Or maybe its just the fact that this is a really big decision for an 18 year old... cut him some slack! -

from the NT athletic site: Coach Dodge and his staff have had basically three weeks to put together this class and from all indications it is shaping up to be a very good one. Since recruiting began on Jan. 15, the coaching staff has logged over 35,000 miles and made more than 300 in-home or school visits in a total of 18 days on the road. In three recruiting weekends more than 40 recruits made official visits to the North Texas campus. -

Jesse DeSoto is in, come on Vizza.................. -
too bad nobody in the rest of the super pit knew that. sounded bush-league. I can almost guarantee you the coach used that as a motivating tool. And no, it wasn't just done while he was shooting free throws. Let me also say, its great to have the pit crew at the games. it really helps with the atmosphere of the game and i hope we can continue to expand it. The napoleon with a whistle (ref) needs to cool it. he completely changed the tempo/momentum of the second half blowing this whistle every 14 seconds. It became difficult to get into the game.

I was talking about the University of Alabama in general, not specifically Stallings. And regardless of whether he is a nice guy or great coach, I still think he is/was wrong about his assessment of NT.

ok, that would make more sense I'm having a slow day, mentally -
I'd be interested to see what everyone thinks of the difficulty to win post-Mean Green Village and post-Sun Belt run. I'd also like to note that I could really are less what anyone from the University of Alabama thinks about anything. That school epitomizes every negative southern stereotype.

For the most part it looks like the author just read all the articles that were written about a month ago when Dodge was hired, took bits and pieces from each of them, and made his deadline. At least it does to me...

wouldn't that give the defense a pretty good indicator of when to jump the snap and get to the passer? -
Agreed. Rice is a FAAARRRR different campus and culture of students than SMU. Rice students are really smart, not necessarily wealthy. And you won't find a bunch of snobs around that campus. Honestly, they are a bunch of dorks. And that's not a bad thing- I like dorks. I am a dork. When I left the NT game @ Rice, I heard one of them say "man that sucks to lose, but at least we've got them on academics!" and I started laughing. It's just a different culture. It's not about $$$$ with them, its their education. Anyways, who honestly cares what any rice fans think. They are all upset/bitter over the Graham thing, (though in the long run, I think they come out better) so let them cry it out. Besides, I have little doubt we will go down there and whip em in '08- with some of their own guys.

I think you get a sports-crying exemption on this one... [From Sports Illustrated, By Rick Reilly] I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay For their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots. But compared with Dick Hoyt, I suck. Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in Marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a Wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and Pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day. Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back Mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. On a bike. Makes Taking your son bowling look a little lame, right? And what has Rick done for his father? Not much--except save his life. This love story began in Winchester , Mass. , 43 years ago, when Rick Was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him Brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs. "He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life;'' Dick says doctors told him And his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. ``Put him in an Institution.'' But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes Followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the Engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was Anything to help the boy communicate. ``No way,'' Dick says he was told. ``There's nothing going on in his brain.'' "Tell him a joke,'' Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a Lot was going on in his brain. Rigged up with a computer that allowed Him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his Head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? ``Go Bruins!'' And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the School organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, ``Dad, I want To do that.'' Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described ``porker'' who never ran More than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he Tried. ``Then it was me who was handicapped,'' Dick says. ``I was sore For two weeks.'' That day changed Rick's life. ``Dad,'' he typed, ``when we were running, It felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!'' And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly Shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon. ``No way,'' Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a Single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few Years Dick and Rick just joined the massive field and ran anyway, then They found a way to get into the race Officially: In 1983 they ran another marathon so fast they made the Qualifying time for Boston the following year. Then somebody said, ``Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?'' How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he Was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick Tried. Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii . It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud Getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you Think? Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? ``No way,'' he says. Dick does it purely for ``the awesome feeling'' he gets seeing Rick with A cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together. This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best Time? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992--only 35 minutes off the world Record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to Be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the Time. ``No question about it,'' Rick types. ``My dad is the Father of the Century.'' And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a Mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries Was 95% clogged. ``If you hadn't been in such great shape,'' One doctor told him, ``you probably would've died 15 years ago.'' So, in a way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life. Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston, and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland, Mass. , always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every weekend, including this Father's Day. That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy. ``The thing I'd most like,'' Rick types, ``is that my dad sit in the chair and I push him once.'' Excited About Our Recruiting Class So Far

no kidding. I have to drive through it to get to Dallas (round about way to Madisonville to avoid the mess that is the Woodlands and Conroe friday afternoons) and it whips me to death. Although, I would gladly take half their crowd on any given saturday! -

Scott Hall was a mediocre QB. He did what was asked of him (usually a play action pass after about 20 run plays). He didn't make a lot of stupid mistakes, which was good. but he is far from the BEST we have had... give me Brandon Kennedy. No question. He was a nightmare in pretty much every game he played including the already mentioned UT game. Then there was the Baylor game where he scored that TD off a fumble, rumbling tumbling his way to the endzone. One of the bests the Mean Green D has seen.

the guy never posts with perfect grammar- and they all know that- so one could rip apart anything he posts on here. I am not a fan of the use of improper grammar either, but I don't go out of my way to point out every single person's mistakes on a freaking message board. I just get over it and try to find the point of whatever the person was attempting to make- if there was one to be found. There are plenty of people that post on here with gud gramer skils that stil dont hav n-e-thing inlightening or inciteful to offer.

Do The Bb Coaches Have Your Confidence?
Eagle1855 replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Basketball
couple thoughts, in no particular order. supporting the team is different than being a fan of the coach (im having deja vu of Dickey talk about 6 months ago). I am coming up from Houston (pats self on back) to watch the WKU game, and I could care less what happens to Johnny Jones after this year. Slinker has had more than ample time. And I have a feeling both will be gone if they dont get to the NIT or Tourney this year. This appears to be a new era at NT- a re-commitment to athletics and a push towards becoming/being recognized as a "big time" university. fans show up to watch winning programs and/or teams they are familiar with play one another. Try to sell a friend on a UNT/ULL game. Not quite as easy as "hey I've got an extra ticket to the UNT/OU game" womens basketball bores the hell out of most fans and unless the team is really good, it is little more than an appetizer for the men's games. Just because this is "the most hardcore group of fans" doesnt always mean its the "group of fans that knows the most" or "group of fans that represents the interests of all NT fans". This is the group of fans who loves NT and makes the time to get on the internet and post about it. I know plenty of people that don't post and give plenty to the University and have several connections with the Athletic Department. Woohoo. Go me. To new fans, stay excited. go to games. It is fun. Don't let people bring your spirit down or discourage you from going. Great things are on the horizon for NT.
