I'm glad they got some outside help. Benford had a lot going for him coming in but early on it was very clear - similar to Dodge in football - that it was not gonna go well. So something important was missed in the evaluation. We cannot afford for that to happen again. But this is a whole new leadership team than the one that made those mistakes. All we can do is hope they get it right. They have a lot at stake to do so.

Added stress??? Maybe they should have practiced and played harder and they would not have lost as many games. It is not ALL on the coach, but no doubt, a lot is on this coach.

I have no issue with the leadership acting like the leaders of one of the nation's largest universities. If anything I'd expect people to be encouraged that they're not doing the usual small-time thing. Maybe it reflects a dramatic change in mindset, and that would be awesome.

I'm excited to see how NT can come up with the money to get a BB coach in there who could really make a difference. Hiring back coach Jones would not get me excited; though I do appreciate what he did for NT. I would actually like to see NT win an NCAA tournament game. I don't know about NC State's coach. It would be a difficult decision.

Miami OH and Marshall both have indoor practice facilities.

The way other large public universities have constructed new BB arenas, the Pit has to be a significant negative factor in BB recruiting, and probably in other recruiting, even competing just for good students. It is not modern and has been terrible looking even since it was modern. With my kids I toured many universities. When good students go around they see all the facilities and there is a higher expectation now.

To make a big difference in recruiting at NT you'd have to hire a $2 million a year coach. Unfortunately I already spent my last $2 million. We have built a name for ourselves, but it's not a good name. It's too bad cause I sure like our logo.

Choices have to be made. You can't do everything at once and we have disproportionately paltry resources. I assume his main focus is fixing that which will help speed up recovery in other areas. Who knows what all that entails, and it's not the sort of thing that necessarily gives splashy news in the near term. Though I would encourage sharing more info on such plans and activities so we're not all having a conniption.

Well he got some remarkable football news. I always said basketball could wait but the priority is bearing a hefty price. As for the existing schedules, he could fly around the world really fast like Superman and that will cause the earth to spin backwards which for reasons I don't understand would cause time to go backwards, but I guess once you get past the Superman thing it doesn't matter.

Get someone else in there to lead - on a strictly interim basis - now. If nothing else it will be a learning experience to see if someone - and I mean anyone - can get some improvement. Talk about losing the players! They've got to be tired of losing too.

We should not regret for the theoretical loss of anticipated things that might have been, but we should certainly celebrate the real successes that have been achieved, and look forward to the new successes that will be achieved.

I'd much rather see a 20,000 seat stadium that is full every time than a 40,000 one that is at 25%.

It is not directly the dollar amount but the only way to promote and compete at a comparable level is to devote a comparable level of funds. I am not happy with the situation right now. I am looking for more change. You see what the programs at 'our level' - some of which are thrashing us - are doing, like ODU and now FAU with the assistants. So we have a lot of work to do just to keep competing with them. Then there is the condition of our basketball which is being exposed again today in Charlotte.

You guys seem to want to preserve relevance but from the standpoint of major P5 supporters we don't have it and the only way we could get it is by doubling the budget. All I want is consistent winning and stop playing teams with double or triple the budget, unless we're going to double or triple the budget instead. I don't care who the winning is against. If there was commitment to consistently succeed at 1AA level we'd have been fine there but there was no such commitment.

Mean Green were one 4th down stop from winning. I sure wish they had won but I am proud of the effort, and I feel good about the direction the program is headed.
