  1. Yeah. But I would like to see UNT play Houston & SMU. Don't get me wrong. I love that we're playing Rice & UTEP but SMU would be a great conference rival for us (and for them though they're too myopic to see it) & I would love to play them every year.
  2. I never could keep those two straight. From now on it's F_U.
  3. If we were to take on another Belt school - which I sincerely hope we don't - MTSU isn't among my choices. I would rather have FIU or Louisiana. GBT
  4. I'm excited because it ain't the SBC. No more Monroe. No more WKU. No more Troy. I could go on and on.
  5. It's a first step towards a meaningful playoff and any movement towards a playoff is better than the silliness we have now. GBT
  6. I also lived in El Paso and I had a totally different sense. My friends & acquaintances thought of themselves as Texans. When they sent their kids to college, it was to a Texas college. When they left for job opportunities, it was to DFW or Houston. El Paso is the western-most Texas city, but it's still Texas.
  7. I agree. If more SBC teams were to come the only others I would be happy about are Louisiana & FAU. I fully expect La Tech in the Alliance. If another WAC school is invited do you prefer Texas State of UTSA?
  8. "With the help of our comrads over at bobcatreport.com, late this evening, IRS has confirmed that a SPECIAL University of Texas System Board of Regents meeting has been called and set for Thursday, April 12th of next week. As of right now, there appear to be two possible options on the table. This could be an announcement for UTEP who has been rumored to possibly be jumping to the MWC and could clear the way for UTSA to be added and replace The Miners in C-USA." Given this information, is it possible there's a third option on the table - consideration of a bid to join the Sun Belt?
  9. Totally irrelevant. We won't be conference mates long.
  10. I really had little opinion about either FAU or FIU before reading this thread. Now I definitely prefer FAU.
  11. I prefer FAU over FIU. If another sbc school is invited, I'd rather it be Louisiana than middle tennessee. Heck, I'd rather have BOTH FAU & FIU and leave mt in the belt.
  12. It may not matter much who is listed as starter. Both players will see significant time and both will contribute to the success of the team. GBT
  13. Friends, GL2Greatnes isn't a SMU fan. Nor is he a UTSA, TsSt, or any other fan. He's just some poor sod who enjoys getting people worked up. I'll bet he posts anti-SMU stuff on their board. The best response to this idiocy is to ignore the little jerk. Starve him of the attention he craves and he'll go somewhere else.
  14. It doesn't matter who joins the SBC. Noth Texas will bve long gone by the 2013-2014 academic year.
  15. I used up my entire quota of '+' & '-' votes on this one thread. Fun times at Go Mean Green!
  16. Great video. Condolences on losing your friend. My family has 6 dogs (yeah, I know), the youngest is 14. There are sad times coming.
  17. You obviously raised your son right!
  18. God bless Texas... and bring us safely to our second independence day - whenever it is.
  19. It would give Louisiana an in-state rivel and it would get them the hell out of the SBC.
  20. District 33 2A
  21. Both UTSA & Texas State - SM have shown impressive improvements in academics over the last 10 years of so. They're both big, fast-growing schools with ambitions in athletics - sorta like UNT. I have no problem being in a conference with either. I just don't want it to be the Sun Belt.
  22. I'm confused. Congress did not set an unreasonably short time-limit for review? Congress didn't do this to set up the political catch-22 you describe? I don't believe you're so naive as to think congressional Republicans weren't playing politics with this issue. They put the president in a no-win situation. Long-term it's no big deal. Trans-Canada will resubmit the application. It will be reviewed with due-diligence. It will almost certainly be approved in some form. A form that will certainly be better than the original proposal. As for putting politics over the best interests of the nation - you're projecting.
