  1. Do you mean Randle El? Either way, I agree with your assessment. Im not sure what anyone has seen out of Meager in the last couple years that makes them think he's going to magically turn awesome this year. Dodge is a QB guy... I feel good having him evaluating the QBs. I'd love to have a guy like Wilson run the offense. His athleticism is a huge asset. That being said, my money's still on Vizza to be the starter.
  2. are you referring to post-season play?
  3. From everything I have heard, Vizza was recruited with the intent he would play this year. He was told he would have a shot at being a starter and contributing right away. That was one of the reasons he chose us over Nevada, so I'd be surprised if he was red shirted. Dodge thinks pretty highly of him... he was the only QB he went after this past year.
  4. haha 20k of our fans... at an AWAY game? come on... I think we'll make a decent impression and many of our fans will travel to see (I bought 4 tix myself), but 15-20k is a stretch. That being said, I'd love to see it! This is a game that makes sense. I hope they continue the series. Whether SMU admits it or not, it's good for both schools.
  5. While your comments are amusing, the train wreck that is the Texans has nothing to do with the Cowboys choke job last year... just a joke, ladies... breathe...
  6. Considering we've already gone 9-3 a few short years ago and nobody really cared "because we didnt beat anyone that mattered", I'm gonna have to go with 'A' on this one. Though I honestly cant envision a situation where we knock off top-ten-ranked OU then win just 5 more games the rest of the season- especially playing in the awfulness that is the Sun Belt. People are waaaay too obsessed with SMU... SMU is pretty much irrelevant to the rest of the college football world. OU, however, is not. They wouldn't just talk about it for a couple days, they'd talk about it all year.
  7. Place-kick Holding : The Physics of Holding Onto The Football From what I understand, it's an exhaustive, week-long look at the importance of holding onto the football in big games, specifically how to get your guys to use otherwise controversial forces like friction to their advantage... Not sure why the Cowboys coach would be interested in something like that...
  8. Well-said, and I agree with the sentiments expressed. My only point of contingency is quite simply the fact that Mattress Mack donated that money and the AD accepted and by doing so, he is entitled to have that thing named whatever the hell he wants.
  9. Ive always thought a 3rd uni that was mostly black with the green and white trim could be sharp, but I don't see it happening now that we will purportedly sport white helmets... That picture above is a disaster, however. Truly an embarrassment for any college program.
  10. Based on what we saw out of Todd Graham in a very short time at Rice, I've gotta give the nod to Tulsa, but I think this years C-USA West race is very much wide-open. UH will be breaking in a new QB, Rice a new coach. UTEP could surprise a few people but is also replacing a QB, and SMU has as good a chance as ever (though their D-Line is suspect), depending on how it all plays out. My best guess: Tulsa UTEP UH SMU Rice Tulane Again, you could probably put UTEP, UH, and SMU in any order you want as I'm guessing their conference records will only be separated by a game or so- or who beats who head to head.
  11. Exactly! Now we can move on.
  12. Actually, if you scroll through some of those schools helmets, you'll see a lot of them have changed several times over the years- it's not just us. Many schools unveil new unis each year (though not usually the same schools every year ). Outside the big 4 (A&M, UT, Nebraska, and OU) the rest of the Big 12 has changed up their looks over the years Although I agree, we do seem to change quite a bit. I hope that whatever is unveiled this fall will be able to stick around for a good while.
  13. In typical NT fashion, we can't enjoy any good news without finding out what SMU thinks, or posting it all over their board.
  14. well, it worked for us with Bryant Seidle... Still think we give SMU waaaay too much time. This will be a tough game for us. New offense wtih players that don't necessarily fit it, coupled with a switch back to a 4-3 defense could make for a tough September. I really hope we pull it off, but SMU is in a much better position to make a run in C-USA than we are in the SBC... at least on paper. Who really knows. This is why we play the games! I for one hope RV can find a way to keep this game going.
  15. Todd Dodge has so far been pretty good for UNT.
  16. Much to the chagrin of my father, yes: North Texas Opponents
  17. I think it's probably as simple as they just don't know off hand the exact # of tix sold yet. I doubt it's any secretive or shady doings by the AD (though I admit my explanation IS far less exciting). And if the $4 prevents anyone from going, please shoot me a PM. I buy season tix every year, but can't always make every games because I live in Houston. I'll be happy to give them to another Mean Green faithful who NEEDS them (not someone who just doesnt want to pay...).
  18. Thank you. I don't have any notarized transcripts of my conversations with RV (sorry FFR), and I can't recall where I read it. I'm not the only one who remembers this, so I figure that's proof enough. No, it's not the above posted article (unless that donation WAS the spring announcement), but I am 100% positive RV mentioned something about making a big announcement this spring and it sounded like it would be related to the stadium project. If someone could find the article or thread, it would be much appreciated! I searched for it earlier and couldn't find it.
  19. He did, but I'm not sure it was on this board, perhaps in a newspaper- or maybe he just told me, I don't remember. But it wasn't 2 years ago- it was this past fall/winter.
  20. Once again, if you guys honestly believe it is a good idea to copy a school in a tradition that is so clearly unique to Texas Tech, and view that as the same thing as the wave, I give up. It's not even close to the same thing, but go on believe you are right. Hell, you guys are always right... you have the most spirit and all the best ideas. I was an idiot for ever disagreeing with either of you (The Emmitt and The FFR)- the greatest fans in the history of UNT athletics. What was I thinking? When's the hex rally for MTSU? I'll be there in my North Texas garb, green tortillas in hand. See you on "The Avenue"... until then, Im out.
  21. now lets hear about that recruiting class coming off that Tourney visit...
  22. just a joke dude... thanks for breaking it down line by line, though. someday I hope to have as big a pair for NT as you... until then, I'll just keep traveling to games, donating money, etc... I suppose I should get back to work so that I can continue to do that.
  23. I agree. I dont see why it is so difficult. I understand there are many different shades of green, but the university should make sure people only print the correct colored ones- otherwise no license. I'm sure this is something that time will sort out... until then, enjoy your toothpaste
  24. Actually, from where I sit, you and your crew on GMG.com are the ones that are in the minority. I can point you to hundreds of people that have attended or are currently attending UNT that think the tortilla thing is a big Tech rip off, but whatever. How the people on this board that love it cant seem to understand that is still beyond me, but it wont do any good to argue about it. Plus, we 'whiners' already won! I only brought it up because someone said the UT/NT chants were the same, and I dont view that as "ripping UT off". I assume you feel the same way. Lot's of schools chant back and forth at the stadium. I went to NT. I assure you that if I was easily offended or upset by what people at other schools think, I would have just gone to those schools and thus avoided it all together. I've always enjoyed going against the flow, which is why I didn't go to Texas or Texas Tech. Im not one of the people who went to NT because everything else fell through, I assure you. I like boomer, I think its fun. In fact, I never really even associated it with UT. It's been around for a while, it is a part of NT. That is a good thing! As I already stated, I think its great the university is pro actively looking to address this and implement something new. It's much-needed. We need our own things so that we can avoid being "copy catters". Its much more fun to participate in something that is exclusively yours to own, that you can be proud of!
