Everyone says that our emphasis on the running games keeps top HS quarterbacks from considering UNT. If true, shouldn't that also work against recruiting good receivers?

Compare UNT in 2001 with UNT 2015. Apogee, cUSA, 4 conference FB titles, 5 bowl games, improving student athlete academics. I'm pretty happy with the progress made under RV. Of course, my favorite movies are Disney.

Geez, ya think? One year ago we beat them 43-6. Things haven't changed that much in 12 months for either team. So, yes, we can win.

He's right, of course. A rivalry requires competition. 43-6 is not competitive.

Thanks for reminding us of this Harry. People frequenting a college sports board sometimes lose sight of priorities. It should also be remembered that our AD has placed emphasis on academics as well.

Personally I would like to forget all about the Belt, but I keep having the same nightmares.

Some folks think UNT is in bad shape - I don't agree. I like the direction we're going. I will be glad when our progress is reflected in more wins, but till then I'm still proud of my school. I think one of the best things to happen to UNT was leaving the Belt. Now let's not ruin that by dragging the remainder of the Sun Belt along with us.

​Apparently changing the number wasn't enough. BTW, I have a great deal of respect for ArkStFan. I appreciate his love for his school. As an alum of UNT, however, I want to leave the nightmare that was the Sun Belt far behind.

Take homes from thread: 1) Somehow both SMU & ArkyState have managed to step down in class. 2) SMU fans appear to think that money buys success - didn't the death penalty teach them anything? 3) 43-6.

How does one do that? ​We won the only conference we were members in during that period. Show a little pride in your school's accomplishments.

I really miss the insightful, football-savvy fans of the Dickey era. No, actually I don't. Also,.... Why would any Mean Green fan want to belittle a period of success for our school's athletic program?

Like it or not concealed carry on campus is going to happen. I think we should look at this as an opportunity to make the process better. First, it's crazy not to have a rigorous back-ground check. Make the training longer & more rigorous. Make sure the instructors are well qualified. Make sure the campus authorities, especially the campus police, are well drilled in situations where large numbers of citizens are armed & panicing. It would also help to equip professors with bullet proof vests & helmets to wear while lecturing.

This discussion reminds me of a college football board I uded to follow in the early 2000s. Team won 4 straight conference titles, went to 4 straight bowl games, & the HC was coach-of-the-year 4 straight times. And yet - the genuses on the board weren't happy. Oh, wait........
