Well thank god the pants will be white, otherwise we would just look like the next step in the Southlake progression. I'm not thrilled to hear about WHITE helmets. I'll wait til I see the uniform before I pass judgment, but as of right now...

He isn't?
-
exactly. It would be Comerica Park, and Comerica Statdium. Tiger Fans wont care. Would any of you Ranger's fans be upset of some school in Michigan named their stadium Ameriquest Stadium? is this even a possibility, or is this just wishful thinking?

do you mean SKIP Bayless? He does that to piss off everyone. That's his bit. He's an elitist idiot. The more people hear that kind of nonsense out of his mouth, the more they will talk about him and his mediocre show.

What Play Will Dodge Open With Against The Sooners?
Eagle1855 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
just a joke, dude. I'd say what he will wear is about as relevant as what play he will open with. sorry you didn't catch the sarcasm. What do you think Todd Dodge will be drinking on the sideline? Im guessing water. He seems like a water guy to me. -
Hey, we agree on something! I really think its great so many teams from the state could be in the tournament! Regarding New Orleans, that would be a PERFECT scenario for the Mean Green fans. I'd be there in a heartbeat, and it looks like tickets are still available. Not so, for most of the other locations.

can we enjoy one victory without worrying about what SMU thinks?

couple of friends and I watched it with NTDrummer at Champps in Houston... pretty light crowd. the bartender was also a fan of the mean green, having had an ex girlfriend who went there. still love hearing them say "and the first team from the lonestar state has clinched a tournament bid" on the radio here

It Is The Opinion Of The Fans In Lafayette..."
Eagle1855 replied to CMJ's topic in Mean Green Basketball
they are just picking on people who dont conform to "boardthink"... probably not worth explaining -
I'm not apologizing for anything. I said he should be let go if this is another one and done season in the tournament- it wasn't and he shouldn't be. I am very glad JJ finally got it done. I am proud of our team and what they have accomplished. I haven't been this excited about basketball in a long long time! Proud to say go mean green! And Im looking forward to attending my first Tournament game!

Eagle1855 replied to akriesman's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I agree, great summary! -
Great news! thanks for checking into it. I'll be there around 7 for some pre game grub and a couple libations.
-
yes, which is why this would be HUGE! especially if we got to play a team like UNC or one of the other teams people are talking about having a shot at the NC.

What Play Will Dodge Open With Against The Sooners?
Eagle1855 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I wonder what color shirt Dodge will wear. I like the green under armour polos. you know, the ones made out of that really cool fabric? I dunno though, lately he's sported the black UA shirt. It will probably pretty hot though, so maybe he will opt for the white polo with green accents. I bet he wears a visor as well. He likes visors. I'm not much of a fan of the visor, but it works for Dodge. -
they are waiting on our west coast alums to get to work

I live in the Upper Kirby area, so Champps will probably be my destination of choice! Do we know if they will be showing the game? I assume they will as its an off night for the Rockets. I'll be bringing a few with me... It would be great if we could get the Gulf Coast Exes in the area out!
-
They must be thinking about our football team... I believe our Bball team is/was ranked in the top 30s scoring in the nation For many reasons I would have rather played WKU whether we win or lose. This game worries me. In part, because they handed us our worst lost of the season, and because we haven't beaten them yet this year. You wouldn't think it would be easy for a team to beat another team 3 times in one season, but we have really struggled against them and aren't exactly running full-speed into this game- its more of a limp the way the last two games have gone. Im hoping we shake off the last two games and that the shots start to fall. that NCAA tourney bid would be really huge for our athletics program at a time like this!

Get Your Poster Idea On Espn...
Eagle1855 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Basketball
thats a great story -
curious if any of the Gulf coast exes are watching the games anywhere tonight or (hopefully) tomorrow night? Not sure I can make tonight, but I will definitely be somewhere tomorrow to watch the champ game (if I cant get off work to make the drive), assuming fortune keeps favoring the green.

I agree. Let's blame everything on the greeks. Its far easier than accepting reality (which was outlined in Quoner's response). Maybe the greeks should also stop spending thousands of dollars and man hours on those dumba$$ floats for homecoming every year. Not like the school or parade needs them. You want it both ways, but that isn't how it works. No credit for the positive, roast them for the negative. Meanwhile, 30k other NT students were nowhere to be found... interesting. I can see that no amount of logic or reasoning is going matter to you, SE66. Your mind is made up. I wont waste anymore of yours or my time.

I already said (now 3 times) that IF there was a way to postpone the event (or push it back a couple hours), they dropped the ball. Fact of the matter is, these events are planned several months in advance. They planned it for the week AFTER the regular basketball season ended, and the week before finals, etc before spring break so I would say they did their best to do it on a "dead" week of the year. No one could have known we would have a first round game at home. These are very large events, so I could understand if they couldn't rearrange it. People take off work to attend. I also don't know which event was held that night. Some of the events invite the Denton community to attend. I wish they could have made it out, but neither you nor I know the cricumstances around it so all this speculation is a waste of time. I'll be happy to email a few contacts I have and see what happened. In the meantime, spare us the "greeks dont support UNT" melodrama.

one guy isn't the spokesperson for the entire greek system, I'm sure you realize that. For every fat drunken idiot (and that goes for sorority girls too ), there's a couple of 3.0+ GPA students that work to pay for their education as well as their own dues. NT isnt like Texas or Tech where it seems like every single kid is living on their parents dime. Its a different breed of greek. There are plenty of people that attend sporting events and serve in leadership rolls on campus that you never hear about- its just easier to harp on the negative, which is pretty much the MO of this board most of the time (and I too am guilty of that). There was a year I attended 4 different meetings a week while working and going to school. Good for me. There are a lot of folks in that position. We always tried to get a large part of the chapter out to the basketball and football games. I would contend most greeks ARE big sports fans. You just throw it all on them because you know they are associated with a group and its easy to make blanketed statements. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with a fraternity during your years in college, I really am. Its obviously jaded your view of anyone who is affiliated with those organizations. Regarding leadership, the numbers speak for themselves. 85% of the student leaders on campuses across the country are greek. If there was a way for them to steer everyone into the Pit the other night, I think they should have done it. I already said that twice. If they could have done it and didn't, well then I think its a big mistake on their part. There are many ways the greeks can continue to help out with attendance, but to continue to crucify them as self-serving a-holes because the rest of the pathetically apathetic school body didn't make it out isn't fair. In my opinion, the entire school body dropped the ball Wednesday night. (Congrats, you baited me into a debate )

because of the greek system? just a joke... I agree, attendance is a big factor, which is why as a former NT greek I am annoyed to see that everyone wasn't encouraged to postpone practice. My question is, was it greek week practice, or was it the actual greek week functions? The original poster stated it was practice- which is easily moved. If it was the actual greek week itself, it is a much more difficult thing to reschedule as people plan their work and study schedule around those events and the dates for greek week are planned back in the beginning of the fall semester. In that case, they may not have been able to move it or plan on the off chance that we actually had a first round SBC game at home, as Adler stated. Either way, I would have liked to see them rearrange the schedule and make a huge showing. Would have been nice to have all the fraternities and sororities out in full-force. I personally think Greek Week is stupid, but whatever. Again, there were 30k other students that didnt make it to that game, so I encourage everyone to look elsewhere in your search for a scapegoat.

I think we were also en route to a 2-9 season and the weather was bad.... not much incentive, but I agree, it is a tough game to get people to attend. But then again, the majority of people that go to NT live or are from the metroplex... I think it will depend largely on the record and the weather. I think the schedule ensures we will have some pretty good-sized crowds at most home games. I think the Navy game will be huge, as will the opener against FAU. Looks like we will have a homecoming game against ULM or better yet, MTSU (which btw, why are we playing them at home again?).
