  1. On the other hand it kind of shows you where Marshall U stands in the mind of the common man. As someone who attended 2 years of Jr. High in Marshall TX, I can only hope that the Marshall U's approach to education is diffurnt. (OK OK it wasn't really so bad and there are truly some super nice people over there.)
  2. I prefer Louisiana Tech over UTEP. And y'all carrying on about UTSA and TS: there is not enough talent to support that many D1 schools in this one area of the country. Those two need to die off. We should do everything possible to make it happen, because NT is the one that will get hurt the worst by the competition in recruiting. Stop mentioning them. And if you are their supporter pretending on here, you can go to Conference*HELL. Those are crappy schools by comparison and we should not be associated with them. Sure Rice can say the same about us, and they probably do so.
  3. I will only support being in anything with Middle if our name is unfortunately changed to Upper Texas.
  4. WOW this is an impressive accomplishment! What a vote of confidence for North Texas. Go to some womens BB games next season and show support.
  5. You can quote this source as saying that TS and SA are uselessly siphoning valuable state resources and along with TT should be rolled into the UNT System and athletics discontinued at those subsidiary campuses.
  6. Still happening but they changed it to a Coaches Carousel.
  7. Oh and let me add stAte to that list too.
  8. I'd rather see LT in CUSA with NT, more than some of the existing CUSA members.
  9. Lack of vision and commitment.
  10. Hockey, no. But those other teams, Virginia for example has. We don't want to be like them? One of the highest ranked public universities. What is your vision for North Texas?
  11. UT hasn't finished their inside job on us. They won't rest until we're lining up against Abilene Christian. They may not even rest then! And here's something you can actually control instead of speculating. Get more alumni to donate money to UNT. We have an abysmal percentage of people giving and it differentiates us from better schools. Plus more money means more horsepower. We need a baseball team, a lacrosse team and a mens soccer team.
  12. In other news, the Podunk Gazette is reporting that Podunk State is possibly a leading contender to join a possible conference sometime between now and 2020.
  13. Just love the sick feeling of another North Texas conference final effort. And some conference it is. Let me know when we have a coach who knows how to have the team pass the ball in a purposeful manner, get it inside and not take bad shots.
  14. There it is, people. Summed up right there.
  15. I bet she had to put out. What does that mean for us? Also, can you provide some before and after pictures?
  16. So was the officer actually employed by Baylor or do they just have an informal arrangement?
  17. I know some people don't like the whole idea of university rankings but it is better to use the US News rankings than just one criterion. It looks at a variety of factors.
  18. So my point being that as a university our goal should be to move UP not down, I wanted to get a sense of what we would be looking at further up the totem pole. I realize that getting such associations has challenges and even downsides in some cases. There is a reason SMU doesn't want to be associated with us. SMU is much more highly ranked as a university. Now why they would have that view and not feel the same about Houston, I can only attribute to us being in their backyard. Leaving out the true big conference schools, and forgetting all the barriers, here are some with which UNT should reasonably aspire to associate as a UNIVERSITY since they are ranked higher, but not too much higher, as such than UNT: Bowling Green Ball State LT (hurts doesn't it) SDSU UAB UCF Temple Cincinnati Idaho (ouch) Louisville USF Utah State Hawaii Nevada Wyoming CSU Buffalo Ohio (reach) And by the same standard here are some with which UNT SHOULD currently associate, though some are slighlty lower than NT: NMSU ECU (lower) Houston Memphis (lower) USM (lower) UNLV Of course, there are lesser schools that have better sporting success and recognition, and there are higher programs that have small or no sports programs. (I don't think we can count on an Ivy League invite.) One thing is clear to me: as a university we do not belong in the Sun Belt; it is weighing us down. If we don't get into CUSAMWC (where by the way there is some riffraff from our vantage point) then we should be talking to the best of MAC and remaining WAC, maybe take a couple of Belt schools and try to pick off one or two from the CUSAMWC, all to form a new conference that is better for all. If we're going to help anyone move up there would be a lot of candidates that are much better schools than Texas State or UTSA and even ranked ahead of NT. If you want local competition, go see games on Friday night. You will note that the crowds are usually not very big.
  19. Oh and yes I do expect 'vitriolic hatred' from those institutions.
  20. I read recently that we are offering a green light to greatness. Promoting Texas State and UTSA is a red light that leads to ruin. North Texas is a much better UNIVERSITY than those remedial institutions. This should be the last time that those two schools are mentioned in the same breath as UNT. Please feel free to mention them with Sam, SFA and UTA though. Then your words will make sense. If you think that associating with those institutions is necessary for North Texas' wellbeing, then you don't get it. You have no idea what you're talking about. You are trying to put the cart before the horse and let the tail wag the dog. Don't be stupid.
  21. Thanks for the pic. What is being lost in this discussion is that, for the benefit of the few who were there, apparently some hookers showed up.
  22. Oh man I wasn't talking about ancient history; I mean right now, and yes, not just sports. UT is no supporter of UNT, for anything. UT is a supporter (to a controlled extent of course) of UTA and UTD, with one important effect being to dilute the market for UNT.
  23. Let's face it. We've earned our lack of respect. If the SMUs, UTs, A&Ms and Texas Techs of the world have kept UNT down it's cause we didn't care enough to do something about it and weren't effective in countering it. That said, I have absolutely no doubt that every day representatives of those schools are working against the interests of UNT and thus against the citizens of the North Texas region. For that you get hate but you are not alone.
  24. If realignment does not produce something positive for UNT this time around, don't give up. Ultimately if UNT can get enough people who have a connection with UNT and live in the North Texas region to care about the sports programs' representation of them, then UNT cannot be held down. It is within our own control and that is basically what the Neinas report said. Establishing such affinity is something that every university has to do; some are better at it than others. Baylor and TCU didn't start winning because they were winning. They started winning because enough people wanted to see them winning. Our vision and desire is not shared by enough other people yet.
  25. Update: speculation on the PineNet is that a radar is something that may be used by police to check for sobriety.
