you know, not dropping that game to UTA and playing Nebraska closer (or even a win) would have probably made that possible (though still a pipe dream, and by "pipe dream" i mean "massive bong rip"). By the way, Nebraska managed to score 39 points in their game last night. Looks like they are about as adept offensively on the basketball court as they are on the football field.

and now I divert you to the "nothing else to do in South Carolina" argument... a better question would be, "name one school that is in a major media market that has a large enrollment, is a state school, is in a pretty lousy conference, hasn't had much success in athletics by national standards, isn't well-known nationally academically other then a music school, has to compete with pro sports teams nearby, plays in a state with 9 other Division 1A programs, and may or may not wear green yet STILL manages to draw large crowds" If anyone can think of one, THAT is the school we should emulate.

yes and at least one of them will jump up and cheer when we do it, only to become board fodder form months... its what they do in LaLaLand.... really i just dont ever want this thread to die. It has become me. It has consumed me.

<Greggo robot voice> Good point </Greggo robot voice> WIN WIN WIN WIN Let's talk about how freaking great its going to be to see the Mean Green in selection sunday. That's more fun. Perhaps I will start another thread on that. I wonder what Johnny Jones is going to wear, or what the first thing he will say when they interview him. I feel a GMG.com POLL coming on....

Well the selection show will be on every TV, I imagine, so Im not really worried about having our own TV or anything. Regarding the game itself, yes, probably the NW Mall will be best, but then again, we will be playing a #1 or #2 seed- we'll be on every TV anyways... I understand the thing about Rice and being down in the Rice Village, but Memphis is playing at home and they already smacked Rice once a couple weeks ago with a 99-63 blowout. Memphis is 16-0 in C-USA play, I just don't see them dropping one, at home with the #1 seed on the line... not that I wouldn't love to see Rice do it. I'm not sure Rice will win today anyways. But I'll go wherever there are mean green fans...

exactly. I really think it starts with freshman orientation. If you can get students excited from the get-go, you can hook them for life. Look at A&M (though I am in no way advocating brainwashing...). I agree with whomever posted about it becoming the "cool thing" to do. This is key. Almost any athletic event is fun when you are with thousands of other fans and friends all living and dying with every point scored.

watching party in Houston somewhere? Buff Wild Wings in the village?

It would be nice to see Rice make it to the C-USA final. They have shown they can beat UH, and the road would likely go through them in the Semis. That would almost certainly help us out. Be nice to see Tulsa make a little run as well. Can't hurt!

What Play Will Dodge Open With Against The Sooners?

overstatement of the decade? -
you think UNT give up something with Wells Fargo if they got into "bed" with Comerica?
-
I think they will. they don't want all the tickets going to our opponent's fans.

thats the problem with the dates the conference champ falls on- right before spring break when all the mid terms are usually held. At least with the Big 12 tourney, you have the games AFTER exams. Such is the price you pay to have your games on National TV, which I think we can all agree is of utmost importance at this point...

I asked why we always have to enjoy our success with a side of "what SMU is doing" and received tirade about everything you do for NT. Great. Like, I really do think it's great. We have an enormous student body that I wish had that kind of dedication. I just fail to see what it had to do with my original post in this thread. Most of my post was merely melodramatic sarcasm to prove a point- which was that going to Lafayette has nothing to do with SMU. And I've yet to figure out why the association was made in the first place. And if you are gonna do a show tune, something from the "Sound of Music" or "Oklahoma" would be nice... I'm a sucker for the classics.

thanks for the update, Keith, would have been great to see it!

thats not what I am talking about. I have a dozen things on my plate as well, and I imagine about 90% of the people on this board are in the same position. The difference is, I am not so self-righteous as to implicate myself being a fan above all others for being able to make the trip to Lafayette, then citing everything I do/have done for NT. The constant worrying about what SMU thinks about us makes us look like we are the stepchild they claim. The "its not enough to be successful, everyone else must fail" mentality is yawn-worthy. But then again, this is coming from Eagle1855 who isn't a "true" fan, or at least, hasn't drawn up a resume to show everyone what I have done for NT- but rest assured, Im working on it. Oh and hurry over there, they just lost their conference opener... now I do agree with you on this one, that was outstanding!
-
pat yourself on the back, Emmitt. you have a job that enables you to make the road trip everyone else on this board would have liked to do if they didn't have minor obligations like paying bills, supporting families, taking tests, etc. You are truly the picture of what an NT fan should be. Again, a round of applause for THE North Texas fan.

Regarding love, I've heard that Don Henley "will do that", so, I'd I have to give him the nod over Meatloaf.

And A Small Serving Of Sour Grapes
Eagle1855 replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I thought the entire game was pretty physical, both ways. And I am glad the officials let them play. I thought we got away with a few obvious fouls, but I think they did as well. Crying over fouls at a neutral site is absurd. Sorry you weren't the better team.
