  1. yeah cause it looks AWESOME right now...
  2. If it were, however, I would say something about preferring the L72.
  3. so all we have to do is win the Big 10?
  4. Yeah, in Houston you'll find the same thing. There's Rice, there's Houston...but there's actually UT, A&M, and LSU. It's just the way it goes. Instead of worrying about causal DFW fans, we should worry about Denton-area fans, local alumni, and cultivating a pro-UNT athletics atmosphere amongst the current 34K students that sticks with them after they graduate. The latter being the most important, in my opinion. Winning accomplishes a lot of this.
  5. Hi... I was referring to the "Nothing to prepare for it that one" quote, but thank you! The "nothing can prepare us for LSU" mentality, while just as exhausting as the "we have a good chance to pull the upset" comments, seems a bit premature. Especially given the fact LSU often plays to their competition and struggled for a good part of the game against Tulane. That and they lose a ton of players on both sides of the ball. Not saying there isn't talent, but I'm not ready to let Les Miles mount my face... just yet.
  6. Agree and disagree. I think if you do it short-term to build a "winning" program, it's a good way to go. It worked for A&M in basketball, K-State in football. You start winning, it brings a winning attitude. It builds confidence. On the flip, the Sun Belt conference is where people go to schedule their "lay-ups". So we're essentially already in a conference full of cupcakes (at least that is the perception). Same for C-USA, WAC, MAC, etc. I just think it does a lot to the mentality of a team to constantly start the season 0-4 or 1-4. Imagine the momentum rolling into conference play 3-2 or 4-1? I've noticed Troy and a couple other SBC teams scheduling BCS games later in the season. I think this is something that would serve us well. Unfortunately, I think we are more closely aligned with the Big 12 (for obvious geographical reasons), and they seem to play all their OOC games early. Though this doesn't mean we HAVE to keep playing Big 12 $$$ games.
  7. I dont care how good FIU and FAU are or ever will be- they suck as conference mates. Neither school travels well and neither hold any regional appeal to our fan base. This guy with all the inside info on how the Sun Belt will get booted out of the New Orleans Bowl is an asshat. I'm not sure what makes C-USA think they are God's gift to mid major conferences, but they are an average-at-best conference from top to bottom. My interest in being in C-USA stems purely from bowl tie-ins and regional rivalry. Nothing more, nothing less. Additionally, I think it's about time we made our way back to New Orleans- for the next 4 years.
  8. I'll agree. Unfortunately, you can't have 3 schools from the same conference in the BCS- and Kansas/VT provided the best game of the entire bowl series...
  9. at the risk of regretting even asking... what?
  10. On the flip (and without looking at the facts), I think LSU graduates a lot key players in this national championship team. Not that it matters, but LSU was sluggish at times early in the season (see the Tulane game) so if we could start out hot, who knows... ahhh who am I kidding- I'm tired of opening against these teams.
  11. im 100% interested to see how long this thread makes it... and I hope to be thoroughly entertained until it blows it's proverbial load.
  12. this is a great hire for SMU, in my opinion. It's pricey, but they've got the $$. Now we'll be competing for some of the same type of recruits. As someone else stated on this board, with Baylor and SMU making big hires, it isn't getting any easier for lil ole UNT.
  13. well said, completely agree.
  14. I thought the exact same thing. This will be a good hire for SMU.
  15. not when they are offering up the kind of cheddar SMU is willing to pay. I'm not sure Hawaii can match 1.5 per. Not to mention the 2 mil per they are reportedly ready to pay out to assistants. Pony Up indeed?
  16. im not sure we could pay him enough, but it would be a sweet deal.
  17. one of the experts on GMG.com
  18. this is really good to see. way to go TYsports...
  19. At this point, i think you can rule out post-season play without a sun belt tournament win. We just need to hope we are good enough by the end of the season that we can run the table in the tournament.
  20. you're right, my bad. I just remembered there were a handful of Texas QB recruits that have ended up going elsewhere at the last minute. The funny thing is, in the case of the two they did offer (Perriloux and Brantley), neither have found greener grass. Meanwhile the one they didn't go after (or did as an after thought) was in the middle of national title/heisman talk for the better part of this past year. Funny how things work out.
  21. and I'll have another helping...
  22. 1) I didn't realize his given name was Ischase Daniel 2) the avatar is a joke... a joke whose humor lies in it's hideousness. But do not be afraid, for I have a feeling a certain Marissa Miller will be making her way in here sooner than later.
