ODU looking to bail C-USA?
Aquila_Viridis replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Wow that’s small time thinking right up there with some of the TX State fetishists on here. Good riddance to them. They should instead be pitching themselves at the American; I mean, they took WUshock. -
I don’t mind the FCS as long as we win by 30 plus. But piss on TX State. Let’s bury them. Put us in a position to beat a CO State, and then bring them in for a beating.

They’ll demand their souls!

Don’t mess with the spirit wolves. Once they fix their eyes upon you - ... well ok they don’t really have eyes. But they do have scary white things that might have been eyes before the wolf head was turned into a ceremonial headdress for the Chief. And once they fix those upon you they can follow you even beyond the grave. So enjoy your curse, Miami.

Brutal stretch of games. Happy to see the team competitive against these teams. Hopefully these games will help them see how to be a team in the top third of the conference. For now I am happy to be in the middle third instead of the bottom. Don’t forget where we were just a year ago.

DRC breaking news -- UNT fee vote passes
Aquila_Viridis replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Wow I underestimated the wisdom of the current students. Probably because I so badly lacked wisdom during my time as a student. North Texas has strength in numbers. This is a great way to capitalize on it. Bravo! And props to Rudy on an all-too-rare deployment of ‘dolt’. One of my favorites in traffic, right after ‘dullard’. -
Occasionally MT showed it could methodically work the ball around to find an open shot. I didn't see much of that from NT. But NT did hit several key outside shots - some prayers - to stay in the game. I don't know exactly what Holston did or didn't do, but coach was after him hard most of the second half; sometimes we thought to the omission of direction for the other players.

At the game! Down by 5 at half. Maybe can win this one??? Go Mean Green!

Young people generally don’t know very much about what’s good for them. That is why leadership is needed.

Impressive win! I wish I could have gone over to Bham. Really happy about the prompt turnaround going on with the basketball program. Great work!

I don’t know how some places get to the point that college football success is so important they would pay an assistant coach $2 million a year. Some of the SEC and other schools have jumped the shark. I don’t even want to be in that club. But we better not play against teams like that either. And while I agree with moderation it’s not to the point of away games being a bus ride either. It’s not about representing a market. It’s about representing a community. NT has done a terrible job connecting with the community, and it is a giant community. Maybe it’s getting better but there is a lot of ground to make up.

Riddle Me This: North Dakota State

“Winning begets winning.” Dilly Dilly! -
I don’t even think of it about markets or TV. I do think where can we get to easy on flights, who has the best programs for us to play, and in my best dreams I think we should align with the places like South Florida, Houston, San Diego etc. that nominally represent a geographic place that is a populous area. It would make sense for all those kinds of places that are presently spread across 3 conferences. But I don’t say that because of market. It would just be a good defining conference identity, something all 3 of those conferences lack currently. Short of something like that, if we can’t get in AAC, then we need to get in MW ASAP, and obviously that does not involve just a bus ride. It sounds like a challenge cause of lack of TV monies, but those schools will make it happen and so can we.

Your Jonesboro theory does not apply to us. But you would like it if we acted like it did. I want the best for stAte. Your tiny school off the beaten path has overcome enormous adversity and has earned respect. But we have to go a very different way to achieve our potential. The schools are not comparable and it is a testament to decades of failed leadership that they can be mentioned in the same discussion. We can’t look down on SBC institutions at this time. And we can’t look at them as our future either.

MW is a clear step up from CUSA. It has to be our goal. Only small time thinkers wanting to drive to San Antonio and Ruston will argue. Go to games on Friday nights for your regional rivalries. MW membership would require a higher commitment. Let’s do it! It may not be what is best for your personal preferences, but it is definitely what is best for NT.

So far at halftime, the Frisco is my favorite bowl. As for our own bowl performance, in comparison to MAkron, at least our 3 had a 0 after it.

It was sad watching the espn guys’ Category 5 man crush.

Kiffin signs 10 year extension
Aquila_Viridis replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s good for FAU cause they will get more money so they can spend on a replacement. Another year like this and dude WILL be on to greener pastures. With him plus the Briles though, it’s a good bet FAU is gonna get hammered for something and they won’t get the same kind of leniency as Baylor. -
Wins are wins. We can’t know all they are faced with in allocating resources. It was very impressive to get the 9 wins. You can’t take away from that. But against better teams, you see the gaping holes that had to be made up for to get the wins. Those have to be addressed or they will be better exploited even by the lesser teams.

Players opinion on D coordinator
Aquila_Viridis replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
That bowl game showed you all you need to know. That ridiculous 2 point play shouldn’t have done anything but gone for a score the other way. And I recall multiple times Troy handed off once inside the 5 for walk-in scores. It was like there was no defense. Not even making it difficult. That starts from the top. -
The only way to recruit OL or any position is have a position coach that is sure to help the player develop more than he would develop at peer programs. So the question is, do we have such a position coach? I don’t know who the coaches are at that level. I figure you can’t have the luxury of getting a dream position coach at every position; so choices must be made. But how is a craphole place like Troy making us look so bad?? We need to be killing the Troy and SO Miss and LT kind of places. I know it takes time to get back from being so bad, but I would like to hear about specifically how NT plans to get there.

Great win! Nice way to end the day for fans on what was a crap day for football. Thank you!!

Can we take a moment to appreciate this team?
Aquila_Viridis replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Oh I thought this was gonna be about the basketball team, who picked up a great road win tonight. -
Probably not after the display today.
