MGB: Five burning questions heading into offseason
GTWT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It ain't the stars & it ain't the number & quality of offers - it's how well the kid fits your needs & your scheme. The best judge of that are the coaches, not the recruiting gurus & not the folks on this board. How well they recruited won't be known in February, it will take years to know the value of the class. Patience & faith.- 61 replies

MGB: Five burning questions heading into offseason
GTWT replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
You're judging recruiting success based on one time-constrained class (2016) and one class (2017) that isn't final yet? Jesus wept. -
I may be wrong but didn't they recently fire their head coach?

Army is a respected institution - and we have a legitimate chance to beat them.

A few years ago I thought UTSA was a joke. They've earned my respect by kicking our butts. I still prefer playing Rice & UTEP but UTSA has my respect.

Group of 5 officials considering playoff for non-Power 5 teams
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Me too. However, if a program's goal is to fill a 20K stadium it probably doesn't belong in FBS. -
Who was that poor woman stuck between the two?

Great information. Brett, I can't tell you how much I look forward to your articles. Thanks.

MGB: UNT lands top-rated JUCO wide receiver

Since he was released by ND does he have to sit out a year? -

I love the idea of instituting the British soccer promotion/demotion system but unfortunately it will never happen. Can you imagine Vandy, Northwestern, Texas Tech, or others like them voting for such a system? There are a lot more of the usually bad teams around than there are Alabamas & Ohio States. Too bad, it would be a lot of fun. -
Harry, Cerberus, You can give me a demerit just for what I'm thinking.

MGB: Recruiting state of the union -- it's too early to panic
GTWT replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Much of the criticism of RV was valid but Rick's gone. Criticism of the new staff is, at this point, silly. -
MGB: Recruiting state of the union -- it's too early to panic

Criticism is expected, but it helps if it is informed criticism & isn't constant. Negativity gets old. -
One more point - UNT coaches called a great game. I loved the fake punt and, even when it didn't succeed, 4th down tries

There are fewer former Sun Belt teams in the MWC so I vote MWC. Have I ever mentioned that I hate the Sun Belt?

LB Fred Scott Named To C-USA All-Academic Team
GTWT replied to brooks91's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope Fred stays involved in the UNT program. Graduate Assistantship? -
Bless '90 for his support of UNT athletics.

Before the season began I thought 3 wins would be an okay improvement over 2015. Five wins makes me really excited about next year. New AD. New coaching staff. And I haven't given UNT90 a -1 in months. Yes the future looks bright green.

Seth Littrell may be candidate for open Houston job
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
People who know college football -, really know college football (and that's not me and probably not you) - base evaluations on more that just records and statistics. I suspect there are folks in Texas college football who understand and appreciate the job Seth Littrell has done this year. Their biggest problem in making this decision might be in explaining it to the geniuses on their fan boards.- 81 replies

We beat the team USM put on the field. That's the best we could do. I'm not sure why a fan would denigrate their own team's success.

I don't understand how that post deserves -26 negations. I don't care if they're wearing t-shirts & speedos as long as they win. Well...., okay I don't really want to see a bunch of 300 hundred pound guys in speedos but you know what I mean.
