UNT 90, Do you really think the Tea Party can be considered anything except 'extreme'? Most politicians who appeal to the Tea Party self-identify as ultra-conservative. That's okay. That's what their constituency wants. But please don't try to describe Mr. Cruz as a moderate.

Kudos to every student (frat or not) & alum that supports UNT. May albino squirrels crap on every student (frat or not) & alum that fails to support UNT.

Threads like this say more about the GMG members than about the Mean Green. Let's see some optimism people! UNT 77 College of Southern Louisiana 0.

After carefully reading every post in this thread - I'm heartily glad it's NT's coaching staff that makes personnel decisions, not NT's fans.

I think the magic number is 1K not 2K. Under their old conference they reserved 1000 for visitors, under cUSA they need an additional 1000.

Dude, do you actually read what you write? The Rangers made it to the World Series 2 years in a row & have a shot (albeit not great) at a 3rd appearance, and you're dissing that? Good grief....

North Texas gained more respect playing LSU & playing well at Kansas than we did by beating Texas Southern and FAU. If all you want is a win let's drop down to Div II and play Texas A&M - Commerce. For my part, I want my university to play at the highest level of college athletics - nothing less.

Defense Comes Up Big In UNT's 20-14 Win over FAU
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
God bless 'em! Win, lose, or tie. We have coaches & players we should be proud of. They represent our university well. -
I don't really care about the number of stars behind a kid's name. There are a lot of good football players in Texas. Recruit kids who can play the game, fit NT's scheme, are good citizens, & can take advantage of the academic opportunities they are offered & I'll be happy.

Nevermind the metrics, this is the kind of kid you build football teams with.

ATHEISTS ARE JUST TOO MUCH
GTWT replied to foutsrouts's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Any person who would say anything of the sort is irrational. MeanGreenTexan, I understand the tendency of Christians to think atheists hate them & their God. But I think this is a classic case of projection. -

Sounds like you were never really an atheist. -
Nation of Texas College Football Rankings- Week Four
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I value a respectable loss to LSU more than a win over Texas Southern. If I didn't, I would favor dropping down to IAA and playing Sam Houston or Prairieview every week. -
ATHEISTS ARE JUST TOO MUCH
GTWT replied to foutsrouts's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'm not really sure the old truism about no atheists in foxholes is true. My father spent a lot of time in fox holes at Anzio & he was a dyed-in-the-wool materialist. An atheist is just someone who has no need for a god to explain existence. No need for heaven or hell to behave morally or ethically. If you find the idea of god useful then bless you my green friend. As for me and my house.... -

Wishing Hell on those who disagree with you - a very Christian attitude. -
Concept of playing a winnable Home opener in review
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Just because other BCS schools do it doesn't make it right. It's boring. I'd rather watch a good Highschool game than a ridiculous mismatch in college. -
That wouldn't be bad. I'll take 4 straight conference championships. Truth is, neither this win nor last weeks loss tell us much about the 2012 Mean Green. Next week? Yeah, that should tell us whether UNT is improving.

To play a national power or not to play a national power
GTWT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Money. National exposure (albeit as a sacrificial lamb). And recruits want to come to a program where they will on occasion play Texas, LSU, Alabama, & Oklahoma. Those are all good reasons to schedule top-10 teams. Plus some day we'll win one of those games. -
These are good kids. They're battling for our university. They deserve our support. Let's give that support in every way we can - attendance at the games & money (if you can afford it). And let's be careful what we say on this forum when things don't go quite right. They may lose but it won't be for lack of heart. God bless North Texas!

Scott, you seem like a reasonable & intelligent person. You make a good argument. I do suggest that you should read beyond Rush & 'WattsUpWithThat?'. Read the summaries of the IPCC reports (e.g., http://www.ipcc.ch/p...esis_report.htm ), read the statements from the AAAS, the Royal Society, & the dozens of other national academies (links can be found at http://en.wikipedia...._climate_change ). Scientists aren't always right. In fact, science progresses, in part, by positing hypotheses that are subsequently proven wrong. But science has been shown to be our best tool for arriving at an understanding of reality. Good luck & thank God we're in cUSA.

Government, and the people who make up both government & the governed, are empowered by many things. Government is empowered by an income stream, by an effective military, and by information, including scientific information. So the answer is 'yes.' Your argument isn't with the science, it's with the effects the science will have on government decisions that effect you & your finances. I'm sorry, Scott, but it's irrational to reject reality because you don't like what it will mean for you. Oh, and Legend500 raises an interesting point, Scott. When he asks for citations, he's asking where do you get your information. There are scientists, a relatively few scientists, who agree with some of what you say, but I get the sense that those are not your sources. Who do you read on the subject of anthropogenic climate change?
