You have to be able to run the football, and you have to play defense well, kick well, and stop the run. Everything else is semantics or a bonus.

Another Mass Shooting
LongJim replied to meanJewGreen's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
11 people were shot YESTERDAY in Chicago. One every 3 hours. 2762 shot this year. 465 killed. But, there won't be much national hysteria over it in the MSM. -
MGB: Villarreal, school officials say no decision made
LongJim replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This came from a Texas forum, and TIFWIW--I have no idea of the veracity of this info: "I have a very well informed friend from the UNT side of things...Apparently Patterson offered Meacham a sizable raise to stay aboard when it became apparent that Cumbie would likely be jumping ship. Causing Meacham to cancel a meeting with the UNT folks scheduled for today." http://www.orangebloods.com -

That's what I read into it. -

I'm guessing Texas is money-whipping Cumbie, Patterson is money-whipping Meacham, and UNT is waiting to see what happens. If it falls like that, they wait for Littrell, I guess. -
Texas has supposedly been working on getting Cumbie for a while.

Why North Texas needs to run the triple option
LongJim replied to Ben Gooding's topic in Mean Green Football
Here's a link to the 2009 Armed Forces Bowl highlights for Air Force. I was at this game, and by the 4th, the Houston secondary wanted no part of the AF backs and blockers. Houston was #25 and 10-2. AF was unranked and 6-5 coming into the game. They intercepted Keenum 6 times and destroyed Houston on the ground. -

This board is so funny. Great thread, though. -
I agree with a lot of this. The "old" CUSA lineup would have been ideal, but IMO, you have to get teams in that the average Joe knows--AND/OR--get old SWC schools to come to Apogee on occasion. The Baylors, the OK States, the KSU's, Houston. You keep trying with Tech, aTm and Texas. Even someone like Vandy, Georgia Tech, etc. Why? Because those teams travel, and DFW fans will come watch. Even if for only 1 non-con game per year.

I told my wife the same thing. It has been 26 years since she graduated HS, and she graduates after spring semester 2016. 9 hours left. She was afraid she was going to be the oldest ring recipient at that ceremony. Not even close, though. Congrats on getting your degree! -

My wife got hers tonight also. So proud of her. -
I don't want to suggest that she be immune from punishment. And for the record, I think she should be punished. I just don't like the idea of people losing their jobs over a pitchfork mentality brought on by social media. I probably wasn't clear in that regard. What she did (IMO) was pretty sorry, and does deserve some kind of reaction. I just think it should come from those that employ her, and that that employer should not be coerced into doing something simply because some folks get a petition together based on what everyone with working eyeballs can see on the internet. I don't like it when it happens to cops, either, FWIW.

I think the overarching point of the article is that many of today's students--while speaking out one side of their mouths about others being accepting of their views and the need for give and take--essentially view that discourse as a one-way street. And heaven help the party that doesn't blindly agree with their naiveté or downright intolerant viewpoint, because that party will be vilified, cursed, and shamed publicly--if they aren't demanded to resign their position--for voicing a differing opinion.
