  1. Yeah we got it, you've made your point. Nobody is reading this thread questioning where you stand on the subject, however irrational or illogical that position may seem. Posting the same thing over and over instead of addressing people's objections (some of which are valid) to your "call to kill all pit bulls" (which some might say is a slippery slope) is exhausting. Just so we're clear, I in no way insinuated these kids provoked these dogs. Reading comprehension would show that I believe that by holding the people that own and breed these dogs accountable for ANYTHING their dog does might cause them to think twice about owning them or how they treat them. What has happened to these people and kids is awful (thanks for continually posting pictures, I'll see if I can't find some shark and bear attacks before lunch and we can all puke together), but the problem is greater than the dogs. Enjoy the myopia!
  2. Agreed. And "troll" most certainly has to be included in "name calling", right?
  3. Anyone have any updates on what Oregon State is doing? Hofstra? Eastern Michigan? Thanks in advance.
  4. Great post. Not just because I happen to completely agree with it but also because it is rational and logical...and it requires people to take responsibility for their own actions. What a concept!
  5. I have no idea why I laughed out loud when I read this. Maybe because I had like 4 hours of sleep last night after a typical Thursday night bender. Or because I have the maturity of a 12 year old. Either way...
  6. I've actually heard a little bit more about that lately. I don't really know a lot on the science of the earth's mantle, etc... but you surely aren't completely off your rocker. Now whether or not it replenishes at a rate greater than we extract it is another subject entirely. Though that subject might prove to be superior to "woe is UNT" talk...
  7. wow, we now have like 4 threads covering the same topics. This one only took 2 posts, nice work!
  8. On the flip side, our branding campaign was GREAT SUCCESS! Although it would have been nice to see an interlocking "NT"... There we go, steer this bitch over the cliff!
  9. Hiring a coach straight out of junior college is so BUSH! errr, I mean...
  10. ARRRRREEEEE YOOOOOUUUUUU REEEEADDDDYYYYY TO RUUUUUUUUUUMMMBBBBLLLLEEEEE?????
  11. Anyone heard anything about a new stadium project over on the Eagle Point campus?
  12. losing keeps people away.
  13. 1) How would it hurt us to be a part of the UT System? There is no reason why we'd have to change our name. Seems like the support, etc could be a good thing. 2a) Is this UNT-system an exercise in futility? Like, are we really going to be able to be one of the few systems in the state getting started this late in the game? 2b) Is it our advantage to go it alone?
  14. Rick, nothing I said was meant to detract from you or Emmitt's experiences. I appreciate the work that you guys do more than a stupid comment on a thread could ever express. I never accused you over overreacting. I said your emotions were understandable (and I'd feel the same way). You can dismiss my opinion all you want. I will never advocate the elimination of an animal. The problem for me starts with the pieces of garbage that train these animals to be aggressive. If you kill these dogs, these losers will just find some other breed. You can keep patching a hole in a tire all you want, but at some point you're going to have to address the problem- the tire itself. I won't bother sharing any more of my opinions on the subject as I clearly do not have the vocational experience to do so with merit.
  15. stop punching holes in my argument! ha Either way, it took both programs a little while to establish both sides of the ball. Many more spread programs have yet to do so.
  16. I never questioned whether or not the Big 12 would be good for UNT- there is not denying that fact. What I question is what VALUE we bring to the Big 12. We aren't a prestigious academic institution (even compared to SMU, TCU and UH) and we have very little national appeal (much like UH, TCU, SMU, and UH). And I'd love to see where this alleged large group of UNT alumns is in Houston. I've been here almost 4 years and I've never seen more than couple dozen congregating for an occasional televised game. The fact that an area the size of Houston has an exes chapter that supposedly encompasses the entire Gulf Coast region (which is a massive area) is only further evidence of how sparsely populated UNT alums are down here. I'm sure the same can be said about UH alums in the DFW area. Which means, very little appeal outside of our respective markets.
  17. thank you for posting this. Keep an open mind, peoples! Our University is not beyond criticism, nor should it be. Why take personal shots at a person that has CLEARLY spent more time researching it than any of the people calling him/her names?
  18. You're right, we would be perceived as better. But why would the Big 12 want UNT? I think even if we had several top-25 athletic programs, schools like Texas wouldn't want us in there because of our perceived academic shortcomings (ie: tier 4 ranking).
  19. Well I think there might actually be a correlation between defense and the type of offense you run. Like I think our defense was so good in the early 2000s because we ran the ball ad nauseam. Killed the clock. Look at Tech, WV and others. Never known for having great defenses. I personally don't care about the spread. I'd rather run a balanced traditional offense, but I'm not sure we'll ever get the caliber athletes in here you need to effectively run something like that. So for that reason, Viva El Dodge.
  20. thanks for posting this, great article. And that is why we'll never see UH, UNT, TCU, or SMU in the Big 12. Never. gonna. happen. Those schools offer absolutely nothing to the league they don't already have.
  21. good informative posts, CheckFacts. Honestly, I'd rather be a tier 2 university than have a great football team, though I'm not sure the two are mutually exclusive. I also think the UNT-Dallas campus is a HUGE waste of time and resources, and I believe that ANY law school needs to be attached to the UNT-Denton campus. Let me pose this question (since I really don't know the answer): What would be the problem with becoming part of the UT-system? I don't think we'd have to change our name (SHSU is part of the Texas State system), seems like it might benefit us in the long run since they seem to carry the most weight with the state.
  22. Are Ohio State, Michigan, Purdue and Iowa much different than OU, Mizzou, Texas Tech and Texas A&M on any given year? Nevermind maybe-one-day Nebraska. I can't see Texas going anywhere without A&M. Fans wouldnt want to see UT in the Big 10. Pretty much eliminates traveling to see them play. Actually the more I think about it, the dumber this discussion really is. And as for Texas flirting with the Pac-10, that was during the SWC breakup.
  23. As crazy as it sounds... Im with ya. Im not ready to say the sky is falling- yet- but I do have thoughts, concerns, and opinions about what our situation looks like in the future. This several year "silent" phase isn't helping...
  24. That thread ought to show you how far down the ladder of respectability we've slipped. Wanting an upstart program with ZERO pride over UNT? Give me a break. UTSA is a fine institution if you want a community college experience, but it's no Texas State... or even UNT.
