Conference Realignment More Interest or Less
GTWT replied to Mike Jackson's topic in Mean Green Football
It's over. RV is gone. Let the dead rest in peace. -
There were 6 RBs on the list & 10 OL. This list is kinda like the little participation trophies they give kids in kid-soccer.

As usual, Harry, you hit the mark.

Are you really going to use these many national tragedies to make political hay? Disgusting.

Confused About Assault Rifles
GTWT replied to DeepGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'm pretty sure that legally buying a fully automatic weapon requires a Federal license. -
Do you really think that single-shot 22 (or that semi-auto AK47) is going to protect you from the US government if the government really wanted to oppress you? That's delusional. What really protects us from government oppression is rule of law. NRA nuts screaming that we must protect the 2nd amendment rights of terrorists - That is truly bonkers.

Imagine the frustration of leaving the Sun Belt, move to cUSA, only to watch the best schools leave cUSA, & have cUSA devolve into the Sunbelt. I admire your love of ASU - that's great. But it doesn't mean I want ASU, or any other Sun Belt school in the same conference as North Texas.
-
It does say something about the health of our conference mates. Please, no more Sun Belt schools graduating into cUSA.

Maybe we shouldn’t have zoos
GTWT replied to Skipper's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Zoos serve functions - education, fostering conservation awareness, etc. Unfortunately, some zones serve their functions very poorly. -
Cruz has been one of the few that has been willing to stand up for conservative issues even when those in his own party disagreed with him. Rubio will need some time to wipe the gang of 8 stink from his past, but I like him too. Rick Honest question - Does it bother you that so many of his Republican colleagues (e.g., former speaker Boehner & Texas Senator John Cornyn) have found Senator Cruz to be difficult to work with? Can you see President Cruz making the compromises with Congress that he refused to do as Senator?

After doing a little Googling I've changed my mind, he's just one more who indulges in science denial - http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/paul-ryans-forceful-rejection-climate-science

He looked pretty weak in the debate with Biden, but Biden will do that to you. It's early, but so far he seems to be fairly effective as speaker. God knows that herding that group can't be easy.

Actually, I'm fairly impressed with Ryan. Why are so many Republicans enamored with people like Trump & Palin, when there are decent leaders in the Party? There are things I want to learn about Ryan, but at this point I think he may be a decent choice in 4 or 8 years.

Well, Paul Ryan, Republican Speaker of the House, says Trump's comments were racist http://www.usatoday.com/media/cinematic/video/85551130/ryan-trumps-comment-on-judge-is-racist/ ryan-trumps-comment-on-judge-is-racist[1]

Most of those at the Alamo, Goliad, & San Jacinto were from Tennessee, the Carolinas, and probably Indiana. Texas revolutionary heroes actually born in Texas mostly had names like Seguin, Gonzales, & Sanchez. Texas, like being a Texan, is a state of mind.
