There’s plenty of shame in this season. But we got an exceptionally bad hand in the conference schedule, not sure who to blame for that. There was going to be a dropoff due to changeover and adjustment, but that was needed in order to have a chance to really progress in the future. And I wouldn't want to trade places with ECU for example. So despite a strong dose of shame, on balance at this point I’m not wearing a bag and I think they will do considerably better next year.

The finish Saturday made a big difference. Had that been a loss, it would have been a C-. Instead overall I will give them a B-. Had they won 2 more games and had one less blowout I'd have given them an A. Expectation for next year should be no less than that type result, but that will not earn an A next year.

James Madison Athletics - what can we learn from them?
Aquila_Viridis replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
It's a volatile combination. Once ignited, it will burn intensely until doused with turkey piss by vt supporters in the state legislature. (The Virginia supporters will be unaware until MadDog gets ranked in fencing or badminton.) -
James Madison Athletics - what can we learn from them?
Aquila_Viridis replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
We can learn to move to Harrisonburg with MadDog, where there is nothing happening for many miles except college sports, strange religion and bad whiskey. -
Yes I made it. Thanks for your concern.

What do you expect? He’s a San Antonio homer now. Big wow for roadburds. I say they suck, right here where billions of people can see it. I bet they’re feeling that down in SA right now just like I’m feeling the not yet dead Don Harris journalist kick himself in the nuts.

Grading First Year Head Coaches (with two games to go)
Aquila_Viridis replied to keith's topic in Mean Green Football
I would feel ALOT better about 3 conference wins than 1. It is too soon to grade. -
This business with the SL longing is literally SO last year. He had to go cause of too many blowout losses. If we get many more of those, I’ll be on the Fire Morris bandwagon. I knew it would likely be something of a step back at first, but I also figure the end results in all these losses this season other than FIU under SL would have been blowout numbers, so in some way it was probably an improvement. The defense against run has to change in a major way immediately, however that needs to occur, but you know how it will NOT occur? Bringing back SL, so move on.

$mu is not actually in Dallas TX. I guess they can be the Dallas COUNTY University of Methodic Southerners.

ESPN gives us a 4.4% chance. Move along.

I too was taken aback at first by the comment on the hike to the stadium. However, it does point out the stark contrast with places like Auburn and Tennessee where the stadium IS the center of campus. Despite their frequent disappointments, those places have some rabid fans.

We ought to be able to get people from bigger $ programs who are not getting playing time or focus but who could excel against the teams we typically play. I saw Toledo beating the devil out of Buffalo tonight with a big running back they got from Maryland.

For all the doubt about Morris….
Aquila_Viridis replied to MGNation92's topic in Mean Green Football
There is alot to be said for being competitive overall in that Tulane game. This is a brutal stretch we're in now. At this point in time, I'd feel very good just about being competitive in all the remaining games this season, regardless of the outcomes. Hopefully we can win a few of them. There is still all the upside compared to SL we hope for from coach in the long term; if you didn't think there would be a time of adjustment, that's just delusional. -
Wasn’t this what we were hoping for?
Aquila_Viridis replied to 3_n_out's topic in Mean Green Football
Your timing is terrible. We just beat the devil out of Temple, not Monroe. Don’t worry; if TX State ever flies too close to the sun, they will promptly be brought back down to earth. -
Not sure we can compete anymore
Aquila_Viridis replied to southsideguy's topic in Mean Green Football
Those trucks are paltry compared to what supporters of major Big 10 and SEC schools are paying players. We’re never going to have lots of people with Big Money going crazy for NT. We just need to be in a situation where we are NEVER playing games against the ones that do. All I care about is consistently winning more games than we lose. I don’t care at all who those games are against. -
What I'm Looking For in the Navy Game

Perfect. Right in line with my expectation that NT wins 50-25. 😁 -
****OFFICIAL ACU vs UNT In-Game Thread***
Aquila_Viridis replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Though there was purple involved, please note that was ABILENE Christian, not Texas Christian. Commitment to 3 man front is reminiscent of late years HC Dickey's obsession with executing the 'perfect run-blocking scheme'. All that did was completely derail an otherwise promising head coaching career, in case anyone cares about that. -
I'm not saying anything negative about a win on the road against a program that has typically been better than ours over the years. At least they got up enough that the other team didn't win.
-
Right; at this point a full on blitz every down would be better. It would give a tiny chance to win, versus assured loss by 5, or 40, yard carries every time.

Our AD made a MASSIVE mistake with this HC hire
Aquila_Viridis replied to Travis's topic in Mean Green Football
That's why I said 'at this point'. But yeh, performance like that WILL get us beat by ACU. So hopefully by that point things are better. Otherwise, yikes...
