yeah he's ridiculous. had the pleasure of watching him go off on Rice a couple weeks ago. he's something special. They've also got a WR, Avery, that is actually a step faster than Alridge. Regarding the Troy fellatio-fest that has flooded the board since our embarrassment, everyone should remember they turned the ball over 7 times in that game. Had they been playing a good team with any semblance of an offense, they would have had a tough time winning- regardless of whether or not they got respect in the top 25 poll.

Tulsa, UH and UCF could all "hang" with Troy if any were to go to the NO Bowl. I suspect UH will be in the liberty bowl once again. They scared the hell out of Bama on the road, played a solid game against top 10 Oregon on the road before the turnover monster got a hold of them. One thing they have that i want is ridiculous amounts of speed at the skill positions. Id love to see C-USA replaced with an ACC team.

you're killing me, Smalls. Non-BCS is non-BCS with regards to the BCS. None of them have automatic bids. For that reason, all other things being equal, you stick with a conference that promotes regional rivalry/interest. For UNT, CUSA accomplishes this, the WAC does not.

as stated in my post, regional rivals. like it or not, UH, Southern Miss, UTEP, Tulane, and SMU are far more enticing opponents than most of our Sunbelt brethren (from the casual fans perspective). Im not saying they are better programs, but they have a name...perception/reality. Additionally, it would be a great benefit to our school to play a game or two in Houston every year. There's a lot of talent down there and most of the city doesn't realize UNT is Div 1.

Just where the hell is boise state going? Certainly not to the Pac 10. They have neither the academics, money, nor any competitive sport outside of football to make that move. Is the MWC really that much better? I agree- non BCS is non BCS. Stick to a conference with regional rivals and win all your games. National attention/respect will follow, regardless of conference affiliation. C-USA is and should be our goal. In the meantime, it would be nice to be competitive in our current conference.

good breakdown well said... like i said earlier, itsa a process. pieces are scattered, but once they all fall into place, we'll know what kind of team we really have, and i think we'll be just fine!

Is it hard to type up there on your high horse? I already offered ways to deal with this. I already agreed it is lame. I just think you need to keep it positive when dealing with these kinds of issues. This cavalier "have a heart to heart" bullshit wont win any fans, and in the long run hurts us more than it helps... no matter how awesome it makes you feel for getting the chance to really "take it to" someone in a UT hat.

I watched the first 3 qtrs at Texadelphia in H-town (which was awesome on a perfect day...) Our O-line failed to protect Vizza, so its hard to say how well he did. I do know that he is freaking tough, popping right up after getting massacred back there. Also wasnt afraid to stand in there and throw the ball knowing the shot was coming. We started the game out giving them a short field score, then went 3 and out, then gave up a PR for a TD. 6 minutes in it was 14-0. Seems to me this is the exact opposite of what we wanted to do... Going for it on 4th down kills us. Score could have been 28-9 at half (far more manageable than 28-0). We need a kicking game in the worst way. Troy is just more athletic and more experienced running their game. We'll get there, give it time. It is what it is, a L. Lets get ready for HOMECOMING!

i think it speaks to the lameness of our alumni and fanbase more than it is an indictment on the ath dept... i mean, who lets their kid go to a UNT event dressed like that? what are you going to do about it if you're the athltic department? You really cant turn them away. All you can do is ask they be outfitted in green next time, give out some free t-shirts and caps for the kids if they'll trade ya. That or you could tie the kids to a post and go South Asia on them with a bamboo stick, but that'll prob cost you from a PR point of view.

just send in a couple of these bad boys, they'll take care of it...
