You're right. It will be OK. Just wait til the next home game and the Wildly Inconsistent Green will win big!

31-0 at the half. Let the excuses begin!
-
Impatient????? Man we have been waiting for YEARS for NT to get this right. It is fair to expect dramatic results when you dramatically increase pay. Stop the excuse train. That train ran very long with Dodge. I don't want to be years down the road again when excuse makers finally see the light.

First Year Head Coach Wins Again At Ark St

I agree with pretty much everything that Rick says, so I don't want to be counted as a detractor, but that was a good one. -
Big East Expanding to 12: SMU and Houston in play
Aquila_Viridis replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is not quite as straightforward as the MWC invite, but if a CUSA (less SMU and Houston) invite comes, we still take it UNLESS there is also a MWC invite on the table. There are enough more recognized programs still in there, it is a NO BRAINER over Sun Belt. -
I have a guaranteed plan to get the stands full regardless of any other factors: (1) give away the tickets, (2) free beer, and (3) topless dancers. This is what they are doing at UTSA.

Houston is the ONLY rivalry we should or really can pursue. I think the people posting on here about Southwest or UTurdSA are likely just posers who are really supporters of those schools. Please stop. We will only make fun of your school when you do this. If you want to see mean things posted here about your school, I don't need much of a reason.

Certainly not happy that attendance was low, but I could see on the radar that front coming and as we approached from Frisco the sky was not promising. Given the weather, last week's blowout, the previous blowouts this season and how far down in the hole the program is from the last several years, I did not expect to see many people. I decided to take a chance with the weather and brought 5 other people out there (one FAU alum included), and fortunately it worked out. But it is enough a haul up or over to Denton for a lot of people that with all these other factors/possible factors (Okies going back north on 35?), that nobody should have had any great expectations about attendance. Of course, it WAS worth the trip after all (I came from Austin by the way) just to see those back-to-back pick 6s and anyone who didn't come out should be kicking themselves!

That dude is no gem or improvement over DT.

I went to several UT home games last year; it was uncanny how their home schedule did not conflict with NT's. Gilbert was very similar to the poor quarterback play we have seen over the last several years. He was just too slow to decide and act and he wasn't accurate under pressure. Sound familiar? It also showed that no matter who else you have, if you don't have a good QB, winning won't happen much and blowouts do.
-
Actually he did that a few games into last season.

Things sure get ugly when people fall off their high horse. How unfortunate we have Baylor, SMU and TCU all so nearby. They should get with Rice, Tulane and Tulsa and make a Poison Ivy League.
-
Good Lord don't bash the band. They fill up a whole section every time and if they don't play we don't have dancers. Plus they might come out in black uniforms or something - oh wait .... Seriously though, I think they're doing great work.

I can't believe that I am going to say this...

We get a big win over a Big 10 program and you are talking about UTSA?????? Whose side are you on? -
We have faced three really excellent teams. The team we are about to face is not excellent. The Mean Green will win!

OK so Mountain West AD's Meet in Dallas Next Week
Aquila_Viridis replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
For any whose vision may not be clear on this: if MWC offers, take it. -
Northern South Tennessee State just applied.
-
The University of Western South Carolina also applied.

I don't know about that but the list is assuming major defections from Big XII leave KS and IS in a bind, but looks like maybe that is getting deferred again. The privates should have their own league, except I let Tulsa because they represent a place. Also, LOVE the Sun Beast!!!!!

West Virginia receives "no thanks" from SEC, ACC
Aquila_Viridis replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Problem with SMU and also TCU is they do not represent a region, plus being small schools = the possible fanbase is very limited. On the other had, it is easy to see that if NT gets in a big conference, that by itself will have a dramatic transformative effect. -
I'm excited to know how you think the situation will develop for those teams in a more positive way for them.
-
Here is an 11-team conference that would make sense. 10 conference games and no conference championship game because really that wouldn't add much: North Texas Houston Memphis Cincinnati Louisville Tulsa Kansas State Iowa State Arkansas State Southern Miss Louisiana Tech

I'm predicting that in an effort to build an in-state rival, Houston will throw the game. Next they will play an unscheduled game against both UTSA and Texas State in New Braunfels on Wednesday night that they will also throw.

Our Football Program and the Negativity it Breeds: A Challenge
Aquila_Viridis replied to JRock's topic in Mean Green Football
I'll tell you why I've been particularly "negative" about last week's first quarter. I listened for years to people saying that Dodge just needs time, yet I thought he was probably a stinker (for D1 college) before his first game. Then it quickly became apparent that he clearly was a stinker but hardly anyone would call it out, because they...just......wanted.........to............keep...............things....................positive! That approach didn't work out very well. As a fan (meaning in most important part, I want the team to win), 'torture' is the best word for how it worked out. I guess there's something laudible about enduring torture with a positive attitude. However, it is much more laudible to try to do something to stop the torture. And now, that clearly stunk last week almost as bad as it possibly could. My hope is that it improves a lot immediately. If it does not then I think we have seen this movie before and maybe this time some people will remember how it goes (on and on) and ends, and call for change promptly IF it is needed. You should be able to tell pretty soon if it is there. Please don't fall into that 'it takes time' garbage. I found last week to be alarming and I did NOT expect that opening quarter. If the ensuing weeks are alarming then yes this place is one of the ways to sound the alarm. I don't want to see any more money wasted for one thing. Return on investment in that stadium largely depends on outstanding coaching, not on our collective happy vibe. If you want to call that negative then really you just have different priorities. -
I enjoyed the pics and y'all are awesome for going out there with those signs!
