  1. This is proving to be a hard show to cancel.
  2. Some things haven't changed. Maybe the next one will break the curse.
  3. We do.
  4. Choosing conference affiliation isn't just about athletic success. You want to be associated with schools that aren't an academic embarrassment. I want better for UNT than to be associated with Troy. Arrogant? Yeah, but that's life.
  5. If UNT was playing in our first meaningful game ever, and our star quarterback decided to sit it out, I wonder if all of y'all would still be so understanding of that kid's financial interest?
  6. Our AD spent his time trying to set up a bowl appearance against Liberty. The NCAA just wouldn't go for it.
  7. Three of BV's 5 players who exceeded expectations played defense. That's at least partially coaching.
  8. Ben, I'm just making the point that UNT won 50% more games than you predicted & went to the conference game when you thought they wouldn't. I wonder how bad your attitude would be if your expectations had been met. The green koolaid glass is half full Ben. Take a sip - it's delicious!
  9. Ben what was your prediction back in August? Did you expect UNT would reach the conference championship game? Did you expect the Mean Green would be in a bowl?
  10. You're right, they're not the same. You can support your school and celebrate a good year in college football. A year in which expectations were greatly exceeded. A year in which young players emerged, giving us hope for even better years to come. OR, you can try your damnedest to find negatives. That's what you choose Ben. Sad, really.
  11. There's a fine old tradition of supporting your university. You may want to try it some day.
  12. 9-5, while SMU is 7-6 & Cougar High is 7-5.
  13. Obviously can't play football,
  14. Good get. I predict in 2 to 4 years we'll be really glad this kid chose UNT. https://www.yurview.com/sports/cox-hs-hub/broken-arrows-derrick-shaw-has-college-recruiters-taking-notice/
  15. Another way of saying that I don't buy into the perverse negativity so many on this board wallow in.
  16. Dodge & Mac didn't identify those players (wanted by other teams or not) that would contribute to success within the UNT scheme. The job of the recruiter isn't just winning match-ups against competing coaches, it's identifying those kids you can sign that will be successful in your system. That means identifying character and academic potential, in addition to athletic ability.
  17. Who else wanted Mason Fine?
  18. i.e., you can't judge a recruiting class until you see what those kids do 2, 3, 4 years later on the field.
  19. Why does recruiting remind me of fantasy football?
  20. He used the future tense - "I thought I read that Carthel got WTAM on probation for paying benefits to players? If that is true, he will never be a head coach at UNT...we will never get close to the line on that kind of situation." I assumed he was referring to the subject of the thread.
  21. That was the father, not the son. The younger Carthel won the D2 championship.
  22. Congratulations to a Mean Green team that exceeded expectations. You went much further than any of your fans predicted in August. Too bad so many of them are idiots*. *I mean "idiots" in the best possible sense.
  23. The Center for Disease Control scientists are told not to use these terms (among others) in the up-coming budget document. I guess the Republican controlled Congress & administration are pushing for 'faith based' medicine. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/dem-trump-banning-words-in-cdc-documents-‘deeply-disturbing-and-offensive’/ar-BBGOIVR?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartanntp

  24. Not sure, but when we do some of the football experts on GMG will think every Aggie run between the tackles is a 'draw'.
