  1. Well, these are the comments that stood out to me. Can't say I disagree with any of them. It really does boil down to DOMINATING the Belt in EVERY way, and having success OOC. If those expectations aren't met in a timely manner, then RV (IMO) needs to revisit those issues, personnel-wise. In regards to donors: IMO the fan/alumni base needs to nut up--or shut up.
  2. PC to the HOUSE!!
  3. SE66: Don't werry about et. Lots of peeple cain't spel. And remember: Pie are not square. Cornbread are square.
  4. That is great news right there!
  5. I think it must be part of the training regimen down there.
  6. You know, I risk ridicule for posting this--as an "outsider"--but I've never understood why there's an "inferior" attitude. PMG and a couple of other UNT alums I have talked to are very aware of this very thing, and it's definitely palpable. Inferior in what way?? What's weird to me, is that alums of other schools (and I'm not saying all) that I've met do not view UNT as "inferior" in any way. It's mind-boggling, frankly.
  7. What is there to investigate?
  8. He's holding his own.
  9. The kid is obviously either mentally or chemically ill. After reading the ESPN piece, I feel sorry for him.
  10. Are you kidding? Stoops would love nothing better than to see Rhett come back with his tail between his legs, and so would everyone in Norman, I'd bet. That game would sell out in 10 minutes.
  11. Nice!
  12. FWIW, I think that's great, Eagle. Not lame at all. That's the way you're supposed to feel, I'd think.
  13. Of course, but the point is that this issue is not specific to UNT. When you're dealing w/18-19 year old kids, these things can happen.
  14. Very true. From the DMN: 11 players from Tech's 34-man signing day class were not on the reporting roster and will either delay enrollment or enroll elsewhere. Two of the 11 signees were 4-star players Leonard Hewitt and Daniel Johnson.
  15. Well, from what I saw, the MG have some pretty good athletes coming in in this class. Some big boys out there, and a few with some serious speed. It'll be interesting to hear illuvius' thoughts.
  16. Maybe this can help clarify: "In 49 games, Benson carried 1,112 times for 5,540 yards (5.0 avg.) and 64 touchdowns. His 5,540 yards rank sixth on the NCAA Division I-A career-record list and is topped only by (Ricky) Williams (6,279, 1995-98) on the Longhorns' all-time record chart. He is only the fifth back in NCAA history to rush for over 1,000 yards in each of his four seasons. His 64 touchdowns are surpassed only by Williams (72) and Travis Prentice of Miami, Ohio (73, 1996-99) on the NCAA's career record list. He also set an NCAA record by scoring at least once in 37 games. In the 25 games in which Benson ran for over 100 yards, the Longhorns won every contest. Benson also caught 69 passes for 621 yards (9.0 avg.) and three scores. His 6,161 all-purpose yards rank second in school annals, surpassed only by Williams (7,206). He is one of three players in NCAA history to rush for 5,000 yards and score 400 points. 262 of his 1,112 career carries have gone for first downs (23.6 percent) and Benson gained 3,108 of his 5,540 career rushing yards (56.1 percent) after contact. Only 84 of his 1,112 career carries have resulted in lost yardage (once every 13.2 carries). His 404 career points rank second in Texas history and fourth in NCAA annals among non-kickers."
  17. To me, it's really going to come down to the play of the OL, DL, and the QB. If there is significant improvement in those areas, then UNT has a good chance for a very successful season, IMO. BTW, although we weren't speaking of smack-talk, I'm guessing everyone's aware that there are only 2 Texas D1 schools with more NCAA National Championships than UNT? And that UNT has as many NCAA National Championships as TCU, Texas Tech, and aTm combined?
  18. I believe you are exactly right. I'm hoping UNT will see a world of difference in their line play and QB play this year.
  19. He needs to take his medicine and STHU.
  20. Good morning, emmitt! I just said #2 isn't "too far off". Hard to predict at this stage. I don't have a problem with #2-#5, quite frankly. Who cares, really? But since you asked: Notre Dame hasn't done anything to deserve a top 2, IMO. Their team speed sucks, and tOSU handed them their ass in the Fiesta. They lost to the power teams they faced last year. They would be overrated if ranked in the top 2. "The Greatest College Team Ever" lost their entire offensive backfield, and a couple of their freak OL's. They also lost the MNC to the #2 team in the poll. Ohio State lost 9 defensive starters off a sick defensive team. I don't have a problem with them being #1, because of their QB play. I believe they will lose in Austin on 9/9, however. UT's big question is QB play. They will be sick everywhere else.
  21. Re: Texas #2. I think based on returning/incoming talent, that's not too far off, but no one knows how the QB's will play--and that's the wild card.
  22. I agree, and I think we'll see a world of difference in all the QB's this season.
  23. May be a moot point, because he may have lost his "amateur" status depending on how this turns out.
  24. Me neither!!
