LOL, yes. About what I thought when I saw the altitude comment As for the tailgating rules, Call the school. I honestly have no clue. OSU had tents, smokers, and cars set up where TU fans regularly get in trouble for just parking. They tend to cater well to opposing fans so I bet they'll set you up with a sweet spot within 3-4 blocks of the stadium.

At an elevation of 663 feet, the air is extremely thin. Especially during the summer when it's 100 degrees with a dewpoint of 75. It's kind of like the air at peak of Everest in winter. This weekend though, it shouldn't be to bad. Just in case though, if you're coming wear your heavy shoes so you don't get picked up by the wind and carried away somewhere ;o)

Ironically, The Golden Hornets and Georgia Tech is now the Yellow Jackets. I have to wonder if the AD's or coaches were good friends or family members with the name similiarities throughout the years.

It's Hurricane. Miami are the Hurricanes. We got it in the 20's IIRC (without looking it up) due to blowing through defenses so the coach wanted a name to reflect that but Georgia Tech had Tornadoes at the time so they went with Hurricane.

Yea, Carter has been who they seem to be trying to feature and is liked a lot by most of the fans. He is certainly trying to be more the h-back Clay was. We have started to use Sears and while an effective TE, he seems to be an afterthought to GJ. I would like too see two of the four RB's emerge and be consistently very good but they still seem to be taking turns. That said, we have shown we run the ball effectively with any combination of these guys.

Harry, you're welcome. But, I forgot to address the RB's. Watts has looked really, really good as has Douglas. Watts is shifty and has some speed but Douglas is the speed guy. If he can turn the corner, he has the speed to take it to the house like he did in his 80 yard run vs OSU. Problem is, he doesn't make it around the end enough. Carter has done OK but hasn't "broken out" just yet. Still more of a screen pass guy. Singleton is a hoss and is good for 2-4 yards 80% of the time. Has enough speed to go for 20-40 if he gets past the DL and LB's but against most teams he won't have the speed to take it to the house.

The leading tackler from 2 years ago, sorry. He didn't play last year due to academics and was hurt early in fall camp this year. You are right on about the safeties and CB's. All of their inexperience and mistakes have been highlighted by Landry, Weeden, Moore and their WR corps. Getting these two guys back will help that out some. Our D is not as aggressive in terms of going for the kill every down. It seems to be more strategic and, against OU, was designed strictly to make OU have to drive down the field. And it worked. Against OSU, It was designed to stop Blackmon, which it did but it let Moore and some other guys run wild. Against Boise, we decided to make them beat us via the pass and hoped we could pressure the QB. We slowed their run game down enough to make a difference and actually got some pressure on Moore and sacked their back up (the first sack allowed by Boise this year) but our DB's needed to be able to contain for another .5-1 second and just couldn't do it. Moore is also the most accurate passer I have seen in a long time. Even when he knows he's .5 seconds from getting laid out. I actually like this defensive scheme better than what we've had the several years. We are surprisingly good at stopping the run and against teams other than the three top 5 teams we've played and Houston, we should be able to contain most teams passing attacks enough to give ourselves a chance. This new scheme seems more sound and relies less on bringing the house every down. It's more organized, methodical, sound and doesn't leaving me asking, "WTH was that?" very often as guys seems to be in the right spots more often. On offense we are really struggling to find a replacement for DJ. Burnham is the deep guy that has looked good as well as James. Roberson, a solid possession reciever broke his foot in the off season and has tried to play twice, most recently vs. Boise, but as hobbled off the field. I don't expect to see him back this year. The rest, like you said, are our RB's. If GJ isn't healthy and plays again, Tulsa will struggle to move the ball. Our play calling without DJ and with GJ injured is still maturing and not quite there yet. Hope that answers your questions

I hope GJ doesn't play but suspect he will. The leading tackler will be back for this game as will CB Rose. On defense, the biggest weakness has been our DB's... of course we have played 3 top 5 teams all of whom have outstanding offenses. Defensive strength is in the LB's and the DL has actually played very well. On offense, the biggest weakness has actually been passing. Burnham has stepped up in a big way and James has looked good. WR corps certainly not what it has been with DJ out and Roberson likely not playing the rest of the year. Offensive strength is running the ball. There are 4 backs that bring something different to the table and that, overall, have been utilzied well.

Hey all, I appreciate how cool and nice everyone was down there this weekend. You all have a helluva gameday atmosphere and a ton of friendly people. I have heard several comments frpm TU fans about the 'scenery' and agree 100%. There are some beautiful women down there... and a lot of them! I hate that the game was so lopsided but do appreciate the kindness of every UNT fan we ran in to. Good luck the rest of the season!

Our WR corps is unproven at best. There have been numerous dropped balls in our first two games. Our running game was supposed to be a strength considering we returned 4 starters to the OL and that line has combined for over 100 starts. We have 3 very good RB's but they only generated 61 yards between them vs BYU through the 4th quarter. At that point BYU was running 2nd string and we got another 40 or 50 yards. We should be running to set up the pass but I have not been impressed with our passing game yet and if we couldn't run vs an undersized BYU line, despite their very good LB's, I have concern for our running game now as well. Hopefully, the BYU game was just a bad day at the office. We'll have to wait and seen.

Last year, many TU fans predicted a loss at UNT. We had my sisters engagment party to attend so I could only check the radio occassionally. Hearing the score was 2-2 in the 2nd quarter did not give me any warm fuzzies. I have no idea what caused the onslaught of scoring but every time after I checked after that tie, TU seemed to be scoring. I thought we would win at your place last year. not by 54-2 though. Maybe 27-21, but not a blow out. I feel the same this year, I think TU should win 37-21 but would like to our defense hold you to under 18. I don't think it will happen, but I hope it will.

Fair enough. On Tulsa being the only game in town, we fight continually for coverage because of the huge OU and OSU alumn base in Tulsa. This is the first year that I can remember where TU has gotten fair and balanced coverage in the local paper. That ironically is because of the new editor who is a OU grad. This is the first time TU has a won is wasn't supposed to OU lost, and OSU won a close one vs Arkansas St where TU actually was the lead story on the frontpage. I feel for you in the local media prejudices. Luckily, it has improved some for Tulsa this year. Tough game guys. Hope things get better for you the rest of the year! )

What did you want me to say? Thanks for playing, I enjoyed listening to our team kick your ass? Call us dogshit, call our coach an ass, then get mad when I say good game? I understand how you feel as TU has been on the wrong end of beatings several times over the last decade or so. Even against Minnesota TU went into that game thinking they had a chance tpo win and, if you missed the final score, we lost 41-10. Things will only get better with asuch a young team. You guys will be fine.

Running up the score? You guys allowed our RB to score a TD on a 41-yard run then fumbled the ball and let our guy 32-yard go for a TD. That's 14 of the 21 4th quarter points. You can't blame that on the TU coaches. I know you all are upset, I would be if I were in your situation as 54-2 was not what ANYONE expected but calling our coach an ass for running up the score is BS. Come on man, we played with out 4 guys that are typically starters. 1WR/KR, 1 RB, and 2 DB's. Anyway, good game and I hope you all got out without any injuries and I'll be pulling for you the rest of the season!!

Interestingly enough MU gained 199 of their 301 rushing yards in the firt half with 165 of those coming in the 1rst quarter. Maroney had two first quarter runs of 67 and 73 yards. vs OU, 167 of their 227 rushing yards came in the second half. Peterson has long runs of 41 and 42 yards in the second half.
