No, not necessarily.
Jeff is not the Special Teams Coach, he's the Assistant Special Teams Coach. The money may be similar, and his friends and family are back here in Texas where there is no state income tax.
He could be an excellent Linebackers Coach / Recruiting Coordinator in Texas. His unique assets (recruiting contacts) aren't of any value in his current position.
C'mon...I love UNt but if he picks a job with UNT as a SPT coach instead of an NFL job...I am not sure I would want him due to stupidity....
Denton is a great place to live, but SF might have an edge over us....as would the pay , lifestyle, first class jets, hotels etc...etc...etc.....

Not so much that they get to play all of these regional teams, though that's icing on the cake. More so that I don't see a goliath anywhere on here...and they start the season off at home with a probable win.
Plus they only leave the state 3 times......I would kill to get us in CUSA....and I will start with the Big Dawg!

I know it's been talked about in MANY threads and I've read them all, but I still can't shake loose this bad taste in my mouth after SMU hired JJ on Monday! I've tried to figure out how this isn't just really bad for NT. I mean what are the positives for us? We've been taking recruits away from SMU, does that happen now? I just don't see how it does.
Two schools that run similar offenses just 30 miles away and one has a coach that took a team to a BCS bowl last season! I don't want to seem like Chicken Little, but I was so giddy during recent recruiting and then getting a new DC. It's been great. Then BAM!! Yesterday hits.
I need some Mean Green therapy.
I think June Jones and Todd Dodge are basically the same coach. Only differnce is that June has some NCAA skins on the wall and Dodge has Texas High School skins on the wall
It will come down to recruiting the DFW, Houston, Austin, SA area to see who wins out...lets hope kids remember what Dodge did at Carroll when it comes down to signing day

Sure it would help all schools involved and I am hopeful of a three way play for a DFW Crown will happen. I think something like this would really motivate the Metro Alumni and for us tap that Huge group of potential fans.

I would have to agree that SMUt made a great hire if this happens.
I think June Jones and Todd Dodge are the same coach....
Both are creative offensive minds
Both have had success
The biggest differnce is Jones has had college success and Dodge only High School success.
Dodge better get the ball rolling next year on some big wins or some of these high octane spread offensive recruits in the future will look to SMUt rather than UNT.

I agree, an upset would happen, not every year, but it would happen from time to time!
Round one happens Dec 8th (week after conference title games) 16 teams 8 games (top 8 homefield advantage)
Round two week of Dec 15th 8 teams 4 games (Cotton, Outback, Chick-fil-a, Fiesta)
Take two weeks off for the holidays Dec 16-31 (Other bowl games have center stage)
Round three Jan 1st 4 teams 2 games ( Rose, Orange)
Championship Jan 7th (Sugar)

I think you're looking at too many teams with 16. FAU, UCF, BYU, etc don't have a prayer to beat an LSU, USC, or Georgia. That's why, with the way I've proposed it, that you get two (or three, depending on which system) at large bids. If the Boise State's of the world can convince voters they deserve a shot, they will get one. Plus, I think with the at-large situations, voters would tend to give the little guys a shot and up their voting for the "cinderalla" team.
I did tip the scales in favor of the big 6 conferences by allowing the top 8 homefield advantage in round one.
At the end you would have the sacred cows battling it out, however the "non-BCS" would at least have shot, and I am sure at least one would pull an upset every other year or so!
UCF came awful close to beating almighty Texas this year 35-32

starts December 8th ends Jan 7th
top 8 get homefield adv in first round only
rounds 2-4 set up as bowl games (Sugar, Fiesta, Orange, Rose, Cotton, Outback, Chick-fil-a, )
Higher seed picks location...ie LSU selects Sugar for round three game vs VT
11 conferences get auto bid then reseeded based on BCS rankings
5 at large teams selected based on BCS rankings...
this would give the powerhouse Conferences an advantage while giving Cinderalla at least a chance!

3 Virginia Tech (auto)
4 Oklahoma (auto)
5 Georgia (at large)
6 Missouri (at large)
7 USC (auto)

This is a wonderful idea!
We could also include the many burbs outside of Denton (Argyle ISD, Aubrey ISD, Northwest ISD, Celina ISD etc....)
Give students a free pass for one game and charge $2-5 for parents and we got something.
Rotate home games with the surronding school districts (game one Northwest + Argyle) (Game two Aurbrey + Celina) we could pack the endzones in Fouts!
Of course this would make too much sense, let's keep the bleachers empty instead.

Just got done watching the 1-AA final, how in the hell did Tenn-Chattanooga build such a fine looking stadium.
We need to copy their economic plan!
