  1. I think we should take this "Group of Five" idea and think outside the box.....i think with Maryland/Rutgers movingto the B1G the MEGA Conferences are coming sooner than we think 1. Create a Group of Five National Championship Playoff system (Five Conf champs + 3 highest ranked Wildcards) Use the playoffs with Bowls like Liberty, New Orleans, Independence etc...... 2. Create our own top 20 poll .,,,still be part of D1 / FBS but have our own classification similar to a High School 5A and 4A system.... 3. As stated above byUNT Campbell, continue to schedule one body bag/$$$ game a year, but keep them limited and make the future mega conf pay for wanting/having to schedule us. 4. The big boys dont want us... so why dont we tell them like the bad news bears told the yankees ... take your trophy and shove it straight up your A$$... but as stated above...makes too much sense
  2. My vote for line of the year!
  3. "Is this real life?" "Is this going to be forever?"
  4. As much as I agree and would love to have a series with these teams, it takes 2 to Tango. Im looking at it from those other schools point of view, it really does not behoove them to play us, they win then they are suppose to, if they lose it is a bad loss and the fans turn on them. It is a no win situation for them. Similar to us playing a school like Sam Houston St etc.... Until we get into that realm of college football, I dont see the bottom feeders of big time BCS conferences playing us. I think we are destined to play the LSU, Alabama, TU, OU schools of the world until we move up and move out.
  5. http://brett-mcmurphy.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29532522/33745889 "To combat the departures of the five schools, the Mountain West had decided to add San Jose State and Utah State. But adding those schools has now been put on hold, sources said." I know it is just a blog, but.....IMO this would end any CUSA conference switch for us. College Football Gods, please let us in CUSA before this happens.
  6. I was in Norman as well, at Brothers Pub paying my tab after LSU-Bama game when the whole table starting shaking. I thought my buddy was kicking it, then I noticed the light fixtures swaying and the beer signs on the window moving. Strangest 30 seconds of my life. At least I can say "I survived the Great Quake of 2011"
  7. Steve you are 100% right...as I have been saying for years ( check old posts) UTSA has the "potential" to make a fast rise up the college football ladder...very similiar to South Florida. Yes they lost to Bacon's Rebellion, however they are the only game in town (see Spurs)...SA has always has a chip on its shoulder and feels like the forgotten step child of major texas cities. SA will support UTSA for many years to come, mix in a few wins and that program could take off. My buddys wife is in the UTSA admin, they have a vision and plans for their own stadium on the northwest side of town. Instead of cutting them down like we get cut down by Tu, A&M,SMU, TCU, etc.....we should embrace them and create a true texas rival. I say we schedule them to a 2 for 1 and "hang a half a hundred on em" GO MEAN GREEN!
  8. No way we would EVER end up as one of the "angelic" 64 hand picked from God.......however we must end up in a modified CUSA with some sort of texas/regional rivals....the Rice, Tulsa, UTEP,+++++ New Mex St., UTSA's of the world would be a step up over the Middle Tenn, FAU, south alabama's
  9. thats fine...but he does have a BCS National Championship Ring...that carries more weight than a few Class 5A state champ rings...IMO.....water under the bridge...i just fear our I-35 South brotheren may jump us in the pecking order if we screw this hire up.
  10. Im in San Antonio today and heard the "breaking news" on the SA sports radio station 760 am.....many callers and talk show host seem to think Fran or Mike Leach will be the Bobcats new coach.....after i stopped laughing i realized...oh crap...UTSA already has Larry Coker....no way either one of them ends up in San Marcos....RIGHT?...please o god...RIGHT?
  11. does a Forum post count in a court of law?
  12. he beats KSU i say give him the job
  13. My only question is why havent Tx St and UTSA looked into joining the Sun Belt? Travel cost alone would make it a better affiliation. It is not like the WAC is a superconference with mega-media locations.
  14. He has Texas ties and is a proven winner. I know it comes down to cash and he is 66 yrs old, but besides that why not?
  15. Vic Trilli
  16. please define "beast"
  17. http:/The league adds UAB to form a natural geographic rivalry with several nearby programs. The 2015 Sun Belt Will Probably Be … Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Louisiana, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Troy, UAB, ULM All this proposed change, I hope we dont get stuck with the other sisters of the poor http://cfn.scout.com/2/974716.html
  18. No, NO, No, No, No , No , No, Never, Never, Never NO!
  19. I think I may have posted this scenario a few years back when the UTSA program was just starting... for what it is worth my good friends wife is a Prof at UTSA so I picked her brain for the new programs info....she is NOT a sports fan so the info had to be translated by her husband Here is what she said the UTSA plan was 1. follow the model of University of South Florida and U Central Florida 2. hire a big time coach and recruit the big cities 3. Dont get trapped into a small time conference...they are shooting for CUSA right out of the gate when they become D-1 or whatever the heck it is now..... IMO they need to be our travel "partners" if and when we leave the BELT...more positives than negatives
  20. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/13281267/future-of-ncaa-football-five-super-conferences?tag=pageRow;pageContainer we are screwed in this CBS scenario
  21. I already heard he was hanging around the press box taking notes on all the players......hmmmmmmmmmmm
  22. only problem is their is NO WAY Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St and Notre Dame would be placed in the same Division........I would think Notre Dame would be happier to be the Big Fish in the West ...... man am I bored......when does Army-Navy play?
  23. Notre Dame or Pitt make the most sense...Notre Dame plays 4-5 teams in the Big Ten every year as is......Penn St would kill to have Pitt.. The problem lies in the traditional rivals possible being separated in a two division Big Ten i.e.. OSU-Mich Indiana-Purdue Mich-MSU Minn-Wisc Northwestern-Illinois West Minnesota Wisconsin Iowa Illinois Northwestern Notre Dame East Indiana Purdue Ohio St Michigan Michigan St Penn St championship game could rotate between Detroit, Chicago and Minneapolis.....
