I seriously doubt UT and NT are the only schools that chant back and forth in the stands, so I dont consider that to be something we "lifted" from them (like the Tech and tortilla thing which is a blatant rip off), nor do I consider Boomer a copycat move. I like those things just fine... I'd just like to do something at games besides the fight song over and over and over, which is why I think this is a good thread. Actually, you'd be wrong there as well. I think plenty of things are stupid but I participate in them anyways because it's my school. I'd venture to say many Aggies think some of their sayings are stupid as hell (like the chant listed in this thread) but it's a lot of fun when the whole stadium gets involved in it (I guess...aggieland is a weird place)

if we could get back to throwing tortillas when we score, start having yell practices the night before the game, keep the homecoming bonfire going strong, continue chanting North and Texas back and forth between the crowd, fire off the cannon when we score, and designate a street somewhere near the stadium the official tailgate area calling it "The Avenue", we would have as much tradition as all the other schools in the state combined... If you're feeling really crazy, we could even put together an annual "hex" rally for MTSU. That's sure to be a fan-favorite.

well I'm not sure that would happen. We would have about a decade head start on them if we got the stadium and baseball team by 2010ish. Our facilities are already vastly superior. They play in a high school stadium, though as you stated it could be upgraded. They do have a nice, new facility at the (south?) endzone. All the numbers they are playing with are nice, but who says that by the time they get to 17 mill we wont have an athletic budget closer to that of U of H or the other C-USA teams? There are a lot of variables to consider, we just need to keep moving at the pace we are going and not take any steps back. We cant afford to do that anymore. It will certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out in the upcoming years.

they play spare teams... half the students are Texas fans because they play in "real" division. When they were in the playoffs, the students showed up. I believe that if they moved to 1A, they would easily rival us in fan support. We better get our stuff together in Denton over the next few years, because I honestly agree with DDA... they would challenge us pretty quickly in football. We need to get a baseball team and finish our stadium to clearly set ourselves a part as a program. I hope the couple of years of Dodge ball we get will do just that. I'd hate to see C-USA realign and include TxState (for the Austin/SA market and a team with baseball) and leave us out in the cold again. I think it would be fun to have them in the 'belt- we've played them more than any other program. Would create a natural rivalry, and Im always down for a river trip.

I was with you til you made the foundation of your case what happened on a freaking video game... haha, but I understand what you are trying to say and to an extent, I agree. The sunbelt sucks, everyone knows it. We DID get a couple top 25 votes in 2003 when we went 9-3 before the bowl game. Had we finished 10-3, we would have probably snagged the #25 spot (or been close to it). The sun belt is a better league now than it was, so I think its fair to say that with an undefeated season we'd grab a spot somewhere in the top 25. I kinda feel like maybe we should win all of our games before we start bitching about whether we would or would not (should or should not) be ranked...

i know, i was using sarcasm to illustrate my opinion that we need all the fans we can get... I would all but expect UNT-Dallas fans to be UNT sports fans. They are in the same market, they dont have any sports teams, and wont have any on the same level for a good while.

some of my favorites... -possible what if conference realignment scenarios -if we beat OU, _________ -how SMU (the man) has managed to keep NT down, including lamentations of what could have led to eventual membership in the Big 12 -why the stadium isnt going to be built and perhaps the answer to all of the previously listed threads, -why hasnt the athletic department put up more signs? Signs = people.

that's true, but with our conference schedule, I imagine anything short of an undefeated season will make it tough to get as high as 17...

The advantage to the U-N-T Eagles Fight Fight Fight is that we already use it at the end of our fight song, so it's not starting something new, its just taking and adapting something we already have and making it a bigger part of the game day experience.

dont you mean, "which shade of green do you prefer?" That way we can get people saying things like "build it forest green or don't build it at all"... or the "I like Kelly Green, just PLEASE dont paint 'North Texas' on the side". Personally, I say make it with the interlocking NT or cancel football.

And now begins the barrage of butt-hurt UNT fans because we dont have a stadium and they do, blah blah blah Good for Michigan. If we had the kind of money and alumni support, I'd love to see that kind of stuff here. Someday...

Lots of good points, I think this is the key. This was the problem last year playing at Texas. It just wears a defense out having an offense go 3 and out and then being forced to play short fields all day. Regarding OU's offense, Allen Patrick isn't Adrian Peterson, but he's a very capable RB . He's incredibly fast and I imagine we'll see plenty of him before the day is done. You miss an assignment, he's gone.

I wasnt saying anything negative about it at all... dont be so sensitive. I was merely pondering if there more we can do besides sign up and say we feel bad... there is strength in numbers. There are currently 623 people signed up. I imagine we could raise a lot of money or send a lot of cards, etc with that size group. thats all. It's a great start, just trying to think bigger

This is true... they haven't ever had much of a problem with Tech's offense or any one like it. They have been torched on the ground, however, in various games.

was wondering the same thing. I joined the group, but it doesnt really do anything except say "we feel bad". I'd love to help out with a fund raiser of some sort, but I don't really know what it would go to, or how it would best serve the ailing community.
