  1. I dont think the profs are dogging athletics, rather they are saying getting more involved in that "structurally seperate" part of the university is a waste of their time. I tend to agree.
  2. Id prefer Texadelphia to SRO, personally- assuming they are in fact showing the game
  3. i very well may have to do so.
  4. things are not looking good at FIU. 18 straight? that's brutal.
  5. because the Sun Belt is so awesome, hellooo. 1 down, 6 to go. Troy is going to get upset this week as NT ruins homecoming. Enter Todd Dodge era...
  6. man i hope Sherman doesnt go to Collie Station... i like him with the Texans. I've listened to all kinds of delusional agtards calling in to radio stations in Houston about who they think will replace Fran. They apparently think its still a high profile job as they've rattled off names like Steve Spurrier and Gary Kubiak- with total sincerity- and that its only just a matter of money. Living in a city full of A&M and LSU fans, you get to a point where nothing really surprises you.
  7. I dont think it will affect us much. They are gonna bring in a big name guy thats going to reinvigorate the program, much like Dodge has done for us. I think firing Fran will actually HELP their 08 class. Word is, A&M has already reached a buyout deal with Fran. Guess you can kiss this season goodbye, if you're an Ag fan.
  8. SMU cant AFFORD to hire a big name coach. For that reason, it'll be interesting to see the names that surface. A&M, however, most certainly will. If they were willing to pay a basketball coach that much, you can be certain they'll back the Brinks truck up to whoever they have their eyes set on. They are tired of losing. Im thinking a certain Auburn coach might be interested...
  9. Rick shouldnt have to apologize for anything he has said or any opinions he has expressed. It's DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL. This is the highest level of college football. There is a lot of money in the business now, and for better or worse, coaches will be heavily scrutinized (fairly and unfairly). No matter how you slice it, coaches confronting fans based on their concerns/opinions/nonsense expressed on a freaking message board is BUSH LEAGUE.
  10. its on ESPN gameplan. I ordered it last week, its about $20. Might do that again. not sure if I can make SRO, may be going to the UH/Rice game that afternoon with the old man. If he's game, we'll do it. anyone else going to SRO?
  11. i liked their stadium...fans were close to the field and it was loud! Also really dig the endzone blanket area.
  12. well, we saw flashes of improvement last week (albeit against an injured ULL team). If Chapman and Thomas can start getting pressure, that'll help the DBs a lot. Of course that wont matter much this week. We just have to keep them from getting to the outside where we are out-matched with speed.. That's been our Achilles heel for giving up the big play. I agree with the analysis- the least turnovers = win. I think Vizza comes out more confident, makes less mistakes giving us the surprise (wow) first win of the season, at home.
  13. I think it's actually spelled "bi"
  14. great story! thanks for sharing. Hits close to home. I got on with Team in Training this past year, which raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. A lot of progress has been made in the past 10 years towarss finding cures and treatment for blood-borne cancers because of the donations made to this organization. If you are looking for somewhere to make a difference with your $s, it's definitely something to consider.
  15. does your ability to foretell the future work on everything, or is it limited to UNT football games? Cause Im thinking if you can get us the winning megamillion #s, we could get that alleged new stadium started this weekend.
  16. thank you
  17. Here's to hopin it's ULM, this weekend
  18. no kidding, what's his story? He had some really good moments in that game. And he's a pretty good-sized dude.
  19. This, I agree with 100%.
  20. Agreed. While I wouldn't go as far as to say we have 1AA level players as that is probably unfair, there's definitely a gap in the level of talent- as a whole- compared to other D-1A schools in Texas. That's not a knock on our players, that's just the way it is. We've got a couple guys MANY schools would love to have, but as a whole, we're lacking. Everyone on this board knows Dickey mailed it in with respects to recruiting Dallas area players years ago. Wasn't a Dallas area coach recently quoted saying it was the first time a UNT coach had been in there in years? That has an effect on talent, as this is one of the more talented recruiting regions in the nation.
  21. You and I both know there are a lot of other factors as to why our team has had a tough go at SMU- and it wasnt just the defense. Offensive play affects defensive stats, and turnovers killed us. SMU wasnt firing on all cylinders last year, they were this year. It was at their place, their fans. Im not measuring egos, I'm just tired of people on this board questioning people's fan status based on differing opinions. I don't think there needs to be a feeding frenzy every time someone presents an alternative point of view. Also, I've never thought Dodge (aka, God) was infallible. I've criticized and questioned several things he's done, and one of them was bringing an entire HS staff with him.
  22. I mean, there's really no difference in a 2-9 or an 0-fer season. They are both craptacular. It's how we follow up in the next couple seasons that will really give us an idea of what direction the program is headed. I think we'll be fine.
  23. It isn't tearing down players saying they dont have the talent to compete at the level on which Dodge intends- it's just reality. If you think that the only reason we got blown out by Tulsa, UT, LSU, KSU, etc were due to Dickey's play calling, you're simply wrong. There's a talent gap that Dodge plans to close. Whats more annoying is people putting the word fan in quotations to imply someone isn't a true fan (like yourself, i guess) because they dont subscribe to "board think" and choose to look at the reality of the situation with out green-tinted glasses, or "objectively".
