  1. bwahahhaa, let them all get their shots in now because after this year, it's all going back to the way they remembered it in 01-04. Over the last 2 years, we werent getting the little things done that we did in the past (like get first downs). With our recruiting off and running, with a new attitude and new mentality instilled in these players by the new coaching staff, etc, there's no reason to believe we will be anything less than #1. Again. For a while.
  2. I wish I could find solace in that... but I can't. I still think of what could have been. I'm not saying anyone could have beaten the cowboys those years they won the championships, as they were a damn good squad, but you still wonder what might have been. That was a pretty good Oiler's team... At any rate, Im done revisiting painful sports moments. Sorry for derailing the thread. Any word as to what teams were interested in Quinn?
  3. I generally prefer over-medium eggs to scrambled. Unless it's mixed with chorizo. Chorizo never seems to mix well with anything other than scrambled and scrambled eggs are easier to put into a tortilla.
  4. Ditto. The Bills were responsible for the single most heart-breaking catastrophe I've witnessed in my sports-watching life. Nothing like being on the losing-end of a game most refer to as "The Comeback" that provides a guy a lucrative motivational speaking career...Congrats to Frank Reich, though.
  5. man I'd love to see him down here (Houston). we could use another slot guy with good hands
  6. I agree, it's pretty equitable this year. But, I still wish them failure. In every single game they play. Until the end of time. I don't thinking bitching about Notre Dame is a Big 12 thing- I think it's a REST OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL thing.
  7. Iowa State is playing 2 Div 1AA schools, couldn't find a big 12 school playing 3 1AA's this year however most of them are playing at least one (only exceptions are CU, OU, Texas, and Nebraska who don't play any). The SEC is the worst offender. Only LSU is playing an all-Div1A schedule. Of course, if you had to play in the muderer's row that is the SEC, you can probably have a pass for one cupcake game a year. The Big Televen isn't much better- only Michigan State and Penn State are cupcake-free. The winner is the Pac 10, with only Oregon State playing a Div 1AA team. In the ACC, about half the teams (7 of 12) play 1AA schools The Big Least shows only Syracuse and WVU play a legit schedule, with rest having at least one 1AA. Pitt is actually playing 2 Div 1AA schools (guess Wan-stache is tired of losing), yet CFN still has them ranked the 2nd most difficult sched in the BE.. go figure
  8. what's a coinsidence and who is Common Emmitt?
  9. wow... I mean that's a solid, under-the-radar (can I say that?) play... but 'wow' neverthenonetheless. this thread is giving me super tired-head. And not the good kind like when I get home from a hard day's work and my lady friend is there to make it better...
  10. This is all a great idea, I'm just not sure as to the feasibility of it. What are the odds of something like this taking place? Doesn't it seem to favor the current S.Belt schools more than C-USA? And don't you think some of the geographic stretch of the conferences (in their current form) is desirable for recruiting purposes? I dont really know one way or the other, just curious as to other's thoughts.
  11. Well if those two are so great (keep in mind neither have yet played a down of college football), we won't really need a super QB recruit for a year or two. Then we can use that 'ship or two on more O-line depth.
  12. I'm not missing any points. In fact, I think you might have misunderstood what I was saying- and maybe I missed some of the original intent of the poster I commented on. I was merely commenting about why C-USA carries a bigger "name" than the Sun Belt. I too could give a F about what the conference is called- if it contains ULL, ULM, FAU, FIU, etc and it has ONE bowl tie in, it's inferior to a any conference with UH, Southern Miss, Utep, etc, that has muliple bowl tie-ins and is full of schools that have more money/fan support, on average than the sun belt. As it stands, C-USA has the bowl tie-ins. I'm not disputing whether or not that could change with a massive shakeup between conferences- schools aren't going to want to go to the Sun Belt without some guarantee it won't be all or nothing for a bowl berth. Otherwise, I cant imagine a single school from C-USA agreeing to such an exchange. Now I'm going to drag my knuckles over to the kitchen (as soon as I stop scratching my head) to get me some food because "me work up big hunger after much read"
  13. I have a lot of respect for your knowledge of college football and the insight you provide on this board, but are you really arguing with my point- which was made about C-USA's name relating to things as they currently stand (reality)- based on a bunch of hypothetical "what could be's"? Come on... Currently, C-USA has more bowl tie-ins than the Sun Belt. It has more national coverage, it is a more nationally-respected conference (right or wrong, is inconsequential). Go ahead and cite the 4-3 record against them in football last year- it doesn't matter to me (or most college football fans outside the sunbelt). I'd still rather play SMU, UH, Rice and UTEP every season. I'm not a proponent of building the 'belt with the current members and I never will be. ULL, ULM, FIU, FAU, etc, will never hold much interest to me outside of being another necessary step along the way to winning the conference- again. Outside of that, what they do is immaterial. This Western C-USA and Eastern SBC talk is great. In fact, I'd love to see it. I think it WOULD be beneficial to all parties involved. But my allegiance is NT, first and foremost. If given a choice, ceteris paribus, I would go with C-USA every time.
  14. It's not just the name, it's also the fact that CUSA has more bowl tie-ins and more national coverage.
  15. mine were $47...
  16. I think it was actually 03, but either way, they SHOULD have tix for students. I mean, that's the big group you want traveling to the games right? Those are the ones that make the noise (at least it was when I was there). I can't imagine we sell our entire allotment to OU before the students have a chance.
  17. I think bowl movements are important I also think C-USA has too many bowl tie-ins for a mediocre conference.
  18. guess I misunderstood your post. Reading Comprehension and I arent getting along today. neeevvveeerrrrmiind... nothing to see here...
  19. Of course, when I posted my original comment, I didn't realize one of our own was really interested in the position...
  20. not to be argumentative, but Rick V or Dr Bataille didn't come from UNT either. Granted, this is a much smaller scale, business is business. If this guy knows what he's doing (and it sounds like he does), this is a good hire.
  21. In my experience, Texas' best BBQ is found in central and south texas. I haven't had much luck in the Dallas area. Spring Creek, Colters, and Dickey's are all terrible, and are not representative of the great BBQ joints that can be found across this great state. There's nothing that beats a slow cooked, smoked brisket that just falls apart as you cut it.
  22. no kidding. here we go again...
