  1. Vegas sets a line to achieve equal $$$ bet on each side. They're not really saying that UTSA is 4.5 pts better than UNT.
  2. Agree. I do think, however, that this is the perfect opportunity for peaceful protest. Don Trump, Jr. isn't a convicted felon but he is complicit in the activities of his father's administration.
  3. The wealthy (it's a relative term) do it the 'right way'. The poor do it the way it's been done for generations. Crossing the river is a fact of life on the border - it has been for hundreds of years. They come here, they work, some stay but most go back sooner or later. They're good for us & we're good for them.
  4. That "right way" is almost impossible for the typical immigrant from Mexico. Come up with a reasonable process & a reasonable time-frame and then complain if it isn't followed.
  5. I think you may be confused concerning which Trump TCUFrog said was being falsely accused. Actually the fraud suit concerning Trump U was brought in August 2013. https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/ag-schneiderman-sues-donald-trump-trump-university-michael-sexton-defrauding-consumers
  6. Yeah those accusations that candidate Trump bragged about groping women, failed to pay contractors, and defrauded enrollees in Trump U were all fabricated.
  7. UTA is a very different sort of university than UNT. UTA is the commuter school that 30 years ago we all were afraid UNT would become.
  8. http://www.chronicle.com/blogs/ticker/u-of-north-texas-president-tried-to-stop-donald-trump-jr-from-speaking-on-campus/120453?cid=pm&utm_source=pm&utm_medium=en&elqTrackId=5bdfce1b46864229b57e5f937913fb95&elq=eaeee7e2ad6c4519a1719f377f9adb8d&elqaid=15909&elqat=1&elqCampaignId=6857
  9. It will be 2020 or 2021 before we know how good the next recruiting class is. Unless, of course, you value the opinion of some fat guy sitting in Minneapolis over actual results.
  10. Break a leg! Is Stand-up Eagle still around & performing?
  11. I disagree with some of the things associated with Dr. King, but I would support your right to erect monuments to his memory.
  12. What Lee said was that slavery was a greater evil for the white race (the enslavers) than for the black race (the slaves). The black race emerged emerged from slavery morally unscathed, the same can't be said for the white race.
  13. Not at all. Slavery, with all the horrors endured by the enslaved, was an even greater evil for the slave owner. The slave, for all she endured, was not morally degraded, the slave owner was.
  14. You wouldn't agree with Lee that slavery was, " a greater evil to the white man than to the black race "?
  15. Very elegantly put. I think the reason Lee was honored with statues in Texas is that he was admired in Texas as much as he was in Virginia. His life was one of courage & dignity both during and after the war. That was his message, not slavery - ". There are few, I believe, in this enlightened age, who will not acknowledge that slavery as an institution is a moral and political evil." (Robert E. Lee, 1858).
  16. St. Jude is a wonderful organization & deserves our support. Best wishes to your grand-daughter & to your family.
  17. Oh, sweet Jesus...... I've got to quit posting drunk.
  18. We can afford 11 aircraft carrier battle groups. I think that qualifies us as 'wealthy;.
  19. Sherman, Texas was naked for a hero of the Texas revolution - Sydney Sherman.
  20. Luckily we're a wealthy nation and really don't have to choose between which of the poor we help. Also, and I'm sure this doesn't apply to you, I'm cynical enough to think that many of those opposed to helping immigrants really prefer to keep the cash in their own pockets rather than see it go to needy vets or immigrants.
  21. Taking care of the poor, whether native or immigrant, is a good investment. It's good both for our country's soul and pocketbook.
  22. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free..." But of course Emma Lazarus wasn't an alt-right Republican.
  23. The $7B figure I referenced above for payments to Social Security represents a minimum for illegals paying Federal taxes. Certainly many of the itinerant illegals are paid for short-term work & that won't be taxed. However, illegals who have been in the country for years and are working steady jobs are paying taxes & SS (though they can't expect to ever draw a dime from SS). Your numbers for incarceration are actually low. About 6.4% of state & federal prisoners are illegal. The interesting thing here is that, since about 6.9% of the US population is illegal, that means illegals are imprisoned at a lower rate than citizens. That's food for thought.
