You have every right to think so. -

This isn't about religion, it's about science. It's about not teaching our children things that are demonstrably untrue. Teaching children that the earth is 6,000 years old, that the earth was covered by a flood 4,000 years ago, and that talking snakes led mankind into sin, that's bullshit. A 'university' that would teach such idiocy may be well within their rights, but it's not a place I want UNT to associate with. This is about science, and maybe it's about culture. The founder of Liberty thought that AIDS was God's punishment for homosexuals & that that the 4,000 deaths at the Twin Towers was God punishing our country for abortion. I don't want UNT associated with that garbage either As for TCU & SMU I respect them, not for their religious beliefs, but rather for the fact that they teach evolution in their science classrooms. -
First, that's not a statement that the FBI Director would make. Second, you're the one who said that Comey stated on numerous occasions that he was not investigating President Trump. I'm just asking that you document just one of those occasions. I don't think you can. If you do I'll apologize profusely.

Yes. On the Mean Green we agree. -

It's true that any biologist willing to teach at Liberty is probably a young earth creationist, But if that professor came to his senses and accepted the overwhelming evidence for evolution he would be sacked. Liberty requires the teaching of a viewpoint that is demonstrably false. Do they have the right to do so? Yes. But I have the right to say that I want to have nothing to do with such a school. I'm disappointed that my university has chosen to do so, By the way, this isn't about religion. I have no problem with playing TCU or SMU. Those schools don't insist that only they are right. -

The funny thing is they don't believe everyone should have freedom of choice. Faculty members have to accept Liberty's faith statement - including accepting that Genesis is literally true. It's hard to expect a geologist or biologist to agree that the earth is only a few thousand years old & that all life was created in a week. If you want to believe such nonsense that's fine. To require your science faculty believe it is crap I don't want to be associated with. -

This has nothing to do with visiting a beautiful part of the country, or scheduling a FBS opponent we can beat, or the quality of their facilities. This has to do with lending credibility to an institution that is contrary to the values I hope UNT embodies. It isn't about conservatism or liberalism. It's about an ultra-right religious ideology where adherence to one man's interpretation of Christianity trumps everyone else's. -
Or maybe Liberty will earn the chance to face us in one of the Metroplex bowls! That should draw a great crowd & attract the interest of lots of fundamentalist high school players. (sorry. I'm going to be bitter for a while.)

For the life of me I don't see how swapping Army for Liberty will bring a P5 to Apogee. Even if it does I don't think trading a winnable Army game for a home loss to a P5 is a good thing. Add to that the fact that I don't like being on the same continent with Liberty, much less the same field. And I certainly don't want to visit them.

Congratulations to the North Texas program & especially to our student athletes!

I hate that we're playing a school like Liberty. I hate that we're not playing Army. This move was as stupid as anything I've see at North Texas, and that includes dropping to IAA.

Louisiana University Woes
GTWT replied to GTWT's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I think many people involved in higher education in Louisiana would agree with you. However, the closing of a school is a tough sell. Even Louisiana-Monroe has alums that would kill to keep that place open & funded. -

It's inevitable: Conference USA as we know it is going to change
GTWT replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I personally have no problem aligninf with the better SLC Texas schools, especially if it means not having to associate with Sun Belt refugees. But maybe that's just the Republican in me. -

One obvious change is that the mid-major conferences will become more regional. For UNT this means allying with Texas and Louisiana schools. I won't miss the F_U schools. It will be interesting to see where SMU ends up. -
I don't mean to rag on you. We're talking about very different things. You're talking about how easy it is to indict and convict someone on the web without much chance for that person to defend himself. I don't think that's the case here, but I understand your point. I just hate bullies. Someone who beats up a woman half his size, or a defenseless child, or a cowering animal is worthless in my eyes. This thug beat the crap out of an animal that worshipped him then bragged about it in a Facebook post. There's no pit in hell too hot for him.

I kinda think 'concerned citizens' are a good thing.
