Coach O is Keeping Receipts...
Aquila_Viridis replied to NorthTexasWeLove's topic in Mean Green Football
I kept my receipts too, for parking and ticket. Feel like I should get a refund. In all seriousness on that front, I get that their mentality is 'results will only come from investment'. Problem is, I invested alot more before, and there weren't results. Sometimes I think they should just figure out where they can win with what they have, consistently win for a good while there, and then maybe they can get investment to consistently win somewhere else. I don't take the basketball success in recent years for granted, but I'd much much rather have that success in football. Is their message, 'see we did it in basketball, so with more $ we can do it in football too'? If so, I'm not really hearing that message or an explanation of why that would actually be the case. How did TX State get TJ Finley?? Sure he failed expectations in the SEC, but you could tell he could succeed at other levels. -
Our AD made a MASSIVE mistake with this HC hire
Aquila_Viridis replied to Travis's topic in Mean Green Football
This thread title is ridiculous at this point but one thing that was really wrong Saturday is our HC did not have much of a presence. I could find him down there occasionally but he did not seem very directly engaged. It was also a problem with his predecessor early. If you don’t drive the bus, it WILL quickly go off the cliff. -
Don’t Blame it All on the 3-3-5 Defense

Well i hope it wasn’t counting on the heat because ironically it was our team that withered. -

****OFFICIAL CAL va. UNT IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
Aquila_Viridis replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
The score speaks for itself but that was atrocious. I couldn’t stay to watch all of it. I was on board with this hire, but he didn’t have a handle on this game, and the team was not prepared. I expected there would need to be improvement but there is no reason we should be starting this far back. -
AAC not interested in Oregon State or Washington State.

This conference should shed members, not add them. -
With SMU leaving I am concerned
Aquila_Viridis replied to cousin oliver's topic in Conference ReAlignment
The fact that stupid conference is still called the Atlantic Coast indicates how stupid they are and all this is. More stupidness will come from it. I am not concerned at all about avoiding stupidness. Any prior involvement with smu was stupid and we should learn from prior stupid mistakes. Sadly their stupid people will come on here to proclaim their superiority. Just block or otherwise avoid their stupidness. -
SMU's Hail Mary to play big-time football again
Aquila_Viridis replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Conference ReAlignment
The difference with a Hail Mary is you don’t have anything to lose. I hope this windmill chase costs them so much they can’t come back for any more games, except maybe in Division III. -
Looks like ACC about to add SMUt Cal and Stanford
Aquila_Viridis replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Conference ReAlignment
‘College’ football doesn’t even live up to its name anymore. I will be happy when we are finally free of trying to keep up with these maniacs. If smu thinks they are getting into the P5 side of a P5-G5 split they are sure going to be sad when they find the Big Leagues have slimmed down to 32 teams. What a waste of money. The ACC is full of teams that can’t stay on the field with the real powers. Eventually those will actually never be on the same field. See ya later. -
Looks like ACC about to add SMUt Cal and Stanford
Aquila_Viridis replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Conference ReAlignment
If true that ACC members are considering this, then it shows how sad a situation the ACC is in. And this plan will not even come close to solving the source of their woes. As a fan also of an ACC school, which has particularly put itself in a dire situation over many years, it is absolutely sickening. Their leadership has been no better than ours, and I feel like if we had their clowns under the circumstances, NT wouldn’t even have a program anymore. That conference should just jettison clemson, fsu, vt and miami and go more toward the Ivy league mentality. -
Report: CUSA Schools Sign Grant of Rights
Aquila_Viridis replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
They granted themselves the right to be in a crappy conference. -
"I want Cal and Stanford to die on the vine"

"Kill the competition!" I like this guy's attitude. -
I would take those as regular opponents, especially for home games, over the east set.

Things are moving fast! ACC already backed off once they realized the new 'Dallas University of Methodic Southerners' was really just SMU again.

How important is winning to attendance. Some data
Aquila_Viridis replied to outoftown's topic in Mean Green Football
It really has more to do with whether your tickets are available at Costco. -
Not sure AAC schools are excited about us joining
Aquila_Viridis replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Football
The fact it took them this long to realize it does not speak well for them. -

UNA is in Florence. Huntsville has Alabama-Huntsville which has a hockey team. Huntsville has a decent little downtown area. With the little mountain nearby, it's an alright destination. Chattanooga's better.

It’s astonishing. The last quarter of that game is one of the greatest moments ever in NT sports.- 13 replies

Not a damn point!

That sucked.

Coach McCasland is the best thing to ever happen to to NT sports. (I say the same thing about Coach Bennett at Virginia - my 'second college' - and he got us a national championship.) What he and his teams are doing is absolutely amazing and I am very proud of wins like this one in old El Paso.

Attendance Sucks. What to do about it!!
Aquila_Viridis replied to KeithLee's topic in Mean Green Football
It won't happen without determined leadership commitment to promote it, with experienced staffing, resources and accountability. Fundamentally, the message needs to change from 'Oh and we have sports.' to a clear and persistent 'This is what we do here.' If that turns some potential enrollees away, I'm pretty sure there are plenty others to take their place.
