  1. Awesome OT! Congrats. Must be a chip off the ol' block.
  2. UNT Listed...
  3. Here's aggy perspective of their own team: "no more real bonfire, fake bonfire failed to burn (my personal favorite), lost 6 in row to hated Texas, 77-0, loss to Baylor, two losing seasons in 3 years, disastrous 2006 recruiting class, openly mocked by Texas Tech coach in NYT, Cotton Bowl debacle, Iowa State farce, VY vs. Reggie, L'il Debbie snack cakes, list eater, **** tosser, booing at half-empty Kyle field, "can you help me with this", Whataburger drive-thru racial epithets, drug dealing starters, reliance on JUCOs, worst defenses in school history, rectum crew, "WOW", "Hold the Rope", Bama resurgence, TCU resurgence, $ 1 million "donation", post-season weeping, MacIII looking for back-to-back Rose Bowl wins, **** bookstore hurricane preparation . . . "-----An aggy perspective on the aggy football team.
  4. The free board at OB sucks. Too many nitwits. The pay board is much better, and lots of stuff going on there. GMG is a breath of fresh air sometimes.
  5. Those are very sharp, Rick. Nice job! And congrats on the new pickup.
  6. Amon Carter is very good. Not blown away by the atmosphere, but there is some there. Good place to "see" a game, though. Cotton Bowl is a great place atmosphere-wise depending on who's playing--which goes for a lot of stadiums--UT included. Also thought SBC Jones is a great places to see a game, as far as the sightlines. Fans and atmosphere: obnoxious when they're winning, and disappear when they get their teeth kicked in. Sun Bowl is great. Pyle and the cult are loud, except when they're getting their asses beat, and 75% of the students disappear in the 4th. Gameday at Fouts is better than I've ever seen it, but the old girl has seen her time.
  7. Continuing the vintage SNL: And after eating SCB, you'll need "@ss Don't Smell".
  8. I have no issue with this either. I realize that it's sometimes impossible to get a 1A school as a 12th.
  9. This, IMO, is a band-aid. As UNT is a D1-A school, they need to play as many D1-A schools as possible. Beating up on 1AA schools is not 'moving forward', in any shape or form. The coaching staff/athletic department/team does not need the "out" that victories against D1AA schools provides. They need to produce results at the level of competition that UNT plays. If they are not delivering at the level expected, then changes must be made to achieve that result. Gimme victories against lower-tier schools delays that process, IMO. I'm not against UNT scheduling a 1AA school, but keep it to no more than 1 per year. There need to be no more excuses.
  10. I agree w/UNTGirl and 1855. Which is a better matchup for the metroplex entertainment dollar: TCU vs. Air Force, SMU vs. Houston, or UNT vs. Sam Houston State/Angelo State/Altered State? Which is more likely to attract ESPN coverage? Which is more interesting/impressive to a potential recruit?
  11. Could it be that grades are an issue in some cases?
  12. Yeah, but it's not nearly as much fun!
  13. Hold the rope.
  14. Rivals: "The move reunites Malone with A&M defensive coordinator Gary Darnell after Malone served as cornerbacks coach at Western Michigan from 2004-05 while Darnell was head coach at WMU. Malone also played for Darnell at the University of Texas from 1990-93 as a defensive back. Malone takes the position vacated by former A&M defensive backs coach Melvin Smith who left to take the same title at Mississippi State earlier this month."
  15. I almost hate to post this, but I'm so disgusted, I must. At Lowe's on 183/Ridgmar, there are Lowe's gift cards with NCAA logos. Represented are UT, aTm, Tech, and...UTEP.
  16. These two are very suprising omissions. Both are very good players.
  17. Passing of a true sports legend, for those old enough to remember him: Link
  18. Why should they?
  19. Played 6 years, Jr. and Sr. years as a varsity 2 way starter for Northwest at LB, and *gulp* C. Lack of bulk hampered me--(dammit!!)--as a 6'2" 170lb center has limitations. But if you were a DL in a 4-3, I was on you before you knew what hit you, brother. Main contribution was as a deep snapper/C, and pretty fair special teams player as a kick-blocker. A couple of all-district/all-area selections as a senior, and some interest from Pittsburg St. at LB. Too bad they probably don't want 42 year olds, but hey, I'm at a playing weight of 230 now. Accepted at UT and UNT, and tried walking on the baseball team in Austin in 1983. HAHAH!! Yeah, right. God bless intramural sports.
  20. Yeah, you're right. Wishful thinking got me rolling. As it stands now, I still say Belt. Playing the "if the WAC goes East/West" can also be played with the Belt. Heh. I guess I prefer to not think about CUSA NOT being an option.
  21. Not for me. It may be just me, but the Texas names in the CUSA are far more recognizable to the average fan, as far as I'm concerned. Lots of Texans remember the old SWC days, and those schools are far more recognized than schools like Hawaii and San Jose St. UNT could be in a "mini-SWC" with Rice/Houston/UTEP/SMU/Tulsa. I think it'd be an awesome step up for UNT athletics.
  22. The Belt. UNT needs to be in a conference with other Texas schools. UNT NEEDS to play the SMU's, Rice's, Houston, UTEP's, and Tulsa's of the world, in order to keep building fan interest.
  23. I think they sell those at Adam and Eve...
  24. Sounds like a typical "mixer" at aTm.
