I didn't try to count, but it wasn't good. It's hard to blame the students or the casual fans - this season has been a disaster & fan investment is at a depressing low. That's sad but things will get better. Saddest of all, is the way NT's supposed die-hard fans are celebrating every piece of bad news - whether attendance or players baling. Great leadership '90. If you only knew something about football you'd make a great coach.

Your private life is your business. Just don't include me in your weird fantasies.

We'll both be there. It'll be easy to tell us apart - I'll be the one cheering for UNT.

If recruiting is indeed the #1 priority for this hire...
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Only a fool thinks getting paid this kind of money to teach 18 year olds to play a game is a 'garbage job'. I get that you don't like RV. That's fine, he can survive your hatred. But to translate that into a hatred for your alma mater is crazy. -
With fans like '90 how can we lose.

Good stuff. These are our kids. Forget the AD. Forget the coaches. Support UNT's student athletes.

DRC Monday column: New coach must unite fractured fan base

So we need a head coach who believes in astrology? He'll only play games on dates when the planets align? -

MGB: "Fire Rick Villarreal" banner flies in Denton
GTWT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I seem to remember the geniuses of this board were excited about all or most of those hires. I'm not sure if Rick Villarreal is the right person to direct UNT athletics from this point on but I do know he has accomplishments we should all be grateful for. If he must go so be it, but the comments (and the banner, are classless - in my opinion. -
How about - won more conference championships, won more conference coach-of-the-year awards.

" Dickey killed his own program with his "too good to be here attitude", insulting behavior and lazy recruiting. " Dickey irritated a lot of $100 a year donors who thought he should kiss their butts. Tough. Coach Dickey won more than any NT coach since Hayden Fry. He's not the right coach for UNT today, but to denigrate his contributions to our university is silly.

"Bogie" I am so tired of cute nicknames for one of our opponent's players.

We haven't played our 1st 2015 game and already the negativity on this board is stifling. If you have this same mind-set in your job, your family, and elsewhere in your life you must lead really wonderful lives.

Most of us are in favor of less government. EXCEPT, of course, for those things that matter most to a person. Concerned about illegal immigration? Then you will probably favor spending billions of taxpayer dollars to hire more border patrol & build a wall. Concerned about the red menace, or radical Islam, or whatever? Then you will probably favor spending billions of taxpayer dollars building new aircraft carriers & F35 jets. Government programs are garbage, except when they are programs we agree with.

Can Darrien McNair Change Fortunes Of Mean Green?
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Getting McNair is great. BUT if an 18-year old linebacker is being counted on as your program's savior, your program is in trouble. This kid is hopefully one part of an improving roster, and that's enough. -
Judging from the experts on this board (that's right UNT90, I called you an 'expert') Mac is under pressure to win now. That means all meaningful minutes go to McNulty or Smith. Any available mop-up minutes will be used to evaluate whichever of the two didn't start. Neither Greer nor Means get live action, and neither get many reps n practice.

Sun Belt commissioner: Cut back on 'money' games vs. Power 5
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I like playing top schools. True our chances of beating UT or OU may not be great but we did scare the bejeebers of the horns once & we beat the other UT. AND, as UNT90 would tell you, it's nice being able to balance the budget.- 21 replies

UNT90, 1) Balancing the budget is a priority of the BOR & the university administration - not the only or top priority but still critical. 2) Athletics are important to me & you, but the reason a university exists is academics. Athletics are a priority only to the extent they support the mission of the university.
