Bingo... seriously, go by chapter meetings for both the fraternities and sororities as well as IFC/Panhellenic. Like them or not, most greeks (sorry TTG, not talking ethnicity here) share a similar vision for UNT's athletics. Of course, that was my experience. I certainly can't speak on behalf of everyone. But they can mobilize masses if need be (please spare us the athletics attendance jabs, no need to derail a good thread)

I thought we were headed to the Big 12... not sure what all this C-USA talk is about...

Texas State Recieves $1.3 Million Donation....
Eagle1855 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
In my experiences, Texas State students generally have more school spirit than UNT students, so it wouldn't surprise me if this were a student initiative. -
Question I wanted to pose to you all. Is it possible, that given our relatively small endowment (that I believe really is our most pressing need as a University) coupled with our complete ineptitude for the better part of 30 years in all things regarding UNT athletics, we're really kinda doing the best we possibly can at present time? We've built a lot of facilities in the past 5 years, we're working towards a stadium, we're focusing on athletics more than ever before... I know there are a few that believe RV might be a snake oil salesman or whatever else we've heard from various TCU and So Miss alums, but given all these other issues, is it possible to expect a whole lot more right now? I'm not sure I know enough one way or the other answer this question right now, just curious as to your thoughts.

Horrible News
Eagle1855 replied to Quoner's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
completely agree. Hopefully they posted the video BEFORE they realized he would eventually pass. Either way, it's tacky... but far more when they don't make it. prayers for the family -
well I thought she was wearing green at the last OU game, but I really don't take freaking notes on what the woman is wearing. I know I've seen her in green outside of Austin, but I didn't bother to take a picture for documentation. It should be noted I think this is a really stupid discussion. I think this issue is secondary (or tertiary, or what ever fourth-iary is) to the major concerns, which are relations with alumni ergo donors.

yes... money well spent!

Just to be fair, Im not a huge fan, but I have seen her wearing green on game days. Go on with the chlorophyll...

does he have access to the double-secret VIP lounge?

well is this really a bad thing? I mean, it's not like this person was really held in high regards by anyone on this board, myself included. Or are we to read between the lines and assume these people are jumping ship for a reason? OR is there some house-cleaning going on that perhaps should have been done a couple seasons ago? Let the speculation begin. Or continue. or whatever.

ADLER, that was a really good post. And I've felt that way from the first day I set foot on UNT's campus. I really don't get it. It's proven time and time again that visible, legit athletics programs raise the profile of the school across the board. To be fair, they did just finish building a ton of stuff on the Eagle Point campus. This was needed and it was done under RV. I just don't understand the hesitancy to make a FULL commitment. Raise the fee, build the stupid stadium. Tell the world we are going to be first-class in everything we do- even sports. For what it's worth, I think Dr Baitalle embraces this vision. It might just take some time to grease the other rusty wheels.

I think Bleil will prove to be a really good hire for you guys, congrats.

See, that wasn't so hard! ha, thanks for the info. This is actually what I like to hear... REALITY. It isn't what I WANT to hear, of course, but I always prefer the truth. You seem to be as reliable a source as anyone on this board, so I'll take you for your word. This also verifies previous concerns of mine. Lots of lip service, nothing being done. On the flip, as Drex stated, maybe there are a few donors waiting in the wings.. watching, waiting to make their pledges. I don't know. I also don't understand why the student athletic fee can't be raised to increase the Athletics budget. In 2-3 years, Dodge might havea successful program up and running in Denton. If there is still no stadium and no more money coming in to the program, we won't be able to sustain that success- or keep Dodge. We pay peanuts compared to most other successful mid major programs and much less than most BCS programs. In other words, I don't think anything can be done to raise the profile of UNT athletics (and therefore UNT) without $$$. Hopefully RV is just playing his hand close to his chest. And hopefully it's more than a pair of 2's...

thanks for the info

Almost nothing on a chat board more irritating than an "I know something, but do you..." thread... PLEASE SHARE!

thanks, I was merely expounding upon what you said

maybe, maybe not. depends on the tear. I had a ligament tear in my shoulder that would never have healed without surgery, even though it was very minor. Some ligaments will calcify and not require surgery, but you're talking about a pretty long process. He would be better off just having the surgery which will provide a 100% fix. Also, according to my doctor, you can't always be certain there is a ligament tear present with an MRI. I'm not sure why they wouldn't do an MRI right off the bat. Perhaps it was a financial issue. No idea. Additionally, this had turned into a really stupid argument. Nautique got it right. Whether or not you like the way in which he broke the "news" doesn't affect the outcome... he was right.

something big would be nice. I think that would go a long way towards maybe being able to work out more games like this with Rice in the future, and perhaps UH. Show that our fans can travel... on occasion. Show Houston kids there actually is a pretty good-sized school just north of Dallas. As the time nears, I'll be happy to help out however needed.

Im actually not opposed to TxState being Div 1A, I just don't think they have the money. We've played them more than any other team, however, so they'd be a natural fit in the Sun Belt. I'd much prefer them over South Alabama. Of course, this assumes that is even an option.
-
Yeah, I didn't forget them, I just havent heard them referred to as "TSU" as often as Texas Southern. Then again, that might just be due to the fact that I grew up in Houston. Ha
-
Actually, they are TSU-SM TSU is Texas Southern, and has been for a pretty long time.

I don't really care what Texas State does.
