  1. that's true. In college football there are many great rivalries. You've got your Ohio State-Michigan, your USC-UCLA, your UT-A&M, and then you've got La Tech-ULM. Tragedy has befallen the state of Louisiana. Again.
  2. that's what Im saying... these kinds of games are the ones Tech loves to lose. Yeah they'll beat someone they shouldnt (Texas), and they'll play hard against someone they could've (OU) but I'm not jumping on this "Tech to the national title" nonsense. Mostly because I don't think they can beat Mizzou in a Big 12 Title game. At the very least it will be an interesting new story line, which I welcome. Im kinda worn out on UT and OU dominating the Big 12. Regarding THE Ohio State University, yes, that IS why I think they are overrated and I'd argue that is a perfectly valid reason. I think the Big 10 has been overrated and it has shown in their out of conference matchups.
  3. ahh yes, the lone highlight of this game. I didn't even know what to do when it happened so I just cheered like we had won the national championship. Small victories, that's the name of the game at North Texas. Great catch and run, ill-advised throw.
  4. Remember when we were going to get a baseball team this year?
  5. is this a weird thing to post in his blog? or is it just me.
  6. Ohio State? HAHAHA. Please. Georgia HAS to be the front runner for the national championship. Tech ALWAYS loses at least 2 games they were supposed to win. It will happen again this year.
  7. George, I'll be there. Would love to get involved. Thanks for posting the info. -Brant
  8. I dont know, I kind of think Shaq's a moron. But that's just me. Now he's a moron without a deputy badge.
  9. Is there a comprehensive list of UNT grads living in the Houston area somewhere? I'd be happy to sit down and call through it one evening or assist whomever is in charge of doing so. Why not use this game to make a statement? You can bet Dodge will have a lot of Houston-area recruits out for this game.
  10. The initial intent of my post was not meant to bag on the Exes... it's just that it seems like those types of organizations are the ones that "mobilize" troops for games in their area. I'd be happy to help with a grassroots campaign to get Exes (or others) out to the game. I've got several contacts for local mags and the sports radio station to get press out there for an event (if one was planned).
  11. Oh yes, Kevin James. Forgot about him. His stand-up DVD is hilarious. If you can find it, I definitely recommend it. The bit about the elevators is pure gold.
  12. call me crazy but I don't think attendance will be related to the record at all. I'd guess most people that will be traveling to Houston will be doing so to see UNT play and to visit friends and family who already reside there. And quite honestly, I fully anticipate being 0-3 when we travel down to play Rice and 1-3 when we head on to our next game.
  13. Well, Kathy Griffin of course. chirp chirp... Though Im having an increasingly difficult time distinguishing between she and Carrot Top. Anywho, Hedberg was brilliant. I'll echo Hicks as well.
  14. well from my understanding its the "Gulf Coast" chapter... which seems pretty non-specific (covering an awful lot of ground) in a city as large as Houston. Hard to coordinate events between people living as far North as the Woodlands and as far south as La Marque. There should really be a specific chapter for people that live in or around the 610 loop (ie: Houston proper). I think that would do a better job of bringing in younger alums who are going to be the people with less obligations that can more-easily attend events. I've lived here for 4 years, couldn't tell ya what happens with the Exes chapter. In fact, I know more about the Texas exes chapter because they are constantly holding events like monthly happy hours that encourage young people to get involved. I mean, maybe it's my fault for not making an effort to "seek out", though Im not sure how well any organization does that doesn't actively recruit new members or make effort to retain old ones.
  15. why don't yall just organize one yourselves? Gomeangreen.com prob has enough of a following... hell you could probably fill TWO buses.
  16. Its Rice's family day, so that may have something to do with it. Not wanting to keep kids up late, etc. I'm probably bringing a crew of about 10 to the game. Hope we have a good turnout. This would be a good series to get going.
  17. according to Rice's athletic site, 4pm. Also, it shouldn't take you more than 5 hours coming from that zip code. I think you might have been thinking Manhattan, KS?
  18. One and the same, no?
  19. In what world outside of Northern Lousy-ana is La Tech relevant?
  20. further proof of the SBC's superiority!
  21. you mean in median income?
  22. cuz they look differnt and talk differnt, duh. I think it is safe to say that if they WERE illegals, they would already know how to safely cross a river. Anyways, back to Oklahoma... home of NOODLING!
  23. I guess that's the fundamental breakdown in this discussion- not everyone agrees it is the right thing to do. Personally, I'd like to either see them get rid of it altogether OR go back to the days when as soon as you found someone guilty you dragged them out into the street and shot them. ALL OR NOTHING BABY! NO MORE LUKE-WARM AMERICA!
  24. I don't really feel bad missing out on a recruit to a school like Rice. Can't fault the kid at all.
  25. We should outlaw rivers. They are clearly a threat to our way of life. Any word as to whether the man provoked the river or if the river was otherwise trained to take the lives of humans?
