I agree. And I'll even leave in the part about SMU when I say that Join the bandwagon. I think we should adopt Kinky's slogan. North Texas: Why the hell not?

Actually Im going to have to go with Texas Tech in a landslide on this one... not only obnoxious, but have a serious case of step child syndrome. Though I must admit it makes laugh how they always beat A&M at everything because it really burns the asses of the aggies. Which brings me to the only thing that really annoys me about aggies- there is an excuse for EVERYTHING. Aggies never lose, they just run out of time. Aggies never lose, refs conspire to help the other team win. And so on and so forth. That being said, I hope all the Texas teams go deep in the tourney. Except Tech. I hope BC beats them in the first round and Bob Knight literally explodes in the post game press conference after providing a profanity laced tirade of future ticket drops with a beet red face. That's quality programming. I dont really remember the Memphis fans at the last NO Bowl. Perhaps because I had a couple of those Pat Os hurricanes before the game and a frozen daquiri made with 151 for the walk to the Superdome. I think everyone was really nice, and I was probably the funniest, best-looking guy I ever knew that night...

I'll raise an ice cold Shiner to that!

what do you expect- we're talking about Memphis, TN. You'd be in a bad mood too if you had to go to school in that gorgeous city on the shining brown waters of the mississippi...
-
I had a friend who worked for Wyndham, so I am familiar with the employee rates and why you wouldn't want to disclose it... I'll just say Im jealous.
-
you can say that again, Arkansas has no business with an at large over some of the teams that got left out. I also found in laughable that Texas Tech got a 10 seed.
-
yeah, that's a good idea. I dont know why they would say to bring a lunch, don't they know they have food there? These Memphis fans, while they aren't the sharpest bunch, at least they are compassionate to make sure nobody is hungry during the game. Got to give them props for that.

I'll probably just buy lunch there, as New Orleans has pretty good food. Especially the beignets. Man I love me some beignets.

Who's Going To New Orleans For The Game?
Eagle1855 replied to mrsgreengoblin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
wow, thats the place I was talking about. when I called this morning, it was $169. I just went ahead and booked it cause I was thinking Id rather have a place to stay than worry about saving $50... but 199, that seems absurd. Make sure you tell them you are with North Texas. -
well if 20 people on GMG.com agree, I guess that makes me the idiot! Have fun in class! And if I was "opposed to NOT canceling classes", that would make me FOR canceling, right? Perhaps skipping class isn't in your best interest anyways, my friend.
-
nice post. These people that "suck" are the people that donate money to the athletics department who provides the teams that play in the GAMES YOU ATTEND. So chill out. Im not a student, I graduated 3 years ago. Just skip your stupid class. Its only one class, and its right before spring break.
-
is this a serious thread? cancel school? The purpose of college is education, not athletics. Its great we are in the tournament, but it is not the primary purpose of attending North Texas. I would be disappointed if they did that and I suspect they would get a lot of backlash for doing such a thing. Spring Break is next week. If people already have their midterms out of the way, just skip. Or let the professors decide if they want to hold classes Friday. No reason to cancel school. what "big" schools have done this in the past? also, my post should not be viewed as anti-athletics- I'm quite the opposite.

yeah the one the university is sending out is $169 a night... eeek -
I'm not suggesting Syracuse would "go it alone" or anything like that, just wondering if the size of the Big East will eventually cause more problems like this for their other teams.
-
when you order tickets, they ask you if you want to go ahead and reserve tix for game 2 on sunday if we advance, and they will just charge your card then (after the first round). You can pick them up at the same place as the first round tickets- which will probably be at the team hotel

Big 12 Championship
Eagle1855 replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Big 12 had some of the most exciting games to watch this year, so this was no surprise. great game to watch. Be interested to see what both teams do in the tournament -
Its Official We Are Playing #2 Memphis
Eagle1855 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I agree, this is why I think it will be a decent game through the first half before it gets blown wide open in the second. Good luck with the rest of the season! -
I think Syracuse was probably the team that most deserved to get a bid and instead got snubbed. There were other notables, like K-State and Drexel that I thought had a legitimate argument, and it's still up for debate whether Tech deserved the seeding they received (cal you say HOF coach?), but going 10-6 in the Big East isn't easy. With the ridiculous size of the Big East, do you think things like this serve as catalysts for a conference shakeup? From what I have read, I understand there are already concerns with the size of the conference, schools being basketball-only programs, etc... Thought it was interesting the 'cuse coach made a comment something to the effect of "if 10-6 in the Big East doesnt get you into the tournament, we shouldn't be in the Big East".

Yes, I've seen them play. I watched a mediocre UH team play with them for a half. I'd be happy with that this year. Honestly, I dont really care about hypotheticals. I'm just happy to be in the tourney with a 15 seed and it will be fun to go, regardless of the turnout. We played A&M really well AT their place last year. Im just glad we dont have to play Georgetown. Memphis played in a C-USA that isnt that much better than the Sun Belt. That's why I dont see them making it all the way. -

Eagle1855 replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Basketball
right, but i think we could have played with any of the C-USA teams (that arent memphis) and some of them gave Memphis a better game than you would have thought. All the top 8 teams are athletic, so I dont know that we could have "taken advantage" of anyone. I was really pulling for a matchup with A&M in NOLA, but I'll take Memphis. Either way, its a freaking tournament game. I'll take the 15 seed and the close proximity and enjoy it! -
