  1. here we go again with the "on the job training" bit. not sure why anyone thinks UNT is a place where coaches go to learn to coach at the D-1A level. This isn't coaching school. As Dan Hawkins would say, IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL
  2. actually, im not necessarily opposed to that, in principle, either... the facts of this case are still yet to be determined... what I do know is that I am sick and tired of people like Quanell X coming out the woodwork to defend CRIMINALS who were in this country ILLEGALLY- who had a history of committing crimes in this country- on the sole basis of RACE. Big f-n YAWN. I don't know whether or not Horn was justified in his actions, but I do know those idiots would probably still be alive had they not been breaking into people's homes. Betcha don't see a lot of people trying to break into that neighborhood anymore...
  3. no doubt, if for no other reason that population density.
  4. Couple thoughts. Not sure how we "demolished" SMU when we only averaged a few hundred more per game... which is especially pathetic considering we averaged about half our total enrollment. I don't see how FIU will stay Div 1. yeah, they beat us, but they are awful, they have no attendance... what's the appeal? Can we trade them for La Tech? (kidding, but it would be preferable)
  5. oh the recent grads are there... Im an '03 (and the term 'recent' is all too quickly fading away) and we have several people in section D, we just get beaten down by the "SIT DOWN" people around us...
  6. pretty tasteless. Additionally I can't believe Penn State's enrollment is almost 90k. That's got to be the largest in the US, right?
  7. this year it was played in the Alamo Dome. And I too love watching WVU play. Their stadium supposedly gets pretty loud, though I can't speak from personal experience. Back to the topic at hand, this would be a good hire for Arkansas. I have to wonder, with all the success some of these non-trad powers have had (Kansas, Mizzou, WVU, etc), why leave Wake? I mean, if Kansas could have played for it all... why not Wake?
  8. fixed it for you. Im not a fan and would laugh my ass off if this is the "big hire" they've been waiting on. I honestly expect more out of Orsini. His track record indicates he could do better. The James bit is probably a joke.
  9. well they are right, and on the flip side, we could blame our abysmal start on a meltdown to begin the game. The reality is, oftentimes meltdowns are created by another team's intensity. UT clearly brought it to start the game, caught our guys off-guard. Our guys brought it with a fury in the middle of the second. Honestly, I was amazed we got within 9 points after being down 17-3 to start the game. Im not content to lose games by 16, but for a team that is still coming together, I see a lot of good things.
  10. I dont know, but I do know Josh White is a hell of a guard to build a program around. Biggest game against the best team on our sched? I like what I see.
  11. Im not sure I understand why Fran would want/need Dickey. I don't mean this as a jab, but didn't USU have a fairly awful season and offensive this past year?
  12. From the DMN: There's little doubt who the top prospect at Plano Senior is this year -- Rex Burkhead. Problem is he's just a sophomore, so there's no link to him yet on Rivals.com. But trust me, the kid known at Plano as "Rex Chapman" is the real deal -- the 5-8 Burkhead dunked last year as a freshman on the state championship basketball team. "He's the next big phenom anywhere," said Episcopal School of Dallas quarterback Brock Mansion, who transferred to ESD from Plano. Burkhead will play free safety this fall and will be a back-up at quarterback. He played fullback last year on Plano's state quarterfinal team. Mansion predicts Burkhead will be Plano's quarterback before his high school career is said and done. oops, that was from 2006 try this: Yes, we are recruiting him
  13. I like how everyone crucified the guy for proposing an idea. Like he's supposed to have a working knowledge of every single topic that's ever been discussed on gomeangreen.com
  14. nice.
  15. same here. And not to be a sunshiner (as I'm all kinds of disgusted with what I've seen this seaso), but we damn near were right in the middle of that range. I think we should have won the FAU and Ark State games... that puts you at 4-8... and we were really in control of the SMU and Navy games until we fell apart defensively. The FIU game is an embarassment, but the law of averages say at some point they were going to break that streak. What better time for them than the last game in their adopted stadium. It's just unfortunate it was against us. I didn't see the game as I was at the Big 12 game in SA (guess that makes me a candidate for bad fan of the week), but sounds like our guys didn't want to win as much as FIU didn't want to lose.
  16. title 9 has passed it's point of usefulness. We need baseball. I think it would ultimately pay for itself if we hired a good coach, got in some talented players. I'd take soccer too... and lacrosse. Both of these are sports I believe will only continue to gain popularity as time goes by by. I don't think either of those could pay for themselves, but it would help with conference shifts. You'd hope extra revenue generated by a legit football and basketball program would cover it.
  17. Vizza starts at QB, Riley is a back up and a WR. Thats the ideal scenario.
  18. and for Briles, who most certainly would've been at the top of their list to replace Leach.
  19. Same here, they've kinda become my SEC "team". I love the way they play D
  20. props to Baylor. A lot of aggressive moves to be competitive. their students and alumni should be excited
  21. I'll put it this way... if Baylor was in the Sun Belt, WAC, C-USA, or MWC, all other things considered, they would have as good a chance of cracking the top 10 (or top 12 for the BCS) as we would. We play one or two quality BCS opponents a year. They play several. True, anything is "possible", however "probability" is also a term used in the insurance industry. The probability of Baylor winning enough games to claim a Big 12 South title is on par with the odds of me successfully wrangling a 3 way with my girlfriend and a certain Brazilian Victoria's Secret model. Now I'm a pretty charming and persuasive guy, but even for someone as in love with myself as me, I'm willing to admit that might be a bit of a stretch.
  22. Yeah, stayed in it during homecoming. Pretty nice, actually. Got it on priceline for around $50. If you aren't paying attention, you'll miss it. It's tucked back behind the Carinos (Italian for mediocrity).
  23. We get it, you're a huge Baylor fan. Step back a bit and look at it objectively. Baylor is at best the 11th best football program in the Big 12, and easily dead ass last in it's division. It's not to say they cant enjoy a 6-6 or 7-5 season once in a blue moon (though it hasnt happened in the Big 12 yet, and if I recall correctly Guy Morriss was going to be THE GUY to get them there), but to say (or otherwise imply) that Baylor will ever beat the likes of OU, Texas, Ok State, and A&M... ALL IN THE SAME YEAR... is homerism at it's finest.
  24. yeah it really is... it's also full of grammatical errors. And what the hell does this mean? Im almost 100% sure that Nutt did more at Arkansas than Brent Guy has done in his entire career. Ok, Im done with this. sorry, everything about this article annoyed me on many levels.
