  1. That is nice they are giving work to aspiring young architects. I figure in the original design it was pink and had a few more pony ups, and maybe some glitter and various types of uncooked noodles.
  2. It will be an improvement over what they have, so good for them. As for tops in facilities, absolutely not. Our stadium is much more impressive looking. The press box thing will look very familiar to high school athletes but that’s not going to be an advantage in recruiting.
  3. The rulemaking exercised great restraint by not awarding points to the receiving team for a fair catch. Or did they just leave room for such amendments in the future???
  4. There should be no shame. Other schools of every description are pushing to rise above. The extent of it would come as a shock to most alumni. And many of them would ask ‘What’s the point?’ And it is a really legitimate question. NT and supporters need to have a good answer.
  5. Abandonment is not the right course. It is true that NT appeals disproportionately to students who were not in the In Crowd in high school. It is also true that many of those people come in looking for a situation where disengagement is the norm. That is because the rah rah stuff reminds them of exclusion. But it does not take much consistent enjoyment at the athletic events to turn that around. 6-0 at home is a great start, because not much fun will be had when there are a lot of losses. But we have to get a lot more of winning games to win hearts and minds. The opportunity unfortunately is lost with many alumni. It has to be present- and forward-looking. Where the money comes from then, to get those wins, is a huge challenge. I wish I had an answer, and I hope the people in charge now can figure one out.
  6. Why not apply? You have an expectation anyone would stay at NT instead of taking the TN job with the huge increase in pay and recognition? And it doesn’t invalidate the positive stuff about NT. NT is also a great opportunity. But not on the same order of magnitude at this time.
  7. Are they talking about building it on the north side of downtown when the UAB is on the south side of downtown? That would be a terrible idea! The only thing that would make sense is to try and make that more of an integral campus, and they have made improvements. I guess maybe they think they’re gonna get an NBA team for that little arena by the convention center? Oh man that is all sad and crazy.
  8. It is a place for people who either are ready to buy into wide-eyed groupspeak nonsense or are willing to proclaim it despite knowing it’s nonsense. And I’m not talking about the actual spiritual stuff. All that sadness we read about Liberty and shutting down the naysayers; Liberty didn’t invent that.
  9. Bullshit. There is no denying that Baylor has a special version of such problem. They just need to be shut down. I mean, not just the athletics; the whole place.
  10. This is a lot of speculation based on NMS desperation.
  11. I would have thought it just collapsed in the middle cause so long for a concrete segment, but in the video it looks like the support on the left gave way or it fell off that support. I was impressed by the drivers who immediately got out and ran forward to help. It’s what you should do of course, but to see people actually doing it is at least one encouraging sign in such a terrible tragedy.
  12. What a disaster. Especially sad when the purpose is to keep people out of harm’s way by avoiding a dangerous road crossing. I thought of our bridge over 35 and the structures are very different. That FIU has a lot of concrete particularly with the cover. There is no center support. The middle span of ours is probably comparable in length but ours has a heavy metal cage on the bottom and the cover is light metal not concrete. I wonder how much real world testing they put on an experimental structure before they deployed it with peoples’ lives at stake.
  13. I don’t know when ‘fans’ ever made it clear not to join MWC. This fan is all in favor of it. Beyond that, we don’t do this just to be on TV so no reason to expect TV will pay for it. And we don’t do it so a handful of people can drive to every away game. NT needs a national, metropolitan reputation that has to be funded by other means if necessary. It’s FLY like an eagle, not ride the bus like an eagle.
  14. Finally a (much appreciated) win!
  15. NMS, LaLa, Troy. You’re out of your mind. We have got to stay out of places like that. That jackass ODU writer was talking about JMU too. Same type of nonsense. Why not put Nacogdoches and Abilene on your list of fantasy destinations?
  16. TX State = Friday Night Lights
  17. Wow that’s small time thinking right up there with some of the TX State fetishists on here. Good riddance to them. They should instead be pitching themselves at the American; I mean, they took WUshock.
  18. I don’t mind the FCS as long as we win by 30 plus. But piss on TX State. Let’s bury them. Put us in a position to beat a CO State, and then bring them in for a beating.
  19. They’ll demand their souls!
  20. Don’t mess with the spirit wolves. Once they fix their eyes upon you - ... well ok they don’t really have eyes. But they do have scary white things that might have been eyes before the wolf head was turned into a ceremonial headdress for the Chief. And once they fix those upon you they can follow you even beyond the grave. So enjoy your curse, Miami.
  21. Brutal stretch of games. Happy to see the team competitive against these teams. Hopefully these games will help them see how to be a team in the top third of the conference. For now I am happy to be in the middle third instead of the bottom. Don’t forget where we were just a year ago.
  22. Wow I underestimated the wisdom of the current students. Probably because I so badly lacked wisdom during my time as a student. North Texas has strength in numbers. This is a great way to capitalize on it. Bravo! And props to Rudy on an all-too-rare deployment of ‘dolt’. One of my favorites in traffic, right after ‘dullard’.
  23. Occasionally MT showed it could methodically work the ball around to find an open shot. I didn't see much of that from NT. But NT did hit several key outside shots - some prayers - to stay in the game. I don't know exactly what Holston did or didn't do, but coach was after him hard most of the second half; sometimes we thought to the omission of direction for the other players.
  24. At the game! Down by 5 at half. Maybe can win this one??? Go Mean Green!
  25. Young people generally don’t know very much about what’s good for them. That is why leadership is needed.
