I'm surpirsed I've not read any posts concerning the impact the new hire will have on the future Mean Green uniforms, as its common for uniforms & helmets to change when a new HC is hired. My prediction includes a move toward the new school colors for the uniforms. Any thoughts?

Congrats guys on stomping all over SMU
mdmeangreen replied to Spaceraider's topic in Mean Green Football
SpaceRaider, I was at the Maryland game and thought MTSU did awesome! The MTSU WRs- Henry; Williams- looked very good and so did Marks. I was very impressed wity the way they played and I'm looking forward to the UNT-MTSU game- it should be a very good game. I think overall the Sunbelt has made us all proud this weekend! -
Will the UT vs UNT game be televised?
mdmeangreen replied to Microxot's topic in Mean Green Football
I get the game here in Maryland on my local sports channel! I'm watching the game and then going to see the Terps destroy William & Mary- man I'm excited!!!!! -
The article does appear as printed in the Tulsa World but, still, 85 Lbs does seema bit too much to lose in such a short time.
-
I've lived most of my life in Maryland so I follow the Terps as well as the Georgia Bulldogs- Go Dawgs!!!
-
Though not completely necessary, these are in large part good rules, especially the shields. How many touchbacks were there in the college game to justify the 1 inch tee anyway?
-
Phil Steele- though cocky- is usually right on these types of things. Of course, it's not hard to figure out why the Mean Green weren't so mean last year. Good news though- it isn't hard to figure out why they'll have a huge turn around this year either! Better QB play; healthy JaMo; more experienced lines (at least oLine); better defensive scheme to take advantage of our strengths; I believe the coaching shake up has resulted in better focus (getting Bleil back as DC is huge!); etc.
-
I live on the East Coast so I'll probably go to the Akron game. I'm still hurting from flying in for the Tulsa game last year- man, that sucked!!
-
I'll be there! Of course, easy for me to say since I'm on the East Coast!!

What was the first UNT game that you attended?
mdmeangreen replied to calvin's topic in Mean Green Football
I was there for that game as well, and I agree...GREAT first half, depth just killed us at half-time. My first game was the first game of the '93 season. Not sure who we played...think it was ACU, though... -
As several posters have noted there were numeroud reasons why the Mean Green 2005 campaign was rocky- terrible QB play; porous lines; hobbled RBs; aspects of coaching issues; etc.- this was the bad news. The good news is these issues seem to be addressed- improved QB play; solidifed lines with depth; fresh faces in the coaching ranks; etc.- all very good news. We all love our Mean Green and would love for them to win the SB each year- ain't gonna hap'n capt'n! But, UNT is still the best team, overall in the SB and we'll prove it next year- mark my words!!! Any thoughts!

UNC-W is currently ranked #4 RPI and have already won a tourney, the BCA. The only team they've lost to, in a close one, is Colorado, who is currently #1 RPI! Anyone else concerned about our chances?

I flew in from Maryland yesterday and stopped by Fouts for a looksy- the field is awesome! I walked on the field and I love the feel of the "grass". I also meet Gabe Fitzpatrick, the UNT Ticket office Manager, who seems like a pretty cool guy. Everyone in the office was very enthused about the game and I get the impression the game's attendance should be pretty decent. Well, I'm off for some Stuffed Pizza @ The Tomato (Flying Tomato for us older alums!)- my second reason for my visit!

Who Will Be The Impact Players On Saturday
mdmeangreen replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree Meager needs to have a big game since Tulsa will stack the box, forcing us to air the bair more. Meager proved he can throw the ball and we've multiple talented WR threats- no excuse to not have a big day passing the pigskin! On defense, Weathers is the key player since we'll need to shut down Mills. The DE need to come up bigger than they did in the MTSU game though- I'm sure adjustments will be made to accomodate the Tulsa schemes. -
A quote from Richard Cirminiello @ CFN: "One day in the not too distant future, a program other than North Texas will win the Sun Belt, and that team will play its home games in the Sunshine State. No offense to the folks of Denton, Tex., but it has to be infinitely easier to recruit kids to Miami and Boca Raton, respective homes of Sun Belt first-timers, Florida International and Florida Atlantic." Folks, I can understand his position but is he forgetting Denton happens to be located in Texas? We're North Texas NOT North Dakota!
-
OUCH!!!!
-
We're not the only school spelling out the name of our college on the helmet- Illinois; Southern Miss; Ohio; Toledo; Boise State; Tulsa; and with some variation we've UNLV; Ole Miss; UCLA, etc... Our helmet isn't the worst- has anyone seen Buffalo's helmet- what the hell is on the helmet anyway????

I'll be flying in from Maryland- I'm doing my part!!!

WE ARE THE MEAN GREEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF
mdmeangreen replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm doing my part- I'm flying in from Maryland fore the Tulsa game! Now, what is most Dentonites excuse??? Still, I hope we do a much better job filling the stands than MTSU did- how pathetic was the attendance tonight??? -
Only 2 current starters from last year on D?
mdmeangreen replied to mdmeangreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Monroe will be back soon!! -
According to an article on the Mean Green official athletic board the defense is currenlt down to 2 starters from last year. I think it's time we tally up who the starters will be and who's currently injured- any takers???

Newcomers highlight first scrimmage
mdmeangreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
DeepGreen, I think you're on to something regarding the helmet you've posted- This could just be the exact helmet UNT uses this season!!! -
Interesting...
-
You go boy!! I totally agree, poor decision not to effectively address this known concern. We might just pay the price come this season...

Good point Big Dawg.
