Oh Im not saying there arent similarities- there certainly are. I just have a feeling the rest of the college football world will view it as a classic look like that of Auburn's rather than some HS in the DFW area. We cant do anything about the fact that our colors are the same. Like I said in my first post, I'd expect some teasing in the short run but if we stick with it for the long-term, we'll end up being the ones that are nationally known for our unis. And I hope the "hit" stickers aren't used. I think they are too busy and make helmets look bush league (save Ohio State).

yeah, and the face mask is a different color. and the logo on the side looks nothing like the North Texas writing. But other than that, it's an exact copy. Nevermind the fact that we havent even seen what the full uni's look like...

Stop being so logical, it will only get you in trouble! After all, if it makes sense, what would we have to bitch about? I imagine with all the people on this board, you could find 3500 different uniform combinations based on differing preferences. While it isn't my personal favorite, I do like it and I hope we stick with this for a long, long time. Start winning a bunch of games and nobody will care what uniform we are wearing or whose it resembles. Again, not everyone in the nation knows- OR EVER CARES- who Southlake Carroll HIGH SCHOOL is... but they are familiar with Auburn... and Under Armour... and they will be familiar with UNT by the time Dodge leaves- bank on it!

I thought about this, and it does concern me some, but then realized Southlake is a freaking HIGH SCHOOL and that nobody outside the DFW area would even make the association on their own ( I mean, can you name the various highschool colors and mascots of Houston, Austin or San Antonio-area Highschools? If the answer is YES, you are a HS coach or you have too much free time). I dont think it's going to be a big deal (in the long run) but I'd definitely brace for some jeering in the short... The helmet scheme seems to go with the same theme as other schools using under amour, leading me to believe this is more a case of terrific coincidence than Dodge trying to bring over the same look from SLC. not bad company...

I really like the helmet. I was caught off guard at first, but the more I look at it, the more I dig it. Cant wait to see the rest of the uniform.

Im actually interested in seeing OK-St play @ Georgia. Interested to see if Bobby Reid is the real deal. If so, Big 12 South could be interesting. Especially after we pull off the upset in Norman.

North Texas Texas, my first college football "team" Houston, remember my dad taking me to watch them play back during the Andre Ware/David Klingler years. After that I generally root for Texas teams. I LOVE watching SEC football. Some of the most talented athletes and most die-hard fans in the nation.

no. As far as I know, we came the closest of anyone in 2003. Had we won the New Orleans Bowl, we likely would have cracked the top 25 with at a 10-3 record.

In that scenario, yes. we would say no again for many reasons (which have been listed on here ad nauseum since it first came up) but also because a WAC without Boise State probably isn't any better than a Sun Belt with a strong Troy & North Texas team (which is the way I see it going in the next 2 years) accompanied by decent WKU, MTSU and ASU teams.

I think C-USA has to be our goal right now. It makes the most sense geographically and its full of familiar teams. If the MWC came calling as a travel partner with TCU, you'd absolutely have to consider it. I would love to have home games against the likes of TCU, BYU, CSU, etc. Sincerely, The only guy on the board that doesn't care about building up the Sun Belt conference.

Of course he would! Are you kidding me? His job is not to play his son or Vizza, his job is to put the best guy on the field that he thinks gives our team the best chance of winning. Maybe that's Riley, maybe it's Vizza, or maybe it's someone we havent even thought about yet. The OU game can't get here soon enough...

OU didnt play SMU in '05. But it does mean that they lost to Tulsa, Baylor, and Kansas... and they re-lost to Tech, even though they didn't actually lose to them the first time...
