So what you are saying is, once you had one shaved beaver, you felt they should all be shaved? Let me tell you man, you are not alone.
-
actually, A&M said the 1.75 was as much as they were willing to offer. If he wanted more, he'd have to go elsewhere. I think its kinda sorry for A&M fans the way it went down. College coaches are the biggest whores in sports, but then again coaches arent ever assured a job either these days so its a catch 22. I guess you do what's best for your family. He'll just be another good coach to work at Kentucky, will likely win a title, but its all been done before there. He could have been a LEGEND at A&M, much like DKR at Texas. They would have named bulidings after him, etc.

shirt looks great! nice work

I'm looking forward to seeing us with the rest of these!

As stated before, its not the PC Police, its people who would like to see the university represented in a classy manner. The sinking ship is distasteful. Everyone I passed it to said the same thing- "I dont know about the ship...". Whether we think its a big deal or not, others will, so why mess with it? Its all a moot point anyways as it's being redesigned. Let's move on.
-
I hate the PC police and our obsession with PC as much as anyone but my initial reaction upon seeing the sinking battleship was that someone would almost certainly be offended. If it is offensive to ANY of our servicemen, I would reconsider it. That is entirely up to the exes. And the exes can still get "credit" for doing something without having a shirt depicting a sinking US Battleship... not really the same as the wrinkled dollar bill argument. That being said, many sportswriters use the term "sink Navy" in headlines when writing about a game the Navy lost... Ive never heard anyone up in arms over that. I guess for me its the ship, not the saying that causes me to pause. The more I think about it, the less I like the ship sinking...

SI Truth and Rumors North Texas used a ground-based attack that produced a pair of national rushing champions under former coach Darrell Dickey, but is now turning to a spread offense that features the passing game under new coach Todd Dodge. UNT is also moving back to a 4-3 defense after playing in a 3-4 last season. -- Dallas Morning News

Texas is going after the Duke coach.

Ok, serious suggestion. What if we had white helmets and instead of the "North Texas" on the side, we had a large green Crayola Crayon with an angry face on each side. Think about it. It would be completely unique to our school (unless of course Syracuse caught wind of my brilliant idea, but I think if we act fast we can ensure we will be the firsts to this party) and it accomplishes two things we (pretty much) all agree are of utmost importance: No "words" on the helmet, yet still provides a quite literal representation of who we are. Plus, it would look outstanding on Fox in all of our BCS Bowls. If someone would be so kind as to put together a mockup we can send it to RV, that would be greatly appreciated. The sooner we get the ball rolling, the sooner the rest of the nation will know just who the "Mean" green really are!

this is a really funny post

And the Big12 conference headquarters are also located in Irving,TX

Ok, exclude the part about scholarship.
-
Sorry, misunderstood you. Not interested in NT? Well he isn't going to get to play at Texas or OU, if that was what you were implying. Sure he may go to grad school there, but I highly doubt either of those teams would be interested in having him play there. Waste of a scholarship.
-
AND? He's still a mediocre QB at BEST on a Div 1AA team and doesn't want to play WR that would take up a scholarship for a year. I just don't see it.
-
It's his bit, just let him run with it. I have zero interest in Wasson. For anything. I don't see him providing much help at any position. He isn't good enough to QB a 1AA team, and he doesn't really want to play WR. What good is he to us?
-
For whom? Well, how about "the people that financially support the athletic department"... if they are doing this to provide more incentives to donors, Im 100% for it, and everyone that wants us to become a "big time program" should be as well. This is how it's done at the Texas', A&M's and OU's of the world. Frankly, I don't care about the people that sit and drink in the parking lot. they don't add anything to my game day experience and they don't help out with the numbers inside the stadium. Why would they suddenly not show up because its not as close to the stadium? And if you think about it, people not sitting within earshot of the announcer or within view of the scoreboard would actually be MORE likely to go inside to see the game, as that would be the only way they could hear it without turning on the radio (and if you do that, what's the point of even going?). I seriously doubt this move affects the "sit outside in the parking lot guy" at all. And even so, who really cares? I don't see any problem with moving the tailgate parties to a designated tailgating area an entire BLOCK away. I think it would only serve to IMPROVE the overall tailgate experience, as you would have everyone in a more concentrated area. I love the idea.

Ive got Georgetown over Florida in the Championship... and if that comes to fruition, I'll win all 3 of my brackets So for the sake of my pockets, GO HOYAS

Make no mistake, I am very glad that they were all there representing. This was not meant as an indictment on all the Pit Crew members, just kinda goes with what we were talking about in the Traditions thread in the Football section. We need some more chants to do during games so that we can avoid embarrassing ourselves as we continue our endeavor to grow into a "big time" athletics program!
-
Sorry, for the week old news, but I have been playing catch up this week after skipping out on work last week in favor of New Orleans... Once again, the Pit Crew (I assume that is who was on the second level above our section) wow-ed us all during the game in New Orleans by beginning an "overrated" chant during the first half against Memphis. Anyone know why? Last time this happened (@ home vs WKU) I apparently "missed" the inside joke, just wondering if it happened to me (and everyone else around us) again... If this was the Pit Crew, shouldn't they, as the "official student section for UNT", at least know when and when not to throw that out?
-
Well, like it or not WKU is a done deal. I hope Texas State moves up and then I hope it stops. Too many 1A teams as-is.
-
I am personally glad Rick killed it (which should come as no surprise ) because I think it looks stupid to the rest of college football. I know it's fun and I had fun doing it! But I think we have to think of something else. Yes, a lot of schools (probably MOST) light towers, several have cannons, etc.. those are traditions that aren't "exclusive" to any one university, whereas tortilla thing is so "off the wall" it looks like a rip off if anyone else does it. Especially when the other school is in the same state. Just my opinion. Im not one to rid us of "tradition" I just think that THAT "tradition" needs to be saved for when we play Tech, as a sort of "right back at you" gesture. I agree 100%. While at the tournament game a guy came up to us wearing a North Texas shirt and asked, "hey you guys Mean Green fans?". After we told him we were, he informed us that he was a Badgers fan but had bought the shirt (the new color green t-shirt with white letters (black outline) "North Texas") because he liked it and was pulling for us to win. He asked "what are some chants you guys do so I can participate" and I froze. "Uh, well, we sometimes chant North, and then another part of the crowd chants Texas... and then we stand and clap while the fight song is played and kind of sing.... and um... well...". So I am glad to hear you discussed this with her. BTW way, she is awesome. Just had to get that in there...
