  1. It's possible to be respectful of other people and to treat animals humanely. You don't have to condone either.
  2. I really hate that cUSA is playing Friday night games. That should be dedicated to highschool football. It's in the Constitution or the Ten Commandments or something.
  3. Sometimes you simply don't have any good guys. I suspect that's the case here.
  4. Coaching is a small, transparent profession. I suspect Kiffin knew about Carter's past problems before offering him the position.
  5. "Former Alabama wideout Antonio Carter is suing Lane Kiffin, Florida Atlantic and the state of Florida for fraud," http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2699434?iid=ob_article_organicsidebar_expansion
  6. No. Everyone does not have tattoos now.
  7. JJ would be an interesting hire. I wonder how this message board would respond. It might be amusing.
  8. ACS is Div I FCS & they're building a stadium that seats 8.5k?
  9. Hush! We don't want UT or OU to hear!
  10. Yes. But SMU is close. It has name recognition. The game is winnable. Plus I abhor the snotty jerks. SMU tops my list of non-conference games.
  11. It's just as obscene with the big boys. These are, for the most part, state universities. No coach, even at UT or TAMU, should be paid ten times what a tenured professor in business, physics, or engineering is paid. Athletics are a valuable part of the university experience but are not the university's reason for being. You're right about the probable course of affairs in college athletics. I would hope that that 'second tier' would end up being more compelling than the semi=pro first tier. College athletics should be for student athletes. Students who play for their college and for the love of the game. Screw the Alabamas & Oklahomas, and the athletes who skip their last college game to avoid an injury that might compromise their draft position. Rant over.
  12. I think any time that you follow a one-win season (that included a blow-out loss to Portland State) with a five-win season, you can call that a "highly successful" season. Kinda off topic, but does anyone else think that college football is out of control when the linebacker coach gets paid more than many professors, the defensive coordinator gets paid more than some deans, and the head coach is the highest paid public employee in the state?
  13. It's amazing how many UNT 'supporters' want to belittle the success that UNT has had. Four conference championships, four coach-of-the-year awards, and some $100-a-year fans are pissed because he didn't kiss their butts.
  14. We were blown out by Portland State. It wasn't because they recruited more 3-star players.
  15. Once that 4-star recruit figures out that UAB isn't the Crimson Tide there goes his commitment.
  16. That's not how one of our players reading GMG will see it. They'll think we don't like the class - that the coaches should have been able to get better players. Those 19 kids are on our team - support them.
  17. How is that different?
  18. It's a rhetorical question designed to make people think about how silly it is to bash our class on the basis of stars or offers. Bashing an individual player is counter-productive. Bashing the entire class is worse.
  19. Hypothesis: Three star recruits with no red flags overwhelmingly get P5 offers. Those with red-flags (academic, attitude, et al.) end up at G5 schools. If so, this would make a high-ranked G5 class such as UTSA has highly questionable.
  20. Not always. Remember Keith's nugget?
  21. For those of you who think this is a weak recruiting class, which of the 19 new kids would you drop?
  22. Do you really believe that UNT has sucked at everything? Or just athletics? Or just football & basketball? My university has a proud history in music, business, education, biological sciences, and many others. Careful how you generalize.
  23. Over-generalize much?
  24. Many people on GoMeanGreen.com had turned against DD well before those last two years. It's the nature of UNT fans. If we ever again become a consistent winner I hope that changes - but probably not. Negativity is too easy to post.
