Coach McCasland is the best thing to ever happen to to NT sports. (I say the same thing about Coach Bennett at Virginia - my 'second college' - and he got us a national championship.) What he and his teams are doing is absolutely amazing and I am very proud of wins like this one in old El Paso.

It won't happen without determined leadership commitment to promote it, with experienced staffing, resources and accountability. Fundamentally, the message needs to change from 'Oh and we have sports.' to a clear and persistent 'This is what we do here.' If that turns some potential enrollees away, I'm pretty sure there are plenty others to take their place.

A great game and a great win by a great team, against the only team in conference to have beaten Atlantic. This one makes me wish I lived in Texas again.

I've said before, we should never play smu again. Nor should anyone else. Sad that you smuers have to pick yourselves up by comparing to a state school that is downtrodden by lobbying and interests of two most gargantuan state schools and 3 deranged private schools. Maybe it will sink in when you're regularly losing to Liberty. Vito was wrong, smu presence was never a benefit of AAC. Good riddance.

With an interim coach, nearly beat a 9 win team that is an established successful program. Hopefully Coach M can get a structure in place to get our players over the top in these situations. New coach is not taking over a disaster this time.

For those in the ‘Why would we trade SL for this guy?’ camp, yes it’s a gamble, but that’s the only way you have a chance for upside. I expect a much higher positive energy level from the HC than we have had, and that’s really important. So is the successful college HC experience.

It's good to have a coach who's not afraid to let it all hang out. Sends a clear message to the competition.

I like the hire. Connection with Mahomes is compelling; that dude makes some plays I've never seen anyone else make.

That is a great shot of VT stadium. I've been in it, back when they weren't very good. They have incredible fan support, but there's not much else going on in way southwest Virginia.

The guy's time has passed and we can do better than this regardless. There is no assurance about what he would be able to do. Let it go.

Cobbs is solid gold. That's why i wish they'd let him be coach for the bowl. But we need someone with successful D1 HC experience and preferably current. I hope Cobbs gets a HC job. Maybe his time for us is down the road.

I don't much like what Carthel has done at UT Nacogdoches. I do think we should get a very successful current HC from FCS, Sun Belt or MAC. Like Grant hire. Just follow the lead. I dont know if any of the guys on this list fit that; will look. I also still think they need permanent AD in place first. Like Auburn did.

I'd have let PB go immediately too and let Cobbs have the experience of HCing a live D1 game where we have nothing to lose. Maybe he'd generate some energy like Cadillac did at Auburn this year.

This AD hire is critical and everything else will come from that. Immediate transfer issues and impact on next season are not nearly as important as having a solid AD and coach relationship in place.

I know he is tempting on paper but the way he conducted things at AU was self-defeating. For partly different reasons, would not work here either.

I have hope again! Suggest PC for interim.

If we have impact players who are distracted from their mission by this, that indicates major changes were needed anyway.
